A bet on the big 2026 update

I too am one of the many players hoping hero bans are removed from this game or quarantined to its own arcade mode

Strange how some forum members claim (including in this very thread) this cant or wont happen, even though they dont have any decision making power at Blizzard. This is similar to how I was told hundreds of times by dozens of forum members that Pink Mercy wouldnt be returning…and of course, it did return

A large and growing number of players want hero bans gone

Do you have any evidence to back this up? i only really see you and 2 other people complain

Where’s your proof for this claim that bans are becoming more and more disliked?

Oh wait it doesn’t exist THEY’RE STAYING

I, and a large growing number of players, want hero bans in QP.

I think the most obvious way to change up the core game right now is expanding the perk system, but I think it’s too soon for that, I’d say maybe it’s a 25% chance this year

I thought when stadium was newer that it was a trying ground before eventually adding 3p to the base game, but seeing how even in stadium 3p has a mixed reception I don’t think it’ll ever happen

Teammups I’d say are less than 5%. It’s just a bad idea

I think we’re at least a few years away from PvE being even remotely on the table

I don’t think they’re changing the basic format anytime soon.

So yeah in terms of the core game I have no idea what they’ll change.

But just to not be boring I’ll throw a wild prediction out there. They do some kind of system where when you select a hero you can pick to use an alternate version of their kit with its own strengths and weaknesses. Like something akin to the mirrorwatch versions of kits but balanced for the basegame. It’s probably a bit too ambitious, similar to perks, and it’d conflict with perks themselves, but idk just wanted to take a stab at something

I think the big change will be that Aaron Keller does a single dev update that actually has substance to it.

That would be groundbreaking and destroy the internet for sure. Overwatch would never be the same after that. Personally I might go into cardiac arrest, and I think civilization as we know it would crumble.

My bet is they’ll make things even worse.

Hopefully the gamechanging content is just a huge Ana nerf and reworking Orisa, Mauga, Hog.

There is going to be a Netflix Show and they are going to reset ranks and do new perks and still not buff tracer and actually nerf vendetta all filler nerfs in todays patch notes and there will be nothing really big like were all expecting

If it’s even 25% as good as Arcane then it would be worth.

Oh boy if theres a show then that probably would means DVA will get even more popular and then get buffs and be OP finally! My soul needs a DVA meta.

My console pleb soul has seen nothing but a D.va meta for over a year

Many players enjoy playing DVa

It is a shame when selfish players get her banned from play

She is absolutely not broken despite claims otherwise

It’s a shame she’s broken on console so she gets that ban hammer 24/7. Had the highest WR and PR in the final seasons of Overbuff and still does with the stat site. She has a 69% WR in GM Asia last I checked.

So anyway PRAISE BANS PRAISE BANS

They’re going to go the full paladins route with card decks and and an item shop in game.

She absolutely is.

You don’t play console, you’re not a high rank. Even Blizzard themselves has said D.va overperforms on console and that it’s an issue for them while trying to balance her for PC and console.

Do not attempt to speak on matters you know nothing about.

Anyway PRAISE BANS PRAISE BANS HALLELUJAH

Overwatch has always had “team-ups” even though they’re not in the forms of a specific passive or extra ability like in Marvel Rivals.

Any Overwatch player knows there are combos of ults or abilities with many heroes to use.

The only positive thing that could come out of adding more team-oriented features to Overwatch would be nullyfing the “solo minset” and “deathmatchy” aspect that got introduced ever since they forced 5v5 on us.

But again, if “team-ups” are really on their way (in the same form as in MR), it’s gonna feel clunky in 5v5. It’d only make more sense in 6v6 and devs despise that team set-up… and don’t even balance the game around it.

So I don’t know… I still think what Overwatch as a franchise needs is a real sequel that starts from scratch. Adding more ingredients to a 10-year old stale cake is pointless.

Perks were a good addition but did they really enhance the game in terms of gameplay… ? Not really.
