6v6 Classic showed me that 6v6 concept is special, it just feels right where it belongs.
However, there has to be an adjustment to supports, so they wouldn’t be frustrating to deal with and could manage healing 2 (instead of 1) tank, not overheal dmg and other support. In other words, it should be balanced and regulated.
As for the tanks, the idea is to divide tanks into to sub categories:
- Main tank like Reinhardt, Rammatra, Sig, Orisa, Zarya, Hog
- Support tanks like Ball, Doom, Winston, DVA, JQ, Mauga
I’m not sure how it would reflect on Queue times, but this could potentially eliminate double shields meta issue that people complained about. Nevertheless it’s worth testing in my opinion. (I’d like to discuss Q times in another post)
BUT 6v6 should be here 100%.

They’re already way ahead of you. The 6v6 test is next season with its own balance adjustments.

I highly doubt they would split the tanks into roles specifically because it would increase queue times, as well as stopping certain combinations. With the ones you chose, it would make the most popular rein Zarya not be possible.
Splitting the tank role into different queues would be a terribly catastrophic decision!
Unless you mean a soft sub-role lock where you can’t play 2 of the same sub-role. I don’t really like this idea.
Better to just rework/nerf the problematic tanks that were run in Double Shield, which they already did with Orisa in 5v5 (retroactive solution to Double Shield).
Focus on Bap and Brig, as well.
The team is aware of the past issues, and have said they are testing with that in mind. I actually think they can handle 6v6. 5v5 was just unmanageable from the start.

I know that team is aware of the past problems, but the reasons they didn’t provide a solution is because there’s none, they can’t rework/nerf good enough to create balance, new problems would arise, but you’ve mentioned Soft lock and it is a pretty clever solution.
