I’ve almost always liked all of the new heroes. But what bothers me is not so much seeing certain characters who seem to have literally come out of nowhere and not giving us a real contextualization of what mission they have in the world of Overwatch at first impact (like Freja and Aqua today)… but that I don’t feel like I’m living the world of Overwatch lately. I’m talking specifically about the “Omnic” presence.

If it’s true that one of the narrative bases of the world of Overwatch is a shared planet between humans and omnics… why the hell do we have SO few omnic heroes? We’ve already decreed that they’ve been humanized by Aurora, that some even learn human traditions, folklore, and cultures. But then… why can’t we have unique omnic heroes just as we always have so many unique humans?
we don’t necessarily need a “new omnic model”, because then we can say that we don’t need junkerqueen because the big girl concept is already done by Zarya. But we don’t do that because junkerqueen is not just a human: she lives in a different area than Zarya, she is in a different faction, she has a completely different personality, etc.
So if Aurora gave omnics free will… why can’t we have omnic heroes who show their uniqueness? Zanyatta and Ramattra are different for the omnic model, for the faction, for the personality. but frankly I’m tired of having only them as standard examples of omnics (for those who don’t know, Orisa and Echo, not having experienced the awakening, are called “robots”). Bob is an example of an omnic with a different build from Zenyatta, but he has character, uniqueness, he recognizes himself on the battlefield.
I would like to see more omnic heroes. omnics who, like human heroes, represent the world in turn. for example an Italian omnic artist, a French omnic chef, an American omnic director (any reference to HAL-fred glitchbot is coincidental XD)

Yes, they are not giving us playable omnics, while they have great Omnic side characters:
Bars, Deadlock Rebels omnic sniper,
Lynx Seventeen, omnic hacker
Max, omnic billionaire and Talon’s money fund, basically
Nameless, ex Null Sector and ex-friend of Ramattra, (who is very hero potential tbh)
Kace, Tracer’s antagonist from King’s Row underground
Luna, the Paris cabaret owner,
Revel and Suzie (thank’s to Hazard recent addition to the lore)
And all the various omnic artists (musician and singers, painter and scuplter)
Hell, we did have some wanted omnics in paris Police Station and a full set up for some omnic revolution set up in Paris that they never did anything with (Liberte, the french omnic revolutionnaire street artist, the wanted omnics on posters in the police station)
I really want to know why they are not giving us omnic heroes… (most likely, it won’t sell as many skin as Kiriko does nor Freja will, tbh)
Oh, and we do have an italian omnic artist bth : the Rialto gallery is showing off their work, their name is Leonora Botruvio

Its pretty obvious at this point that the Devs have taken a direction away from the Omnics, in terms of playable heroes, and instead is going forward with all Human heroes. Its a damn shame really because the Omnics we have on the current roster, Zenyatta, Orisa and Ramattra, are all really cool, unique characters!
Maybe, just maybe after Aqua, will we get another Omnic. With the re-release of OW2 into China, perhaps China’s advanced robotic technologies will reinspire the Dev team into creating more Omnic heroes. Its a long shot, but its all we can hope for at this point

I’m sorry if my comments come off a bit harsh. I really want more Omnic heroes, but it seems like Blizzard hasn’t added any in a while. They seem to be focusing more on human-like characters, around 9 to 10 feet tall. Here are my thoughts:
- Recent heroes like Illari, Juno, Hazard, Freya, and the upcoming Chinese character all have standard human proportions, which are easier to design artistically.
- If you look at the skin surveys, it’s clear that heroes with standard body types and well-defined meta attributes (like character anchors) are more likely to get new skins.
- I checked out Hazard’s early designs, which were distinctive, fun, and matched Blizzard’s usual art style. But the final design feels chaotic and unrecognizable, like a mix of Sigma and Mauga’s faces put through an AI.
By the way, I always thought each season should have a consistent theme, like Season 14’s winter theme or Season 13’s focus on the Middle Ages and Mythology. Honestly, I don’t get what Blizzard means by “honor-glory” when they release skins that don’t seem related at all. I can’t find the “honor” or the “glory” in them.
So, I’m worried we’ll just keep getting more heroes and skins for characters like Mercy and Kiriko that don’t fit the theme. As for Ramattra, I’m not sure—maybe he’s already been forgotten.
