This violation of debate rules has occurred literally hundreds of times in the history of my threads on Blizzard forums. The biggest perpetrators have been my harshest critics.
Daily reminder, if you are stuck thats where you belong. Get better or deal with it
I don’t play much anymore because of this. I’d like to have fun sometimes but losing streaks suck all the life out of it. Its often worse in QP. Fuggedaboudit!
It’s very important to be able to identify and call out flawed arguments. If a fallacy is committed, it should be called out and the argument should halt right there if its not acknowledged and corrected. If the person is literally going to argue in a way that violates logic, there’s no reason to go on.
Okay, so, here’s my take on the whole thing.
The problem with the idea of rigged matches, if it were the case, how on earth would smurfs, boosters and the old unranked to GM challange manage at all? Surely they would be only put against other high performing players in the same rank, rather than get a HUGE SR boost after winning?
Another problem is, there are two SR systems at play. That means double the data, double the rigging. PBSR below diamond and the flat win/loss SR at diamond and above. I don’t see how these systems would play nice together with rigged matches, it doesn’t make sense.
And the MMR including play style? C’mon seriously? Do you have any idea how much data would need to be collected to work that out?! Have you seen how little data is sent by the overwatch client? It’s surprisingly little.
As for ELO hell, does it exist? I think yes, to a minor degree, I believe it’s possible to be hard stuck a little under where you belong, simply because you need to excel in your rank to really climb. . .
As for the Brig player, who loses a lot of SR per loss and only gains 15 or so per win, it’s easy to explain. It’s mostly likely your own play style and since you mention the problem, that means you’re on PBSR, below diamond. The system, for whatever reason, is punishing you badly for losses and only mildly rewarding you for wins. I would stop, look at your vods, maybe get some advice on you play and see what it might be that’s causing the system to consider yout input to wins minimal and your input to losses so great , i.e numbers of deaths, inspire uptime.
So according to you and the other blamers on the forums, its fine to trash talk the system and teammates???
Grow up
It’s hard to understand what you’re saying here because of how it’s worded, but it seems like a false dichotomy/strawman if I’m understanding it correctly.
Also don’t understand what you mean here. You’ve really got to do more work to make your ideas clear, and to explain them better. It’s like you’re leaving out some of the premises/connective tissue between your argument and your conclusion.
Do you have any idea how much data Blizzard has collected over billions/trillions of matches? A lack of data can’t reasonably be the problem.
The question is not only whether you need to excel (that’s obvious), but by how much. And does the process take longer than it should. And is there a better alternative. And does a particular rank get grindier as higher skilled players more and more begin to populate that rank, because the ladder doesn’t work well. The solution here is not for a gold player to need to obtain diamond level skill to get out of gold. But a lot of this is, admittedly, subjective: the question “how good should you have to be to get out of silver?” will vary from person to person. And the people complaining about ELO Hell believe that the qualitative level is too high. There is no right or wrong opinion here.
According to me consumers have right to move critics about product and claim features or more or greater transparency in the services, it is entirely lawful and permitted by the forum regulation.
Attacking people personally instead of arguments, perhaps with insults as is customary with this group of users that I mentioned earlier, is not allowed ethically, nor by the forum rules.
It’s very simple as a speech, if you don’t like it you can argue why, but telling me to grow implies that I as a person have deficits, and we are always at the same point: attacking the person rather than the argument is against the rules.
"I love queuing for “Where I belong” mode. The mode that always keeps me where I belong. " I can’t wait to "Stay where I am forever because this game mode “where I belong” is awesome.
I’m going to go back in time to my undefeated Pony League team and tell all the losers that their place is where they belong. There is no winning next season for them because this season determined where they belonged. I can’t wait to end up at my where I belong rank next baseball season, undefeated in first place.
Before you think I’m a liar, I have two medals on necklaces that prove I was on undefeated Pony League team two years in a row. Why would I lie on anony internet forum for social points?
That’s a lot of words to ignore my question: Why is it fine in your and the other forums posters’ opinions to trash talk teammates when you play worse than them?
This is an indisputable fact, and why many report that their first account seems impossible to pull up despite ranking and playing routinely 1-2 tiers higher on anything but just pure carry characters like Torb, Moira, Bastion, etc.
I repeat, users can critic a replay and actions, but not insulting others, is in the CoC. You esplicity insulted others in many posts, since you started to post with this account. We all know is against CoC.
Then why do you guys keep insulting teammates when you play worse than them?
Never did anything similar. Quote anything of similar about me if you have 1 single post.
n.b.: heyzeus likes you on time and that’s not a good sign. Heyzeus traditionally inserts likes (always the same pack), together with other users, to those who explicitly insult, explicitly denigrate other users. The fact that you earned those likes, on time, is a clear indicator of anti-regulation behavior.
I said “you guys” for a reason, while you are trashtalking the system, others here on the forum keep trashtalking BOTH the system AND teammates, putting all the blame on them.
That is not acceptable, why not take responsibility for your mistakefilled gameplay?
So grouping people who think the MM is broken, and actively try and make it better is the same as someone who “trash talks their teammates?” This is the broken thought process that goes on. A lot of us, not all, just want better more evenly matched games. Regardless of what shiny fake medal emblazens our monitors. The reason I want this, and I think others do too (but I don’t speak for them) is because you can usually tell, regardless of a win or loss when you have an actual team that understands the game they are playing at same level as us. What we can also tell, most of the time, is where the problem is for the team. ESPECIALLY in the mid ranks… where they start new players. of all the changes I think would help, I rarely say this…because I understand it… and I can reason out a good why to do this. IMO OVER level 200 in experience… should not pair you with a level 26 at all. Not because they’re bad people, because they don’t understand the way the game is supposed to be played, feeding, playing for stats, playing for POTG, ETC. They may have the best gamesense ever for a team game, but don’t know how to combo ults, They may be a crack shot, great. But if they don’t realize whne they’re getting heals, or supported in game or how to use the tanks to their advantage, or when to use they’re ults not necessarily for play of the game, why are we grouped together. I try and combo ults… I’m a gold/silver player, why am I in the same group that bastions on first death?
Ok, saw your first quote to me.
This was a reply for Xon that personally attacked another one user using, among other things, citing the wife of others. Xon punctually received the like of heyzeus, abdullah and others of the pack for this “honorable behavior”.
You quoted me about this, so I can reply for me only about this, change the people you quote.
Have a good night.
The hidden MMR makes no sense and never has.
Play game…win game… get 25 points.
Play game…lose game…lose 30 points.
Reason for difference - not how you performed in that game, but a hidden metric about you trying to drag you to the level the arbitrary, extremely inaccurate metric thinks you should be at.
If your favorite athlete is a 100m runner, and he runs it in 9.80s, which is the fastest time, he gets the gold medal. But in Overwatch, if the last time he ran 10.05s, he somehow doesn’t - he gets a silver medal, because his hidden metric wasn’t high enough.
Any way you look at it, for each individual match, the hidden mmr makes no sense. Multiplying it by many games doesn’t help any either - it would be better if the points you gain/lose in a match were 100% based on what you did in that match, and were based on measures from that match.
Whoever thinks that Moira, Torb and Bastion carry outside of metal ranks should have their OW license revoked.
That’s the truth, buddy. When matches are algorithmically handicapped it has profound effects on players rank over the long term.
