So I was pretty active in a thread about playing Lucio against Sombra: Lucio hacked tips? - #63 by FEF-11261
I and someone else drifted away from the Topic because of Sombra’s ability to hack some passives he said it wasn’t consistand I said it is if you think in the way the game thinks so I’m going over every hero and tell you what it does to the passive:
General:
If your Passive is activated by doing something outside of your direct control (With this I mean only pressing a button doing basically having a certain condition met) it’s not hackable (Example Brigitte’s Inspire, Or Sombra’s Oppertunist)
If your Passive is bound too directly pressing a button to either change or active it’s hackable (Example: Genji’s and Hanzo’s Wall climbs)
Ana:
Has no Passive
Bastion:
Ironclaw: It’s activated when transformed (Sentry and Tanks) Bastion gets kicked out of Sentry so no Ironclaw there but it’s not hackable in Tanks form because Bastion is still transformed therefore ironclaw still works
Brigitte:
Inspire: This Passive gets activated by hitting/damaging an enemy not by a button press therefore not hackable
Extra: Her Rally aura is part of the Rally because Rally is a transforming ult it’s not Hackable
D.VA:
Eject: Not activated by a button press so not hackable
Doomfist:
The Best Defense…: Activated by hitting an enemy with your ability therefore not hackable
Genji:
Cyber-Agility: Activated by directly pressing a button (space) therefore hackable
Extra: His dash-reset counts for Kills in general not only to dash kills Sombra can’t stop his Weapon therfore not Hackable
Hanzo:
Wall Climb: Activated by directly pressing a button (space) therefore hackable
Junkrat:
Total Mayhem: Not activated by a button press so not hackable
Lucio:
Wall Ride: Activated by directly pressing a button (space) therefore hackable
Aura: Its directly bound to Shift (a button) and it therefore hackable
Mcree:
Has no Passive
Mei:
Has no Passive
Mercy:
Angelic Descent: Activated by directly pressing a button (space) therefore hackable
Regeneration: Not activated by a button press so not hackable
Extra: Valkyrie’s fly its bound to her transforming Ult transforming ults are not hackable therefore Valkyrie is not hackable
Moira:
Has no passive
Extra: her self-healing does not count as a passive it’s her gun doing it but even if it would be a passive its activated by damaging an enemy not by pressing m1 so would not be hackable
Orisa:
Has no Passive
Pharah:
Hover Jets: Activated by directly pressing a button (space) therefore hackable
Reaper:
The Reaping: Not activated by a button press its activated by doing dmg so not hackable
Reinhard:
Hs no Passive
Roadhog:
Has no Passive
Soldier 76:
Has no Passive
Sombra:
Opportunist: Activeted by a certen Condishen (enemy under 50%hp) therfore not hackable
Symmetra:
Has no Passive
Torbjorn:
Scrap Collector: Not activated by a button press so not hackable
Tracer:
Has no Passive
Widowmaker:
Has no Passive
Winstion:
Has no Passive
Wrecking Ball:
Has no Passive
Zarya:
Energy: Not activated by a button press its activated by taking dmg with a bubble so not hackable
Zenyatta:
Has no Passive
Extra: Why do his orbs stay after hack?
Zen does not have the ability to “have” the orbs but to shoot them out hack only disables that. The reason why death removes is balance because Death is inconsistent (Removes Orbs but not nano, Removes TL but not trap etc)
Also, Sombra’s hack only affects the entity that gets hacked not anything outside of that.

Please don’t comment things like “Brigitte’s Passive should be hackable” or “Lucio’s Passive shouldn’t be hackable” this is a thread that shows how the game works right now (and to help people understand) not how you want to change it you can make a separate thread for that Thanks.
I just think for a character whose entire kit revolves around the one ability she’s supposed to be used for, it’s incredibly inconsistent. I still think she should be able to hack channeled ultimates like Tactical Visor, at least with EMP so she isn’t able to do it every 6 seconds.
Tac visor and not Hackable ults are the Transforming once and the actually hackable ults are the Channeled once its easy to swap so I understand.
Her Hack is a really strong ability I can understand that it would make sense for her to hack Transforming ults but balance whise it would make hack even stronger and it would make it really hard to have the rest of her kit be balanced while she has an OP ability.

It follows the rules yes you can disagree with them but they are not inconsistent.

My issue with it is understanding hack shouldnt require also understanding a bunch of secret rules.
It should be simple. Hack disables passives. Period.
EMP removes bonus types of health. Period.
Hack interrupts duration ultimates. Period.
Sure, I guess if we think up some rules we can try and make some sense of it all but intuitively, it makes no sense on first impressions.
If people need to write down notes on what it does and doesnt do cuz it feels different from one character to the next, its illogical and unintuitive.
I can understand that but we also need to think of Balance. So we can’t just let it hack all Passives and all duration ults etc.
And I see the problem with it but I think the best solution would be if they give us more information ingame I talked about his quite a few times on the forums we need to have some kind of advanced hero information screen (maybe a button that changes from the normal current screen to the advanced screen.
In this advanced screen things like if an active ability is Cast, Transform, channeled or Projectile would be stated on each ability also there would be accurate numbers and for abilities like hack and stun the rules would clearly be stated so advanced players could understand the mechanics of the game better.
How I said there are Transforming, Casttime, Channeled and Projectile active abilities (Including ults) The rules of hack go like this:
Hack disables all activation of further abilities but a Button press.
Hack cancels Channeled abilities while they are in use.
Hack cancels Cast time abilities while in Cast time.
Hack does not cancel Transforming abilities
-“Under-rule” to Transforming abilities: Hack does disable Transforming abilities that you swap between (Like Bastion’s Sentry or Hammonds ball.
Hack does not delete Projectile out of the air when the user of said projectile is hacked.
Then there are the Passive ability rules:
They also have a rule set of how they split the abilities into these categories.
but that would probably be to much for one post to explain xD
But if we would information like this into an advanced Hero information screen alot of people would stop complain about hack and how it works.
