Any theory's on OW2 launch heroes and heroes beyond that

Jeff has said that we will be getting multiple heroes at launch for Ow2 he says the team wants it to be impactful to the game and it’s story this means a minimum of about 4 heroes and a maximum of about 8 I’d say

I predict mauga will be shown off at this year’s blizzcon possibly in a new trailer showing off talon missions or a talon cinematic we already know he’s coming and they stated they are working on multiple tanks and supports so I believe maybe is definitely next along with that strange null sector omnic from Storm rising

For others I predict

junkerqueen(would make a great tank or support and would be pivotal to a future junker expansion

D.mon (pllllease Jeff I swear to you if you give me d.mon I’ll become a tank main forever) lmao d.mon is my favorite character and I think she’d be pretty pivotal too if d.va has any part in the base game.or even In a MEKA expansion we need more main tanks and d.mon fills that role nicely she’s a leader and she’d be worried about d.va doing all this by herself

The other Meka pilots would be cool too for the reasons I stated before they’d be pivotal to a Meka based expansion (though I don’t think any of them would be main tanks and d.mons mech kinda fits really nice in that tank category) but I’d still love to see them all especially for more Meka lore and the fact that we need more tanks

Let’s see there’s Sanjay would make for an interesting support or even hardlight tank

They would be AWESOME!! I’m always happy to see more omnics added to the game and Maximilien fits my aesthetic perfectly

Im very much hoping for lynx I think they would make an awesome support character and be a good representation for the non binary community

I’m personally REALLLLLY hoping for D.mon I’ll literally only play tank if she gets added I’ll be a tank main forever💀

That’s cool but there could always be more and we have no solid evidence that those were even ow characters

I’m mostly asking people for characters we know about and what place they think they’ll play in the grand scheme of things :slight_smile:

Sanjay, Maximillian and Lynx Seventeen aren’t fighters, so I don’t see them joining the roster anytime soon, the same way I don’t see Efi being a future hero

While I somewhat agree neither is Moira or mercy or zenyatta the literal monk or Mei or sym or Winston(though he was a field agent) or hell if I told you that you can play a hamster back in 2016 you would’ve laugh we all would’ve let’s be honest

I never really pictured Brigitte being a hero when i first saw her in reins comic but they did so who knows

Personally I think mauga d.mon and junker queen are very likely additions due to the amount of lore that’s been put into them (d.mon a little less so but her tank looks like it’s be perfect for the game and Meka needs more lore) but for the queen and mauga I think at this point it’s certain that we will see them

I hope he will never be playable. He seems to be the type of guy not wanting to get his hands dirty himself and to avoid fight and violence when he is involved. We need side characters like Max. Important for the lore. Let him be a shady accountant and money launderer and see what he will do in OW2.

I agree that maybe my conception of Lynx Seventeen might be wrong and Blizzard wants to take him in other direction, but Maximillien and Sanjay seem like directives and/or businessmen who wouldn’t fight under any circumstance, like Vialli or Antonio

Since people already pointed out every possible character(that’s not Emily) in this topic.

I decided to ask a bot. Here is what it came up with:

Overwatch 2 new heroes . Captain Renault is the hero with the shield and the Motorcycle. Sentry is the soldier with the sniper rifle and the Flares.

Developer Comment: How does Overwatch handle positional warfare? We’re introducing positions in our gameplay update. Right now, we have a team on Attack, and one on Defense, which starts at a fixed position and does not change. We have another team on Assault, but they are rotated randomly. What we plan to add in our next update is an ability to place and rotate “rest and resupply” players around that team. We’ve also noticed a trend in that over time teams will lock onto a single location, typically the point A.

I think mauga will be a launch hero just to fill out talons roster a bit more give them more of a place in the base story and then for the expansions focus on some other characters that they can introduce

I REALLLLLLY want the M.E.K.A pilots specifically D.MON if my name dosen’t make that transparent enough💀

She’d be an interesting character to release because blizzard have talked alot about her in the past in fact she might have the most lore out of any of the Meka pilots besides maybe king

I feel like she’d be a really interesting fun tank and i would literally become a tank main and buy ALLL of her merch if it came out

Also it would make sense for the Meka pilots to join d.va in fighting for the future each of them has their own potential ability set just from 1 picture we know alot about them and really want more of them

And I’d like a M.E.K.A expansion where we fight the gwishin maybe? Idk we have that new version of the MEKA base map in OW2’s trailer

Back to Mauga

I feel that mauga will be shown off at blizzcon because he is essential to overwatch’s story talon needs a bigger and every growing roster and i think the opportunity is just too good to pass up

Same with the Null sector leader I think they are probably maybe gonna be either a tank or support they certainly look like it

They not only give us more insight on NULL SECTOR but they give us some TALON lore too and we finally get to play and evil/morally ambiguous omnic haha

In the same way that soujorn will give overwatch some more depth

Junkerqueen could be both ways she could be a launch hero because she is essential to the main lore but she could also be released post launch and we could have an expansion to go with her

The possibilities are endless honestly I think no matter what we will see most of these characters rendered in a cutscene and then possibly introduced later (like Brigitte was) i need to see d.mon in a cutscene I don’t care if its 5 seconds Jeff please😂

also there’s always the possibility of new heroes we haven’t seen or heard of before

But give that the games need tanks and supports and Jeff confirmed they are working on some these are my theory’s

D.Mon

Personally, I think that D.Mon is the least interesting of the 4. Overlord has the most unique potential gameplay, Casino has large potential lore ties with Monaco/Max, and King has his mech’s eponymous artillery. D.Mon just seems to be the least interesting of the group. A plain shield mech and a relation to D.Va that mirror’s King’s.

