To be fair, what benefit does a consumer have in knowing all the ins and outs of how the matchmaker works? If Activision Blizzard invested a lot of money into developing this algorithm, whether to increase the addictive nature of ranked games or to encourage new or bad players into keep playing the game by handicapping the game for them, that’s their choice isn’t it? As long as this system isn’t hurting the competitive nature of ranked, Blizzard can manipulate the matches all they want.
But if these anti-competitive handcapping people believe that this system is actually taking the competitiveness and enjoyment out of the game, then they also have all the right to present their own opinions on the matter too and ideally suggest a better alternative that’s present in other competitive games.
The first step to this is would be to prove this handcapping or foced 50/50, 40/60 or 40/40/20 even existing. Then explaining exactly why it’s not good for competitive.
Maybe that’s what this whole thread is about? I couldn’t be bothered watching the video at the top because it was too long and there was too many technical jargons being said, so my apologies on that regard. Anyways, I feel like people on both side of the fence are kind of in the wrong here.
On one side who believes this algorithmic handcapping existing and how it’s a problem, there are also those in the same group who takes it too far by saying things like even player’s hitbox and healing (yes healing) is “rigged” by the system. Which is just an absurd claim to be making and a funny joke at best. Some gravitates towards this group because they’re hardstuck in their rank and they can use this as an excuse for not improving and getting better at the game. Even if this sytem exists, that shouldn’t stop anybody from climbing if they put enough time into the game.
Then there are people on the other side who doesn’t believe in any of this nonesense of the matchmaker being “rigged”. Which is a fair opinion to be made. But instead of debating on why it’s unlikely to exist with their take, they just start name calling and making fun of these people which is unproductive.

After 6 months of insults and bullying with the approval of moderation (in any other forum this would not have happened) I made the counter (recently unfortunately). Baseless terminology, as anyone can notice, by doing a simple google search, is by no means indicated.
