Any Canadians Experiencing High Ping?

It was like, a little less than a month ago Canadians through a couple different ISP’s were getting routed into nothing but South American servers for 2 or 3 days or so. Was wondering if any fellow Canadians are having high ping recently as well?

I’ve done a tad bit of testing and while I can’t conclusively say it isn’t my end, everything else I’ve checked has ran pretty much as I expected. (Twitch streams, ect)

Have you tried running any WinMTR tests? Post them here if you can to get a review of what problems you may be having.

WinMTR instructions:

  1. Download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
  2. Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
  3. Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
  4. Run the WinMTR.exe
  5. Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
    Network Graph
note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78
  6. Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
  7. Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
  8. Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~

If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:

  • US West - 24.105.30.129
  • US Central - 24.105.62.129
  • Brazil - 54.207.107.12
  • Europe - 185.60.114.159

Not gonna lie, I’m slightly technology impaired, and way too tired to even try that tonight, but I’ll look into that. Thanks. ^^

Well if you are not too comfortable, be sure to ask for anyone you know who can help you. Unfortunately as it stands, there is no trending reports for any specific region as of late.

I’m also having the same issue right now. My ping has gone up by 50 from what I’m used to, and I live in eastern Ontario. It’s making the game unplayable for me since I already average pretty poor ping normally, this just makes it even worse.

Yes there is a thread about latency issues regarding Canadian ISP’s. I too am lagging I just stopped playing Overwatch because I can only handle so much of 300MS before I lose my mind.

Oh? Could you link that one? I’d like to read up on it.

I also have a similar issue tonight, I keep being disconnected from the game server for no apparent reason, probably a bad connection somewhere. I’m with Videotron.

Yes I have an average of 95-110 ping when for almost the entire time i’ve played had an average of 58-60ms ping. I haven’t played in a week and a half for more than a match because of the horrid latency.

Experiencing the same issue bell ontario

Ping skyrockets to 200-300 after an hour of play, restarting doesn’t do anything. I live in Quebec.

Hey all,

The forum post Macster mentioned we are updating as we know more about this issue and we are collecting information in to help find the cause of it. to help keep everything in one place I am locking this thread. Please keep an eye on the other thread and post any update to it. Thank you for your patience while we investigate these connection troubles.
