Alright, lets discuss the 6v6 10%

You’re right, they are so weird and bipolar I don’t know why they insist on making a 6v6 competitive now ?

you don’t want it because you have lost 3 years trying to balance 5v5, you sabotaged the 6v6 test we all understand, just move on stop rubbing salt in the wound…

There is one thing everybody overlooked: In a prior directors take they said that modes usually fall off to 4%, the big question is now: Did it happen with 6v6? If it stayed 10%, which they didn’t say it fell off, than it is noteworthy

Why is that important? It would mean that the mode is not a gimmick and will loose it’s population, but could be considered an essential mode.

Sure pal. Meanwhile most of the userbase over OW2’s history actually played and liked 5v5.

If it maintains a user share of 10% then it could replace 5v5 Open Queue which has the same level of interest.

Another reason they are playing the whole playerbase. The whole game is 5v5 except deathmatch. When it comes to modes, how much of the playerbase did it take up. Like how many play 5v5 qp, and 5v5 comp, and 5v5 mytsery. Or better yet since you threw it in arcade, how many arcade players were clicking that over all the other options. Forget 5v5 qp and comp. Because it wasnt on that page.

I just honestly do not think we have had enough time with 5v5. A few tanks never got adjusted for it such as Zarya/Dva. Overwatch had like arguably 4-5 years with 6v6 before it stopped huge changes in 2020-2022.

Many of the adjustments to heroes they have made has made counter picking less effective. There are still huge outliers. How badly Ana screws over hog/mauga. How much Sombra messes with Doomfist/Ball.

They started putting energy into back pedaling 6v6 when they could have worked in more reworks to better cut out counter picking in heroes. Roadhog was so close, but they added his trap instead of giving him almost any other utility and simply keeping the alt fire in there.

That’s like saying we like paying taxes cause we’re forced by default to LOL

Is there an argument or information someone could post here that would change your mind about anything surrounding 6v6?

Nobody forces you to play OW2. It’s strictly voluntary.

Even if 10% is a fair number, I’m pretty much only going to play 6v6 here on out (possible exception if I have friends who want to 5v5, but my friends are playing Rivals now so it’s unlikely).
So if they take it away, they may well lose 10% of their player base

Actually most of the userbase quit and left a bad review on steam. Mention OW2 anywhere other than overwatch forums, you will be laughed at and I’m not kidding.

Some of us consider replacing current 5v5 OQ with 6v6 OQor M1M3 and leaving RQ as 5v5 to be the best possible compromise in the 5v6 debate.

Completely agree. The timing was just a little too late and a little too close to Christmas, when families are travelling and such.

The Comp 6v6 test in S15 will be really interesting. The timing of that fits well, in my opinion. I dont like Comp but I love 6v6, so I will likely just be playing Comp 6v6 (with text communication off!).

Those would be people that do not play the game and, as such, do not comprise it’s userbase.

I don’t think the 6 v 6 crowd is fraudulent. I think its too little, far too late. And suspiciously looks like it was intentionally sabotaged. With queue time bugs showing 15 minutes, causing more people to not queue… And queue bugs sending people into 5 v 5 when they queued for 6 v 6.

That wasn’t fixed for the entire run of 222, why not? Surely if they took it seriously those bugs would be gone by day 3? You can’t do a study to test for something with such glaring problems that will skew the data. That data becomes bunk data because it’s biased with such problems.

Now marvel is stealing most of the ol ow players because blizzard just keeps lowering the bar L after L.

“Overwatch is old news gramps, cool kids are playing MR.” Or something-a-rather.

Although im playing less and less MR since finding out they use the exact same rigging that ow does. At least netease is somewhat transparent about it though. They provide the matchmaking document themselves.

I’m just done with this psychological manipulation bs that these pvp ftp games are all doing. Back to single player and co-op games for me.

