Aaron Keller once said locking heroes is bad

You said it correctly Assistant Director, Kaplan was the one calling the shots and making the game the way it was back then, now that assistant is the apointed director which is bending over and getting told on how to make the game unlike Jeff which protected the Overwatch team so they could make a game on their own.

You can clearly see his leadership is one of following orders not working with his team like they used to.

I had completely forgotten that Jeff Kaplan had been replaced.
Aaron Keller doesn’t seem to talk much since he has this new role.

Plans change. Even if they wanted to give us what we wanted. Those men & woman in suits would not allow it.

did you notic the fun little “Cautionary Note” at the bottom of the FAQ? Pure gold!
as I said in another thread

Almost like people can change their opinion after 7 years or something…

Let us introduce hero limits and then role-queue, both direct contradictions to this.

I am guessing the resistance was strong for a very long time, but eventually it couldn’t be tolerated any more so Jeff just left. I think I understand now.

Aha! But $ee, what you are totally mi$$ing is that, and you will have to $tick with me here, becau$e, you know, it$ like, $omething $o many are ignoring, that there i$, like, you know, thi$ whole other a$pect you’re not taking into account, that no one ha$ thought of before, about the thing you rai$ed, and it$ not all that obviou$ at first, but it$ like, this huge list of reason$ that everyone $hould consider in relation to this and uhhh, hmmmm. I re$t my ca$e.

Let’s be real though, there is still the option to play any character in the game in any match right now, soon that will not be the guaranteed. And it doesn’t matter how much YOU have spent on the game, the other people in your competitive match may one day only have 2/3 of the roster, with the good 1/3 that are probably OP unavailable to your team.

THATS THE GAME I WANT TO PLAY! :sarcasm:

Well, we don’t know why he left. People will ascribe their favorite thing of the moment, I think it was a combination of factors, the investigation (he was a leader on WoW when a lot went down there, he had to know), the MS acquisition was almost ready to be announced, and yeah he was already in the hot seat for how he handled OW1.

Thanks for digging up this article, OP. I guess only the beta and launch players remember, but setting heroes and maps in stone as freely available was a huge issue and selling point that was clarified during Overwatch 1’s development. The community was not on board with P2W. A large part of Overwatch’s just massive, immediate success was the fact that it was viewed as a modern AAA title with old school principles for pricing and game play (no DLC, no P2W, skill first not grinding).

It’s really disappointing to see Activision Blizzard / Microsoft Gaming force a P2W model on a PvP title that once stood for the complete opposite.

I say years ago I would never stick my D in A…but here I am .

This is the main reason they are calling an update a sequel. They do not want to be held liable for old promises. Will gamers just eat it up? Probably not. But they expect people to pretend 3 new heroes with a mode replacing a mode with the same problem means this is an entirely new game. That is how out of touch they are.

The literal marketing for the game is just Kiriko because we are just resuming where we left off before they abandoned the game. Nothing much else. I mean, maybe “competitive 2.0” without a rank reset will be announced next week? Who knows?

Well Ana is a gilf, so it’s understandable.

Post lunch with better information I now totally agree with you and kind of wish loot boxes were back

That was a long lunch

But yeah, joking aside, at least you can recognize how much we got back then compared to now.

Some people on these boards are still arguing that progression is better because we see a line with some stuff in it…instead of literally counting what they could get from boxes, considering the amount of effort effort it took, and how much time it took.

I mean…the people who reached level 80 can only get titles for the next month

Some people cant handle changing a point of view

More like greed for money. Also quit necroing threads.

Thats good to call him out on it. It needs to be done.

Just think about all the brand new players… nearly every single hero is locked for them (I think apart from 5 or 6) unless the buy the pack or play a certain amount of games to unlock the next one.