Mauga

I feel like Mauga is almost certain within the first year of Overwatch 2. The question is, will he be a launch hero or not? I don’t think he will, but instead will drop early on like Ana did for Overwatch 1.

Null Sector

The Null Sector leader is the one that I feel is almost certain. Aside from being the obvious main villain for the Null Sector arc, his hooded design in Storm Rising matches the “Warlock” silhouette rumour that a reporter got when they visited Blizz about Overwatch 2.

Junkerqueen

I listed Junkerqueen purely because she is the only one there that is a girl, and we were told about 3 mystery girl silhouettes. That being said, if we didn’t have the silhouettes, I would not expect her at all. I feel like if she does pop up, it would be in a Junkertown themed expansion or season, or whatever post-launch pricing model they decide to go. Give us the ability to fight in the Scrapyard, and Junkerqueen as a hero releases alongside it. I think that would be a really cool way to add her, and I feel that she would not play a major role in the Null Sector engagement.

Hamid Faisal

Hamid I listed there for a few reasons.

  • The first is that, of the characters listed, other than the more-or-less-confirmed Mauga and Junkerqueen, I think he is the most likely to become a hero overall. He is an enigma that was teased in a manner similar to Sombra or Hammond, and his story ties together a bunch of maps that are lacking in lore like Ilios, Ayutthaya, and Petra. Likewise, he would be a Middle Eastern hero potentially from Iraq, coming from a place that is lacking heroes not just in Overwatch but in almost all media. He was also namedropped in Bastet in a context that suggests both Ana and Jack knew him well, suggesting that he has ties to Overwatch (or perhaps he was ex-Overwatch himself.) That give us enough to feasibly speculate that he can receive the Recall and potentially join forces with Winston.
  • The second big reason was the silhouettes. 3 females, and 1 “warlock.” On the off-chance that the Null Sector leader is not this warlock, that leaves only Hamid Faisal from my list of relevant, named characters. We have seen Lynx, Sanjay, the MEKA pilots, Sven, and of course Mauga. None of them are warlocks. We have never seen Hamid Faisal, he could very well be a staff toting explorer. Speaking of explorers…
  • The third is just, archaeologists are a popular trope, and also one Blizzard loves. Lara Croft, Indiana Jones, Nathan Drake, Brann Bronzebeard and the League of Explorers, archaeologists make cool heroes. Hamid Faisal is an archaeologist.

Of course, they could all just be new introductions we don’t know, but I would love to see the characters we’ve come to know a little become heroes of their own.

I have the feeling Sanjay isn’t a fighter… he sends Symmetra to do all his dirty work for him.

I’d love another Helix hero bc of the ties to Pharah, Petras Act etc but I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

I would love for Helix to be a faction that enforces the Petras act. We don’t know any other important Helix characters outside Pharah’s squad yet. Hopefully someone will get introduced to us though.

I’m interested in seeing Sojourn, I like her design a lot and her Vanquish(the game) style slide made me really curious about her kit. I’m not yet sold on her personality.

Junkerqueen seems to be very charismatic, so I want to know more about her, especially her past.

I think if one thing that D.va short did was make us want a new member of the Meka squad in the game. With D.mon being D.va’s teammate for a long time their interactions would be cool.

The last character that I think would be cool is Anubis. While it seems unlikely since it was put “out of commission”. Their ability consists in controlling other omnics, they could have “possessed” another body and escaped Helix during the fight. Those huge jackals statues on Temple of Anubis are pretty intimidating :wink:

I loved Oroko’s design in Pharah’s comic so imagine a new Helix hero being this cool surveillance specialist omnic!

I loved his design too. Okoro is the true hero of the comic. Its a shame he shot himself.

I think its possible to make a hero where the hero is the AI using bodies. Could be a function similar to Techies or Murky, where they have a short respawn time or adjustable respawn location. The whole hero being based on the idea of expendable forms to reap benefits.

But I think she’s interesting in the terms her design and potential abilities she looks like she could be an interesting main tank and right now that’s exactly what everyones wants

Plus I’d like to see her leadership personality Micheal chu was very keen on shooting facts about her specifically

And we’d have no end t the amount of d.mon d.va cosplays on tik Tok at blizzcon and all other cons

Idk she’s just sparked my interest ever since I saw her back in 2018 and ever since then I’ve really wanted her I play alot of tank and I’m best at d.va but I know my way around the others too and I love them all but d.mon would definitely be the hero I main

Idk i feel like it’d spark a bit of interest in the game via the cosplays and stuff

Of course I have no idea none or all of these guys could make it in

But what can I say I’ma a simp💀

I liiike all of them and i think they are all unique enough to bring SomethIng new to the table

Hell if we got all 5 we could have a Giswhin omnic PvE mission amd im most CERTAINLY not against that

All i have to say to the devs is if you are working on her or considering it “bring on the d.mon”

If you really want to know I’m sure either Blizzard or some company they work with will leak a few at some point soon. Anyone remember when Amazon leaked OW switch? Or every other major update? I think it’s funny how bad Blizzards luck is in that department.

That wasn’t so much a leak as Amazon listed an Overwatch themed Switch case before Overwatch for Switch was announced.