But out of everything you just mentioned… how much longer would it take. The game should have technically been in a much better state for 5v5 from the start, let alone 2+ years after.
I’m not saying it had to be perfect and could undergo adjustments as needed, but it’s pretty widely believed that there are not only major issues with some of the cast in 5v5, but also just 5v5 in general. Tank issues and Tank counterwatch are still major problems that have existed since OW2.

6v6 ran into some issues and may have had more time to work on it, but the issues were less about the core concept around 6v6 and more about the amount of time and effort the devs could put into it to fix the issues. We were getting a patch every 6 months back in OW1 where in OW2 we are getting 2 patches a month. I think OW2 has caught up with the amount of attention and response that OW1 was getting.

Though I’m not advocating for 5v5 to be replaced by 6v6. but for both modes to exist.
If later down the line one of them falls off to the other, then alright, the better mode wins.

Why would they intentionally sabotage it, rofl. The things I read on these forums…lol

Imagine thinking a video game company has all these players that want to play 6v6, but, for (reasons unknown?) they want their players to play 5v5 instead. So, they “sabotage” their test, so they can tell their players the numbers (which, by the way, they could easily just lie about if they really wanted to), that show that players don’t actually want to play 6v6.

This immediately gets proven wrong through the fact that the entire 5v5 vs 6v6 debate was started by unhappy tank players in the first place because tank is so miserable to play as in 5v5 lol.

That and the other 2 roles also complaining about how awful it feels to play against raid boss tanks.

Is this in response to me (my original post)?
If so… there isn’t anything anyone could say to me that would make me change my mind on which format I prefer.

But if the question is, is there anything that could change my mind on whether 6v6 should be fully implemented or not, then yes there is.
Though I want 6v6 and have a lot of arguments that I think are reasonable as to why 6v6 should exist and should have an actual shot of being re-added to the game, the thing that would convince me that 6v6 is for sure dead and shouldn’t be kept in the game would come down to player numbers playing 6v6, but with a test behind it that is more conclusive than this test.

The reason I am not convinced that it should be kept out of the game at this point after the 6v6 test is because 10% is enough to consider it given the parameters of the test.
For only a couple of weeks, 6v6 pulled 10% of players over to it.
Since no one knows the actual stats, if the sites that try to estimate the player count are anywhere close to accurate then roughly 2 millions players played 6v6 (or the equivalent of 2 million players worth of play time). That’s a decent chunk of players.
It also did this just after a major competitor game launched weeks before and literally through one of the biggest holiday seasons where players tend to drop off.
That’s enough for me to think there is something worthwhile there and think that it may have very well gotten better results if it was tested during pretty much any other time frame.

However, if 6v6 got a proper test that was more than a couple weeks (maybe a couple months or a full season at least), is balanced well for 6v6 standards and it ended up failing to have a lot of players play it or failed on retention over time, with 5v5 stealing those players back… then yeah, I’d be convinced that 6v6 isn’t strong enough to stay in the game.
But even if it only hits 10% again and is able to retain that over a long period of time, I’d at least make the argument that it’s good enough to stay in the game, the same as how 5v5 OQ stayed in the game at 10% of the players playing it.

I have to commit to the bit because someone called me out for saying it once and therefore the only option is to double down. I guess that was more or less my point to begin with. The tests were a waste of time because I knew the results.

Yeah… I could not agree more.

That sentiment used to make me roll my eyes, but after how they handled Reinhardt, I suppose it makes sense. I just do not understand why they would bother sabotaging themselves. Then again, I often joke about how this game is a social experiment… So, I guess the logic is built in that implication.

I am pretty sure they were off for Christmas, but I forget the timeline. Idk. Developers need to hire a fumigator.

They snatched me like a weave!

I am pretty cool. And also a kid.

Engagement based matchmaking is the devil. No idea why I even bother with online games anymore. I miss my visual novels. Then again, this game got me into comics. So… It’s pretty much the same thing if you think about it. No harm, no foul.

And that’s where Overwatch can still fix things. It’s never too late to finish that PvE.
