A Mercy revert could revive Overwatch

The revert represents more than just Mercy. It would express Blizzard are actively trying to take steps in the right direction.

Not really Fuwa, Blizzard has been ignoring us since september 2017, what do you expect? They will never listen to us, they will keep nerfing her until this horrible rework will work in their favour. Until then, we will have to wait to see the damage boost nerf, and the GA nerf, because we all know that it will happen.

It seems like Rez on a 30 second cooldown is even more unhealthy for the game.

I am living for this comment, because it is the truth, not like what everyone says ^^

Old Sym was never OP mate, what game have you been playing?

An ultimate shouldn’t be an ability on a 30 second cooldown? b-but, Jeff-sama said Mercy is fine.

Playerbase didn’t start to drastically fall off till Dive comp, it then continued to drop at a slower rate during Brigette/Hanzo no skill meta.

That’s exactly what Zen does but nobody seems to have any problem with it.

Agreed.

Blizzard doesn’t need to ditch any of their work.

Just simply switch Valkarie (which is a poorish ultimate) and Rez (which is too powerful as an ability) around and rebalance as appropriate.

Valkarie - 30 sec cool-down, 5 sec duration, Mercy regen can be interrupted with damage.

Rez - Ultimate ability. Rez’s all allies in 15m radius. ‘Team mate down’ indicator showing nunber of allies in Rez area re-introduced.
Requires LOS. Has a cast time akin to current rez. No invulberability during casting. Can be interrupted.

Staff - return to 60HPS healing rate

Job done…

The mobility / speed / damage of Valkarie allows for interesting Mercy plays and occasional battle Mercy use but is on s long cool-down as a powerful ability.

Rez can only be balanced as an ultimate. Restore mass Rez and the indicator - this was a cool mechanic. Keep the cast time and lack of invulberability during the cast = hide and Rez tactics ineffective.

It has counters though. It can be overcome in more ways then “just kill zen 4head”.

We’re not talking about counterplay here. The post I quoted was only highlighting the double standard with old rez and trans.
But if you want to talk about counterplay, rez had counterplay.

I guess I didn’t say it properly then… Old Sym was OP for lower ranks, but garbage for higher ranks. That is unhealthy for the game, especially for a character like Symmetra, who wasn’t in the meta for 2 years. Sym still needs changes, but it is still better overall than old Sym

Liiiike… kill Mercy beforehand? Or dump another ult?

First of all you can’t kill zen because he uses his ult the moment he takes damage. Secondly, reviving didn’t automatically capture objectives you know. You still had to fight and hope for the best.

Mercy’s invulnerability was only for a couple seconds to prevent her killing herself when ulting. Zen’s invulnerability is for his entire ult duration.

Lastly, of course if there is an ability in any game which revives players, depleting all your resources into them beforehand is never a good idea.

Bait her ult. Pressure her to give her only bad alternatives: rez to early or die with rez.
Keep an ult for the post-rez fight. (Do not forget that you will gain 2000-3000 ult charge during the first fight)
There were tons of ways to counter rez.
People need to stop ignoring them.

Overwatch isn’t dying because of Mercy, it is dying because of paid legendary skins and emotes, taking forever to balance a broken character and all the rest you already see everywhere so i’m not typing again.

You can kill Zen before he uses it though. Yes, it’s too late when he activates it - but it’s the same with invul Mercy. Ult will go off.

Except Zen’s ult can be negated by nano or bruteforced through. You can displace his teammates out of it, or displace Zen himself. You can throw in burst abilities, against which trans doesn’t do ****. On certain maps, you can drive Zen himself off the cliff.

Trans has more ways to be countered. Period.

And all of those things apply to Trans as well, soo…

If Mercy ults too early to prevent dying, it’s too late. She can’t then move to a more ideal location and then revive. She would likely only revive a a player or two in a panic response. Also known as “Tempo Rez”.

Same with Mercy’s ult. Bruteforce works for both except Mercy’s team doesn’t get huge AOE heals.

Same with Mercy. In fact, displacement takes no effort because people respawn where their ragdolls land which is sporadic and scattered.

Mercy couldn’t fly when ulting so the same is possible.

They each have their own counterplays.

ummmm no. Stop acting like Mercy 1.0 would save the game, the game that isn’t even that dead. Sure, many people left out of frustration but it isn’t ONLY because mercy!!! There are other things people are annoyed with. Current meta, hanzo, brigitte, horrible state of sombra, symms rework (to some extend) toxicity, unfair matchmaking, throwers and so on. Reverting mercy will never fix that.
People come and go it’s natural, they don’t have to play this (or any) game forever.
