I was just doing competitive with a friend and we were communicating through discord. So when we got in a match, it was Temple of Anubis and I was on the loading screen (Where it shows who is in the match and average SR) and it was frozen on the screen, not loading in. My ping was going crazy, but it wasn’t actually because I could talk and hear just fine on discord. But I still got kicked, and I was able to join back right away, but the match still ended even though I joined back instantly, so I would really like it if you guys made it so if you joined back right away at the start, you wouldn’t lose SR. And if you are able to, I would love it if I got that 50 SR back that I lost for this issue.
Unfortunately all disconnections and game crashes counts as leaving the match and will be penalized appropriately. The game server has no way to discern a legitimate disconnection or game crash from one that is forcefully caused by a dishonest player to bypass leaver penalties. Rejoining a game is only possible during certain phases of the game. If you leave a game either during the pre-game or during the first minute of the game, the game will automatically cancel (remember the 10 second rule does not apply to the leaver, but as a warning to other players that the match will cancel). You can rejoin the match during the initial hero selection screen if you are lucky enough to quickly reconnect though.
Otherwise, you can only rejoin any-time after one-minute of match time has passed up until the match completes. However you only have two minutes to do so without penalty. If you rejoin a match after two-minutes, you will still automatically be marked with a loss an be penalized with a -50 SR cut and a ten-minute suspension. This rule ensures that no one can abusive the leaver system by attempting to return to a match after deliberately leaving in order to avoid such penalties. Furthermore leaving three or more times in a single match will result in an automatic penalty. If you fail to return to a match by the time it ends normally (regardless of match result) you will be penalized.
In your cases you specified that your discord serviced did not disconnect, unfortunately the truth is that connecting to one online game, service, or website does NOT take the same connection route as the other. So my advice is that if this is happening frequently that you need to check your connection route by running a WinMTR test:

Download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
Run the WinMTR.exe
Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to. note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78
Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
