Unless I play at insane-'o-clock at night/morning. Once again I ask, is ANYONE else on the ord1 server experiencing this? Or is this YET ANOTHER me problem? I used to get 50-60ms ping or so even during normal hours. Now it’s 90 during that time
Right,
It’s a you thing. If you are going and having high ping times during the day and evening but it fades late at night, that’s normally network congestion. My ping is 15, that’s it. When it’s congested IE the kids are on break it’s around 86-95. If it’s a constant issue it generally means your ISP needs to expand because the DSLAM or CMTS is full or close to it. Upgrading the internet typically doesn’t fix it. Finding a new ISP sometimes does depending on what the backhauls of the town or city look like.
I’ll have to figure out if any new devices may have been added to the network recently, because this only started about a week or two ago I would say. Nothing is coming to mind, but maybe
Not to mention any time I suggest that we have issues to the person who actually has access to the router and everything, it’s as if I’d insulted his mother ![]()
Also, we have two different connections on this router. One of them is 5G (the one I’m on), and the other isn’t. There are a few other devices on the 5G connection, but hopefully we could switch some of them to the other connection and it might help?
Before I explain this mess did you Atleast install the ram? I can hear your laptop crying from here. ![]()

I ah
I have not
My brain is a mess asdfghjkl; but I DO have it on hand and once I’ve stopped being swamped and nocturnal and overwhelmed by everything, I have everything I need to do that and at least clean the fans for now
Admittedly, I think the other biggest reason for my procrastination is I’m terrified of the static. It’s dry in here. But I suppose I just take off my socks, touch the middle screw of an electrical outlet cover, and it should be safe
No, just recently the servers have been strangely bad with the ping. Just last week I was getting 30-40 ping and now I get lag spikes of up to 200 ping and then the server disconnects. Tried playing three matches today - 2 in the afternoon and 1 about an hour ago. The second and third match I got disconnected and it earned me a ban. It’s been brought up in the Tech Support forum.
The first step that you would need to do is log in to the modem/router to see what has been added, if anything. If nothing’s changed and everything looks normal then it would be time to look at the wireless bands. I’m assuming you’re on a wifi provider. So you most likely have 4G LTE and 5G of course. 3G is largely used for emergency response now. 4G LTE is not used as much anymore. It’s the slower of the 2 but it’s stable and travels further, typically. 5G is fast as hell but it’s prone to interference at times. Oversaturation is an issue with that band, so is trees, solid objects, ect. So you’re saying that it’s a new thing, that really narrows it down. It’s either an issue with the server, an issue with oversaturation, or an issue with the ISP.
Start by checking your devices and seeing what’s using what, things that need stability IE gaming can go on the other band. Things that need raw horsepower IE video stuff can go on the other. Yes sorting out the network can smoothen things out.
In terms of the Chicago server I haven’t had issues. Keep in mind that I’m visiting it from way out in the southwest but my friends are Midwest. It’s the happy medium server. If I drag them to LAX we can expect lag spikes that can shoot up to 700ms, often forcing disconnects. I have friends that live closer to the server that have issues whereas I don’t. There’s a lot to take into account as companies like Verizon and at&t have been having issues all over the place.
I’d start with looking at the network, see what’s using what, then I’d run a few internet tests, if that looks normal then it’s not your ISP. At that point it’s important to just breathe deep and do what the rest of us do, blame the game! Networks are complex. Test another game to see if you get the same result. If you can’t, it’s the game. Now keep calm, blame the game, stop being afraid of static, and install the ram. Seriously it’s been like 3 months. ![]()
how do you even see what server your on heh
By looking at the traffic on my PC and seeing where it’s going. I’ve never been able to find it in game.
i just know im probably on the chicago server since near chicago. dont know what the server is called
im always 40-50 ms but sometimes 50-55 ms
Chicago is ORD1 20something characters
ahh ok. i usually hover around 40-56 ms. if its a bad server yea i get 90ms but its really rare or if something is going wrong. if i get into the 100s and above than my brother is downloading something lol
im on ord1 and doing just fine. 30ms is my max.
ctrl-shift-n and top left will tell you the server name.
on console idk if its possible though, probably somehow.
When you are an OW player, you have to always be ready to have high ping for no reason and fps drop for no reason.
I thought they retired that ages ago. Thanks for letting me know.
Is anyone else actively using your internet (router) at same time?
Trade houses with me.
