Am I the only Mercy who doesn't like Pharah?

I like playing with Genji, McCree, Hanzo, Ashe and Widow more than I like playing with Pharah. Pharah needs my attention all the time, except if we have a Brig as a second healer.
With the amount of hitscan heroes now in the game, Pharah just becomes a free target in the air and is basically hogging all the healing.

I like playing with Pharahs who have great positioning and movement, but there are only a very few who do. But when I get one of those in my team, it’s pure heaven.
Oddly enough those never need the Mercy pocket 24/7 to be effective.

If a Pharah literally just needs pockets and keeps dying regardless, I stop healing them and they usually get the memo and swap off. It’s no use trying to play vs McCree, Soldier, Baptiste and Ana who all focus Pharah the second she’s in the sky.

Also I think Brig is almost better at Healing Pharah than Mercy. The armor overheal is huge on her and allows her to flank or focus a target longer.

Ashe is no good against flankers, better stay out of reach for most of them.

She is. She has her mobility gun there which with she can jump away, she has dynamite if they come close and she can firer pretty fast when you are not scoped in.
And she does pretty good DMG.

But OC she doesnt have hard CC like McCree or so. But there are heros who have a harder time then she does :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Who said she will pay attention to flankers anyway?

If there are any lessons this game gave me, it’s one - never expect people to have good observation skills. Unless it’s enemy team.

Would rather fly in the sky and dodge things on my own, than be grounded and hope for teammates to keep flankers away.

I don’t want to sound mean but talking with you about something like this doesnt make sense anyways.
You play the game completely wrong and claim that this game is not a team game and you only expect the worst from people.

And why I should expect good from strangers? Better be ready for worst, that way I never get disappointed.

100% depends on Ashe player, she got everything in her utility to be good against a flanker, 1shot tracer, burn genji deflect, boop away df, sombra is a joke anyway.

Because since Overwatch is a teamgame you need to trust your people so you can fully focus on the things you are suppose to do. if everyone does their role and just has to focuson their thing(s), then the game will be much easier and you have a way better time.

And when people mess something up, it’s normal. And after all this is just a video game, so nothing that actually matters in RL.

I already can focus on things I am supposed to do, and survival is on top of that list. Not expecting teammates to be good allowed me to escape in most cases, before real trouble strikes.

So, if I get to work with Ashe, I will disappear, before flanker gets a shot at me. At least with Pharah, dodging is up to me.

It’s normal, if I can fix it. Otherwise it’s reason to escape.

Playing pharmacy is basically a risk you are willing to take and you should pocket her. If you want to play mercy and someone takes pharah and you dont wanna commit to it you should prolly announce it so they know to switch off or they know they aint getting pocketed.

Only reason to not pocket Pharah is if one proved to be awful at playing her. You know, killing themselves with their own rockets, failing to dispatch whoever was sent to shoot her down, etc. Still useful as extra GA point.

If the Pharah wants a pocket, I’ll give it to her. But I will let them know that if my second support needs help healing, I will help them over keeping my beam on Pharah.
I’ll tell them when I drop and help my other support and I always encourage my second support to let me know when they need help.
I’m not a pocket kind of healer, no matter what my Pharah does, 99% of the time I check on the rest of the team and top them off when I know Pharah doesn’t need help at the moment.

I will not pocket a Pharah that continuously dies to two hitscans and refuses to switch because I’ve reached the rank where people are smart enough to shoot me instead of her.

Neither am I, but lack of healing makes me one. Usually Pharah happens to live longest, due to player’s general dislike to aiming above, combined with inability of many dangerous heroes to reach her.

You can position yourself, so they can’t shoot you instead. Floating slightly above roof usually means, that it’s impossible to shoot you, unless flying as well, or getting behind you. Enemy team will see your healing beam, but angle of roof prevents them from seeing you.

I don’t like pocketing one singular hero. If someone picks Pharah and gets mad at me for not paying 100% attention to them, I’m sorry, but that’s not my problem. I’ll obviously heal a Pharah if I see they’re damaged, but my time won’t be spent with them alone in the sky.

Pharahs generally shouldn’t expect Mercy pockets.

I don’t like it because some players expect you to stay glued them and them only despite your other support being Zen. And when you do leave them to help someone critical they rage at you and start spamming for heals.

Far from every Pharah player does this, but it’s a sizeable enough portion that the comp has given me a bitter taste.

I dislike Mercy when I am Pharah. It is like… Hop off, homie. I am just trying to play the game. I am a strong independent dps and don’t need no healer.

When I mercy i have a smiliar feeling too, like I am letting the 4 other people down by focusing too much on Pharah.

As a tank, I hate the guts of every phara+mercy combo player.

As a dps, I feel disgusted that phara+mercy is the way it is.

A hero shouldn’t require another to be this useful, and a combo shouldn’t mean that picking one counter won’t be enough unless it’s exactly that one hitscan that oneshots them.

In some maps, they just have so much cover to work with and can shoot from such a distance that even mccree shots are just tickling her. If you go widow, they can still just jump you with the e selfboop and kill you insanely fast.

Pharah is just bad game design, and I am sorry it exists at this point.

Not gonna lie, I genuinely don’t like it.
The idea of constantly being stuck on one player isn’t fun for me.
I love just zooming around to everyone, constantly healing or damage boosting when needed.

I just roll my eyes whenever someone sees me on mercy, and swaps from other DPS to Pharah, juts expecting me to pocket

Sometimes it’s necessary, if 4 other people are hopeless. 50 hps is about enough for 1 player…so you get to pick, which one you want to save.
