After Genji hitbox gets changed... What's the next thing you guys will use as a pretense to stealth nerf Genji?

^

Almost 100% confident that the hitbox won’t get a net nerf. Pretty sure that it will actually be exactly the same in terms of power or even stronger with an increase. Which is how it should be since 80% of people complaining about Genji’s hitbox are literally support mains where it’s completely irrelevant what is his exact hitbox and were just using that as a pretense for nerfing him. When all other arguments about nerfing Genji get shot down, then they resort to hitbox complaints. It’s going to be pretty amusing to see what is the next thing they will attempt to come up with after it goes through.

Blizzard has already said multiple times that they think Genji is fine. They won’t change his power level or his deflect damage potential. They will just give people what they asked for, a matching hitbox. Since that was the thing that was being used to badmouth Kaplan for that response about not shooting him.

Meaning, very likely they will just match the animation and maybe tweak the hitbox and make it more curved so that it’s easier to make a matching animation, which will actually give him even more protection, especially from the sides.

NGL, gonna be pretty satisfying to watch everyone who wanted him stealth nerfed through hitbox complaints struggling to find a next reason to stealth nerf him.

If it stays the same size but just has an accurately scaled visual representation, that’s only going to add more fuel to the fire regarding the comparisons against Reinhardt and Orisa barrier sizes. Then we’d be able to put them side by side and it would be a lot harder for people to say “It’s totally fine bruh.”

So having his hitbox reduced will look like a stealth nerf to you? Dude that’s a fix plus it needs fixing.

Anything that lessens effectiveness does not classify as a fix, it is a nerf.

A fix corrects something that was not intended to be in the game.

wtf bro, even if its nerf or buff it won’t make huge difference. It will be visible and people won’t shoot at it by mistake, that’s all that matters.

They also said Mercy rework was a success.

But don’t worry, you’ll see a lot more crying about Moira and Brigitte from Gengu mains, than supports crying about Gengu.

The reason why hitbox is big is so that he can deflect more damage. Deflect is just as much of an offensive ability as it is a defensive. That’s the entire goal of the ability. To give him effective frontal invulnerability while also being able used as an offensive tool in certain situations. If it is too small, it doesn’t do the #2 task adequately. I am pretty certain that they won’t change the actual deflect surface area. Exactly because of this reason. They said multiple times that they think that Genji is balanced and that he doesn’t need adjustments. But the forums insisted. So, yeah. Blizz is gonna give them what they want. But it won’t be an actual nerf in terms of deflect area reduction.

But it was meant to be in the game. That’s the thing. The hitbox is entirely intentional. It’s not a bug. People complaining about it is why it’s getting changed. Not because it’s unintentional.

It would be a nerf if they reduced the size though.

Pretty sure that the total number of supports complaining only about Genji is larger than all the number of people complaining about Moira or Brigitte.

And as for Mercy rework, yes, it was succesful in the sense that encouraging players to die while hiding has stopped being a playstyle. They didn’t say that she was balanced (in fact they said that she was too strong in the same sentence), they said that the goal of the rework was accomplished, which is to prevent “die on point i have rez” thing. Because, while Valk was cancerous until it got tweaked, Mass Rez was pretty cancerous as well.

Having his hitbox reduced is a nerf and I’m pretty confident that it won’t happen. His deflect hitbox size is entirely intentional. They even said that. What was the issue is the animation which wasn’t matching it. But the actual hitbox size was 100% intentional. It was not a bug.

But genji has a lot of overpowered things like deflect ,dragonblade ,no drop off on shurikens, dash reset on ult and on kill ,too high damage on primary

We only need to remove all of the above ,it’s not a big nerf ,you just need to get good.

Though in all seriousness ,the forums will always find something with genji to Q.Q about ,the only way for them to shut up would be to make him the worst hero in the game ,and even then you’ll still find at least one thread a day

Pretty much. Even with the “broken” hitbox, he was/is pretty much entirely balanced. If not the most balanced hero in the game.

And when you shoot down all the fake arguments, then they resort to things such as this. And they will get it. But it won’t be what they want it to be. It won’t be a net nerf. And then they will move on to something else.

I can guarantee it’ll be either dash resets or canceling deflect with dash into combo.

Welp, guess your prediction was wrong.

I love Genji, I’ve seen clips of some silly deflects but it’s not like Genji is the only hero with some glitches cough reinhardt * cough*. I doubt the change will make any difference, Genji will still be able to survive getting shot while deflecting but bad players will have abit more help, like they needed it
