i’ve been playing comp as tank for a while and it just feels impossible to win or do something by myself when I get bad dps teammates, statwise, I have better performance than the enemy tank, counterswapping, good position and comms, but it’s when our dps is getting diffed hard, like hard hard when their dps have 40~ 50 kills and our has only 20, I try my best to protect them as rein or dva so they can do some damage but it feels impossible to even stay alive tanking dmg of 5 players and our dps couldn’t even aim at the supports. any way to carry this thing alone and win the game? it’s been really frustrating to have these kinds of matches every day
OTP dva and you will be both the dps and the tank, and you will also be jesus
roll with a premade team all the time
I just tell them I will link my OnlyFans if we win. That inspires them.
you might be making their job hard without even realizing it. in order to win games, you need to control the space (around the objective). you don’t necessarily even need to kill anything to accomplish this. just damaging them until they retreat is good enough in many cases. there might be an ashe or widow on high ground poking out your dps from his position so he has to retreat to a worse position. there might be a zarya walking them down while you are in their backline. they don’t need a personal shield, they need to not be getting shot from 7 different angles
the best thing you can focus on as a tank is controlling the space. go contest that angle ashe is on and push her out, then your dps can move in and take good angle and pump out good damage on their team. obviously you wont win all the games, for various reasons, but you need to focus less on stats and focus more on controlling/contesting angles so your team can fight with the advantage.
if u wana solo pop off, with little teamate agency, id suggest getting good at doom
I had 25k dmage and 39k mitigation and still lost since i had losers in my team
you cant change that weak mentality. just make sure you dont take the game seriously.
for every 1 tanks there are 100 dps who can fill the slot. Out of that 100 there are 10 that can aim.
So you posting will mean nothing, there are hordes and hordes of trash can dps waiting to hit that reque
The answer is probably figuring out which one singular teammate you can “Duo” with.
For example.
Mei, can be used instead of Kiriko, to pocket a Roadhog.
Just put up a wall infront of Hog, whenever he gets too much aggro on him. Like if Hog is at 1/3rd health, and gets AntiNaded.
Mei, can put a wall up behind enemy players, and then Junker Queen can go to town on them, while also speedboosting the entire team to go for the Gank.
Baptiste, can do a lot of everything. And is rather self sufficient. And he can combo with a lot of Tanks to both put out damage, put out heals, and put out peels.
Sigma, if you can just get somebody to prevent stuff from getting close range on you, you’re golden.
This could include a friendly Torb Turret in your backline covering you.
Rein/Lucio on attack
So just build up a library of those options. And then advertise.
Then it’s just a question of how to convince people to join your strategy.
“Hey I wanna combo with somebody on LISTOFHEROES. Anybody wanna do that? Wanna have some fun and try to win. Anybody up for that? I’m pretty flexible, but I got some strong combos in mind.”
If your whole team is trash then no it’s not possible. If it’s one or two trash teammates then sometimes it’s doable.
Group up. If you’re on tank, find at least one dps and one support you can trust.
I’d recommend getting a full team, but then the matchmaker will throw you against full teams 90% of the time. And some of those teams have been playing together for quite awhile. Full stack play can be really rough until you all get used to playing together.
Well, what I said above is even less requirements.
Just one DPS “or” one Support.
Just stack two hybrid characters that combo well.
play in a stack, reduces the chance you more than one crappy teammates
Just throw to end it quickly, then requeue.
You cannot possibly convince your teammates to work with you. Believe me, I’ve tried and I only get reported or yelled at.
It’s best to have one person at each role you trust. If you don’t It’s almost a guarantee you’ll get professional window lickers occupying the third role.
If you have one person in each, they can keep you from completely losing one role.
Yeah, 3 is good, but I’m just saying 2 in coordination can be almost as good.

Ooh.
Here’s the trick.
List a bunch of duo combos you’d be okay with doing.
Then let them pick which one.
Bad match making is the result of this.
We’ve been asking for this change for 2 years now in the match making system and The head boss of Blizzard isn’t commenting much as to what is actually going on.
We get the whole “They are working on it”. But they just seam to not have a solution presented before us.
I get the whole “free 2 play” needs to go thing. Because that doesn’t make for a good match making. But doomsayers will claim that the f2p model must remain, simply because their friends dont think they should have to pay for video games.
I guess Im of the opinion games and titles should cost money to play, and that Devs should be paid for their work, and not have to rely off of “donations” by the whole battlepass system and those that are willing to buy into that.
I know that according to these marketting “Gurus”. there are supposedly plenty of people that buy these passes, but I do feel as though paywalls to play games at least helps with narrowing the amount of accounts signing up so a match maker can gather more data on a singular account. Vs a large pool of newly created accounts that it is always trying to place first and foremost (and above the rest).
So thats why we have so many broken matches and so many bad team mates.
