6v6 restores fun, 5v5 is a tryhard sweaty chore

Every single time able to play 6v6 whilst the modes last, it is a reminder of how much fun the original format was. Yes, DoubleShield was an annoying meta, though even then it is FAR more fun than ANYTHING with now standard 5v5.

5v5 has come to feel increasingly unplayable, just aggravating, the opposite of what playing a game should be - whereas I enthusiastically want to play 6v6, which means more likelyhood of microtransactions - which seems to take priority over addressable toxicity and lazy attempts to punish people for leaving NON-COMP matches for xyz reasons, etc.

Cheers

I get that you prefer 6v6 mate but using “tryhard” as an insult to diminish 5v5 does not work. Trying hard to win becoming an insult is one of the most insane things people throw out there.

Calling a competitive mode “sweaty” is kinda weird, ngl.

IMO both modes should coexist coz we all have preferable modes. The problem is how to shorten the queue time under this situation.

Aye, that’s a fair and appreciate critique. Part of wording is, of course, a part of natural cycle of board flaming as an outlet from prolonged irritation with no immediate solution.
More articulately then - especially and perhaps with a bias as primarily Support - being a busy person and the more with age, I feel increasingly disparaged from playing 5v5 anything when the lack of a 6th makes even QuickPlay far more stressful than what seems reasonable for QuickPlay, as opposed to what should be expected in Comp.

There might be confusion? Any 5v5 feels like how Comp 6v6 felt, regardless if QuickPlay, due to the lack of a 6th, though never was attempt to separate Comp from sweaty - as they naturally synergize.

Right so, it has been admitted that the move to 5v5 was primarily an attempt to reduce queue times, despite years of gaslighting otherwise. It remains a problem when splitting the player pool, aye.

Arguably, it would seem the overall best course to 1) return to 6v6 and have an reacclimating period, though unlikely for sunken cost fallacy reasoning, 2) maintain both as you mentioned along with the potential queue time increase, or 3) any number of solutions not of mind at moment.

On whole, it seems a problem of painting themselves into a corner in pursuit of quick fixes, and this microcosm is a part of the result =/

We JUST HAD an Overwatch Classic event proving that wrong!

5v5 is playable, this non role queue garbage has no place in the game anymore. You have even less autonomy because you’re guaranteed to get teams that refuse to switch off functionally unplayable team compositions.

Tbf to them. Refering to someone as a “try hard” has always been a derogatory term. Long before gaming.

“someone who is perceived as putting in excessive effort or appearing overly enthusiastic, often to an extent that seems insincere or out of place, especially in a competitive or social setting.”

No we didn’t. We had goats meta.

Double shield came later. And it was bad because of how long it stuck around, not because you couldn’t occasionally play round it.

But its used to a person, not to a mode.

If the mode is more “tryhard” that means people try to win there more or are more competitive really … which again is not an insult really.

Basically we come to the same conclusion: Some people don’t like the game is faster and less forgiving in 5v5. Pretty much thats it.

Yes. They are describing people.

I’m not saying I agree with them. Just that it has been used correctly.

I’m not sure anyone with a brain will disagree with that. Not everything can be for everyone.

I never said it was used incorrectly, I said that using that “insult” to DIMINISH 5v5 (as opposed to 6v6 “fun”) does not work. And that is 100% true.

Its like saying : Winston is fun, Orisa is just too Tanky.

Like what?
Fun is subjective and trying hard to win is fun for most of those “tryhards”, so it really doesnt diminish the mode (which is the point of using the word). Even OP acknowledged that mate.

Honestly. The current 6v6 mode is more fun. It is not better, it’s just more fun. Less toxic and more relaxed.

… well thats just … like, your opinion man :man_shrugging:

I dont think any of them come even close to MH but then again, fun is subjective like I said.

Almost like more chaos and less balance means less pressure and more fun…

You don’t disagree with them. You just don’t like the execution of their point.

Again:

I do disagree.
5v5 is better than 6v6 and more fun. The wording is something I don’t like too, yes.

You don’t disagree. You just wanted to argue.

You prefer the option that is more fun. They prefer the option that is more fun too.

No need to argue about it.

No.
You don’t get to tell me what I think mate. I do disagree. Period.

I don’t prefer 5v5 because its more “fun” (again for the 4th time, its subjective, not a valid point). There are many reasons why and they have been discussed a gazillion times.

Its a discussion forum and I am free to point out when a wording like that does not have the impact for the reasons listed.

You on the other hand seem to be the one just replying for the sake of replying. Whats your point bud?

You literally stated above that you prefer the mode you find more fun. Which is also what they said.

Agreement.

Rather than this toxic mentality.

Dude. Stop.

First you pretend I said they used the expression incorrectly - Refuted.
Then you claim I don’t disagree with them - Refuted, I do.
After that, you pretend I am using “fun” as the reason for my choice - Refuted again.
Now you call me toxic when you are making things up about me or my thoughts ?

What are you doing?
Stop.
