Its not toxic tho so I don’t mind. I wouldn’t get banned for that. Not even Blizzard is that dumb. I don’t care about someones seggsual preference or pronouns when I am randomly matched with them and will probably never be matched with them again. In a 20 min game I wont bother myself to learn someones pronoun so I will just call them by their hero pick. I wont say "Walmart bag be ready I have ult lets combo " I will say “Genji its genjin time I have ult”
You usually take on the gender of the character your playing, or ppl default to “ ashe is throwing they havent left spawn”
“Our genji is popping off, they get blade so fast”
You were flagged by (probably well over a hundred) users - who agree en masse that this whole thing is a bad idea - because the intent is to personally assign your label and express yourself, but the actual outcome would do little more than increase division and toxicity.
On top of that, people who feel a need to enforce their personal views on the world while disregarding solid info because it makes them feel bad are the reason there’s been such an insane spike in hatred in the world over the last decade.
Nobody flagged you to be mean or intolerant. If anything, they want to be able to tolerate more people more peacefully. Have a little faith in humanity; they’re against the increased aggression and toxicity that you are trying to invite.
You seeing this? This is exactly why this is the dumbest f’n thing you can add to the game. Theiy’re gonna use this as a weapon to silence other non-LBGT+ players.
If you’re playing Moira and I say “Moira’s not healing me, she keeps healing the tank.” but you’re a he IRL and it’s in your battletag and pronoun tag you’re gonna throw a fit and go “HOW DARE YOU, CAN’T YOU SEE MY NAME!? WHY DIDN’T YOU READ MY TAG? ARE YOU TRYING TO BE DISRESPECTFUL? YOU’RE TRYING TO OPPRESS ME AND MY ENITRE COMMUNITY! EERRRR AHHHHH REPORTED!!! I HOPE YOU GET MUTED AND SUSPENDED AND BANNED!”
The only result from this is you’re gonna make no one want to interact with pronoun tag players and red flag them cause they’re a risk to talk to.
I swear to Cthulu that if you don’t address me as xe/xim then I will make sure blizzard perma bans ur account. If they don’t I’ll run to twitter, that user base will understand now more than ever!
Yes exactly. It’s also a very bad idea because it will open players up to toxic comments.
Blizz already doesn’t want us to know a player’s level, profile details, even specific rank. They’re gonna let players know something PERSONAL about another player? No way, it just invites controversy. Really bad idea and I do believe this is a troll post.
In video games nobody cares what you are or what you call yourself, The only people who cares about gender and sexuality are people that needs to get away from games like Overwatch where kids are likely to play and get on more adult online games I already mentioned Second Life.
This is bad as people trying to use this game as a dating platform, Why is Tinderwatch allowed?
Genji, please try and flank the Widow
Mercy, can you pocket the sniper more?
Rein, protect the blah blah blah
The point is, I’m not even calling people by their battletag/ID. You know why? Because I’d have to spell their name correctly to not feel dumb, and I’d rather play the game than make sure I’m spelling your name right. I’ll continue to call you by your character (If I even feel a need to talk at all in a game)
Also worth noting, I don’t really look at titles either. And that’s what you’re waning to have identify you, as though I’m calling people “SOandSO the Medic”
Or should I start calling myself sicmagg0t the bytefixer? Don’t worry, I won’t. That would be silly.
I was already falsely accused of trolling by many many people and blizzard restored my post because it isn’t a troll post, it is a valid post with a terrific idea to give players more customization options.
i think even putting he/him (if its optional) will get you some hate lol.
As someone who uses they/them I agree with people saying this is a bad idea and would just invite more toxicity. Its very unfortunate that that’s the way it is. The ow community still has a hissy fit anytime someone asks for more of X representation. What else could be the outcome lol
I’m not even gonna mention all the toxicity this would bring. Not that it matters anyways, you ignore all these valid counterpoints because it’s such “a terrific idea.”
…I guess in current day the problem is if you get someone’s ‘nickname’ or ‘name shortening preference’ wrong it’s not really a big deal but if you misgender someone (intentional or not) it’s seen as a huge deal (and likely to garner false reports to those sensitive to it when it may have been an honest mistake)…
…it is interesting that some countries are attempting to legislate it and/or enforce it through punitive measures however…
