After the investigation is it hard to play Blizard games?

That you are wildly incapable of nuanced understanding

I don’t really care about the lawsuit. Not my area of expertise so I just shut up and let the experts decide what punishment is worthy for who ever.

While I am ultimately a Blizzard gamer, and I will probably be one of the last individuals to fully bow out of World of Warcraft (besides, me sharing OWL match thread posting duties with WyomingMyst here on the OW forums means my goal of ā€œretiringā€ from the OW forums might never happen)…I do admit it is getting a bit harder to log in to World of Warcraft as of late (either the Classic or Retail versions of the game).

Yes, it’s been super hard bearing down on me yet i’m determined to get a silver portrait before OW2 so I have been playing but i did quit WoW and am now playing FF14

Also now with all the people who stayed and like sexism i have even more of a reason to use a voice changer to make my voice sound masc

The only difficult thing is watching this company go from creative mind blowing addictive fun game making to turn into worse cash grab soulless corporation.

This scandal along with their Blizzcon out of touch missteps are making them look worse than EA and Ubisoft.

Either take a hard look at themselves and change. Or we continue to watch the trainwrecks of mistakes continue to unfold.

On the plus side all of the head talent that actually made Overwatch and WoW when they were good games have left, and started their own companies. Dreamhaven, etc. I heard there’s at least 5 now, all indie game devs studios that are working on video game projects.

So in like… 2-3 years, we’ll have some fresh new games to enjoy.

Yay?

It doesn’t affect me whatsoever.
Might make me seem like I don’t care… but it’s just that not playing the game isn’t going to help too much in my opinion. I play the game whenever I’m in the mood to do so.

I could be wrong but I heard that none of the issues occurred in the overwatch department

Honestly I barely have any idea what s going on… and I already paid for the game. Playing it isn’t going to earn them any more or less money from me.

Add to that pretty much every single company in the world is corrupt in some way. Exploiting child labor sweat shops, killing their workers with over time, sexual or verbal abuse and so on…

It’s a nice idea to boycott anything you disagree with… but it wouldn’t leave you much of anything to watch (all of hollywood is pretty corrupt), eat or any where to sleep. Pretty sure if you look into any company over 50 people it’s going to have one or more bad actors in it.

Nope. Live long enough and you will find that every institution you think is ā€œgoodā€ invariably turns out to have a dark side somewhere. Don’t let it get to you.

Not really. Activision Blizzard is one of a few game publishers I’ve been boycotting for years because I don’t like their business practices. I still play Overwatch because I paid for the thing like 5 years ago but haven’t spent any additional money on it and won’t ever spend money until they prove they can be a better company.

It’s too bad supporting developers in the case of a company like this is meaningless. Even when the company is boosting record revenue they still throw away mass amounts of employees regularly while awarding executives with completely immoral amounts of money.

1997 sure was a different time…

If you only knew of the travesties Hollywood commits on aspiring Actors/Actresses trying to pay their bills, you would never watch a movie again.

But you have since you were born, so you support:

  • Extortion
  • S*xual assault of all degrees
  • Narcotics
  • Possible heinous acts involving non-adults
  • Politics that support Anti-human rights.

But let’s feel bad about this one specifically because its popular.

If everyone stopped themselves from using products made by horrible people we’d be losing alot of things in our daily lives. Not to mention not everyone at blizzard is responsible for this.

There’s heaps of stuff I’ve not seen, but there was a tweet from someone who works on OW stating that the OW team treats her really well and that it shouldn’t be down to luck on whether she gets treated well or not, though I’m practically playing Chinese whispers here so I’d take that with a grain of salt

There is no such thing as an entirely ā€œcleanā€ consumptive experience.

All things we consume that are not the direct result of our own work from start to finish have corruption in them. This is just the nature of capitalism with humans.

The best you can do is try not to directly support known committers of atrocities and lessen your personal impact.

Playing a video game made by a company that had some ( not trivializing, just to be sure) really bad things going on, is not directly supporting those actions.

The game has already been bought. Maybe don’t buy new games or purchase anything till this has been settled… but logging into overwatch for some rounds?

As a meat eater, technology user and someone who lives on stolen land. Hard for me to say that playing a game is some sort of moral quandry.

There’s a reason people still make content about harassment and women needing to be taught at a young age to be overly aware of their surroundings, have their keys ready as a weapon and having other forms of self defense, reasons why songs like Dua Lipa’s Boys Will Be Boys and other stuff is still relevant in this day and age. It’s sad and shameful.

I hate being a man when I have to be associated with the same group of people who don’t know personal boundaries, limits, or just downright basic human decency. I would never harass anyone or make them feel uncomfortable or unwelcome and have to be associated with them everyday and why women can’t feel comfortable out after dark or with what they’re wearing.

This needs to stop and children need to be taught at a young age that this behavior is not okay. Don’t expect them to grow out of it because ā€œboys will be boysā€. DISCIPLINE THEM. Be a part of the movement that helps end this discrimination as much as possible. I want to end the need for songs like Boys Will Be Boys and MANY other forms of content to exist.

It will probably never happen because humans are selfish by nature, but one can hope…

i may as well keep playin the ones i paid 4 bcuz it forces some server upkeep
but im not going to bother watching content or helping any of the content creation ecosystem
those ppl need to move off and contribute to society elsewhere
it’s alrdy too top heavy with more ppl being paid for owl related bloat than all of gold online during primetime gaming hours.

and yes let wallet do the voting and boycott future products from a team that provides 0 content, 0 updates, 0 comms, 0 cheat detect, 0 effort. and that rigs fairness in every match, forcing close fights vs smurfs all day, but cant even rig a fair workplace environment after countless plees for exposure

Michael Jackson wasn’t a child molester… He was acquitted and most of the people admitted to making it up.

You’re hearing about a small percentile of employees. Most are hard working people who are passionate about what they create. Remember that.
