People have been wanting to to buy skins instead of lootboxes.
Here they are giving people that option. It’s not like it’s locked away, you can get it without spending money.
I don’t have a problem with that.
What I have a problem with, is the game puts you against better players who have things you don’t have. To get you to spend money. And then the game will actually put you againts worst players once you spend money. To make it look like it was a good investment.
And also things like, actually making it near impossible to get without spending money.
If lootboxes where fair. That would be fine. It’s just the shading ways of getting you to buy lootboxes which is wrong.
what are you going on about, you talking about overwatch or call of duty? because the lootboxes in overwatch only give you cosmetic items that do not give you any advantage or disadvantage over other players, doesnt matter if your using the classic junkrat skin or the beachrat your skill is still the same so if you suck you suck if you dont then you dont the skin/weapon you use have no input on that
Ive only said one example of the changes that happened. In HS, yes i can understand the advantage giving since thats a F2P. HotS and OW has Loot Box system as well and they were after the merging.
Other example: Activision and Blizzard starts to develop mobile games in the exact same time.
You using a rainbow six title as an exempel of how Ubisoft aren’t as greedy as Activison?
Last time I opened my copy of Siege I got spammed with all sorts of store news, special deals etc. not to mention that that you kind of have to pay a lot more than just the copy of the game costs in order to unlock playable in-game content aka super meta characters, don’t really know any other FPS game that want to be competitive that does that, not even PUBG Corp are that greedy for crying out loud.
Is siege good? Sure the game is better than many other games and the concept is neat/fun/original however graphic & physics are really outdated though considering when it was released, lots of small things here and there that they should have fixed and so on…
But again, Ubisoft is a real trash company and most of the good games they’ve released havent’ been multiplayer games but single player ones (splinter cell series for example). Also if you’d base the greed level on the quality of their best game(s), at least when specifically making it into a multiplayer thing ubisoft would never be able to beat activison since activison have the quake series.
I mean, if you can’t even see how Blizzard is going after the Diablo Immortal disaster, Wow since Cataclysm, Employees leaving and getting paid to leave the company, OW bad balance that takes years to fix stuff, forcing the game into Esports (money) and the fact that Mike Morhaime left, I dunno what to say honestly.
Activisioon owns Blizzard. Blizzard is just a title. They call all the shots for Blizzard. The difference is that they allowed Blizzard to make most of their own choices for a while and Activision would approve of it and give them budget.
At&T bought out Directv. Lots of people lost their jobs after that. But Directv just became a label. At&T chancged everything in and out of how directv works. ITs just AT&T.
Corporations buy out other corporations and little businesses and keep their labels for a couple reasons. 1, it fools consumers into thinking nothing is changing quickly. 2. They make money on allowing that bought business to function as normal as long as they are adapting to making money for the parent company now. But if they have to, they WILL step in and take over.
In overwatch case it’s not about the microtransactions being too intrusive since I’m pretty sure the vast majority of the playerbase finds the cosmetic skin boxes acceptable and the rate you can unlock things F2P is good.
It’s more about Blizzard not address certain issues and cutting down on costs at the expanse of quality while at the same time wanting more by focusing on aspects that should come second hand to any game that claims wanting to be competitive by any means.
They make way more than 200k a year btw. Recently in Nov, a lot of opfficers and alike pulled out around 4 - 50 million dollars in stocks alone.
Heck, they even gave $10,000,000 to a guy they just terminated from their company who left to join netflix.
These multi billion dollar companies hardly dump money and resources into their products anymore. they want to do the bare minimum.
What they do not realize is, if you make a great product, the people have no problem giving more money. Its when you upset the consumers and show greedy tactics is when they begin to stop caring.
Exactly this. This is not about overwatch exactly. The system rides a fine line, but they could push it a little more if they want.
It’s more about the overall changes to games in general, and then seeing Activision and its influence on Blizzard products.
There used to be something called “Blizzard polish” and it’s still a thing. But it’s vanishing when their products are starting to feel mediocre more and more along side with the general games out there.
Once again, you are not even reading anyones posts. You keep thinking this is about overwatch. When it’s not about the current state of overwatch. Please stay on topic.
