Mice nowadays are set to 4 primary DPI levels. (400, 800, 1600, 3200)
What would happen if I played at a DPI of like 500, or even 1000?
I have been thinking to use 1000 or 500 DPI for a long time now, and people say pixel skipping is a myth so I don’t know if it’s a good choice.
I’ve done tons of research on the subject but still am yet to come to an answer.
You can use whatever number you want. I used 1200 for a few months recently. What really matters is you eDPI, which is you DPI x your in-game sense.
My eDPI is 4000 for example. (800 x 5)
The general rule is to keep the number under 10K. Some pro players go as low as 2000.
Its all about personal preference.
Well, you see, I use 2 sensitivities.
I am using 1000 DPI rn but thinking of dropping it to 500.
My sens is:
3.33 all heroes (Except sens #2). Scope: 45.44.
Genji/Pharah/Main Tanks, Etc 8.
Those numbers seem fine. I use a slightly higher sens for a few heroes too, like Mercy and a couple of tanks.
Yeah, but would lower DPI be problematic for heroes like Genji who I use high sens on?
Pixel skipping is not a myth, just a misnomer. Many pros play at 400DPI, and generally speaking there’s no real harm in using values that are not nice multiples like 400, 800, 1600, etc (but may depend on the mouse sensor).
If you lower your DPI by half, then you can just increase your sens by x2 and it will feel exactly the same.
Ok, I’ll try it out see if it feels better or worse.
I just set my dpi to what felt best when using my desktop and then adjusted the sens to match.
Your DPI does not matter, the only thing that matter is your E-DPI (DPI*Ingame Sens)
The only benefit for lowering the MOUSE DPI is that you’re able to achieve lower sens due to the minimum 1in game sens limit
800DPI * 1 in game sens= 800 DPI
800DPI * 2 ingame sens= 1600 EDPI
1600DPI *1 in game sens = 1600 EDPI
You won’t have to adjust your scoped sens at all since that is all relative.
These are the generally accepted values to get as close to 1:1 when scoped:

I come from CS:GO and got my scope values from there.
(I used 1 sens, 1000 DPI in CS:GO)
That’s why I don’t use 38 Scope.
