60fps and better graphics for Switch

With the release of the Switch Oled, I think its time that online games start treating the Switch as an actual console, instead of an afterthought. With the Switch Oled having 60fps compatibility and increased base storage, you should implement an option where players can turn on 60fps for a smoother experience and increase the graphics, so that the characters don’t look so incredibly bad all the time.

I’ve always wanted 60fps for the Switch :ok_hand:

The switch is nowhere powerful enough for this to happen.

Switch oled is same as base switch, it just has a better stand, and screen. Graphical power is identical

May not happen if there isnt enough demand on switch to justify the development costs

It’s literally impossible, no matter the development resources. The switch uses a mobile chipset that’s a few generations old at this point. The OLED switch uses the same set.

Just because Nintendo threw in a fancier screen doesn’t mean the system itself is any better. It’s still built on 2015 Tegra(mobile) tech. Nintendo has a terrible time optimizing their own games on the system to run at 60 FPS consistently, and you want Blizzard to make OW run at 60FPS with improved graphics on the same base hardware that struggles to run it, currently, at 30?

No amount of OLED fancy screen trickery is going to make games run better since they made zero changes to the internals except for adding slightly more internal storage. That brighter, more vivid screen will make it even more apparent just how poorly many of these games run, especially the ones that don’t use anti-aliasing, or ones that downsample resolution to 540p or below. They’ll still look and play like crap – just sharper, more vivid crap.

The Switch can perfectly handle Overwatch at 60fps, but they have it limited to 30…

How do you figure?

I think comments didn’t realize this was 99% a bait so

Mario kart 8? , Splatoon 2? , Arms? , and more online games… the game could run perfectly at 60 fps if they gave the option .

And how do you figure those games compare with Overwatch in terms of hardware demands?

The switch being capable of outputting 60 FPS doesn’t mean it’s capable of producing them.

Yeah but those games are made by Nintendo and are specifically designed for the Nintendo Switch so of course it can run well but for Overwatch it wasn’t originally designed for that since that game came out a year before the Nintendo Switch.

that doesnt mean ow can run 60, different games

Part of the reason I never bought a Switch is because I could smell that in a few years Nintendo would do the classic hey here’s the better version!
Just like what they do with literally each one of their consoles.
So hopefully in a near future, that 60 FPS OW in the Switch would no longer be a dream for you.
That being said, I’d rather get a decent PC. It opens up so much more possibilites if you’re willing to pay for it.
Nintendo has their own crazy good games like Zelda and Metroid, but that’s basically it. Their IP’s. I could wait for a better console to play their IP’s.

Also Valve Steam Deck lookin’ fresh.

Aren’t the previous switches 60 fps when they are in the dock?

Still sticking with my Q1 2022 Steam Deck.

I was being honest -_-

You do know what hardware is right? You can’t just whip performance from thin air. The switch is a glorified smart phone and not even a particularly good one at that. It’s using a custom chip that NVIDIA stopped releasing in 2011, the devs are bound by the hardware.

Stop blaming the developers for Nintendo cheaping out on hardware, just like they’ve been doing since the WII.

Oh so you just read whatever marketing non-sense companies throw out and use it as gospel, ok.

Here’s a little something for you, the base switch is 60fps compatible. All hardware is 60fps compatible if the software they are running isn’t demanding enough. The more stuff that is going on, the more powerful hardware you need to run that game.

You really think that Blizzard can get OW to run at 60 fps WITH improved graphics with 19 million visual FX and abilities and ultimates going off at any one time when gamefreak can’t even get the online aspect of pokemon which has like 3 trees in the whole map to run at better than 15fps? You’re dreaming my friend.

Good luck with that. It is like asking to make the game run on phones.
I don’t even know how they will even handle OW2 on switch with that underpowered hardware.
