5v5 caused more issues than 6v6

Biggest disadvantage of 5v5: Off-Tanks are out of work these days. Poor Roadhog, we will miss your crazy flanking and hook pulls. :headstone:

Dunno if this is a problem or if it’s an opinion about balance.

Base gameplay design

Balance can be balanced.

Or fixed Hog depending on who you ask.

Been in the game with varying effectiveness since 2016.

The subrole that’s been in the game since 2016?

Power crept since 2018.

I too can list ‘problems’ without having to explain myself: GOATS, Brigitte, CC, Stun, double shield, Orisa, Ana, Moira, range falloff, hero limits, role queue, Sym 2.0, Hog Hook, dive, 2cp, triple tank, pirate ship.

They are not going to admit how bad 5v5 is. Never heard the community and not going to start now.

Bring back 6V6 just would admit for them how bad they are at their job. So not going to happen.

Even the matchmaking was waaaaaaaaaaaay better in OW1. But well, we just have to wait until Neon Prime from Valve release and the forget OverWatch.

People did play tank back in OW1, just not as much as DPS. It’s okay for some roles to be less popular. Only issue is that due to role queue, it created issue with queue times. I’m not blaming role queue either, it’s just this unsolvable problem that OW team ended up facing eventually.

Problems that where solved each one at its own time without removing a player

1 tank more valuable than a single dps or support is not balanced. We needed to have only one tank on each team.

there’s this thing called role-less queue where I play almost all of my matches, because I despise 222/122

in 6v6 role-less queue mode mode, I almost always had at least one tank

I quoted what was stated

again, it was opinion stated as if it were a fact, when it was and is not fact

the part I did not quote does not make it fact

There was and is no pretending on my part

what I quoted provided what was stated, which was an opinion stated as if it were fact when it was not fact

in role-less queue, one can indeed create a match without a tank

it doesnt happen very often, but yes, a match can be created without a tank

the statement I replied to indicted there were no players who wished to play a tank

but there were

can’t?

actually, yes, I can

the need to rework a character doesnt exist for any character

not a single one of them

one need not be a developer to see this

there is need, and there is want

there are players (and developers) who want to make such changes, even though they have almost always been a disaster for the affected character
but wants and needs are two different things

not at all

it is a statement of fact stated as fact

no such thing was proven, nor was it ever a requirement to nerf shields

so no, I am not wrong here

6v6 - the mode in place when the game was winning many awards, including but not limited to Game of the Year, was never trash

the 5v5 pay to win game we have now isnt trash either, but it is imo much closer to being trash than 6v6 ever was

Open-queue is not the primary mode of the game. So it’s completely irrelevant. Might as well point out people playing tank in Deathmatch.

Also yes, you hating 2-2-2/1-2-2 kind of proves my point. You don’t want to be forced into a role you don’t want to play.

actually, no, it isnt irrelevant at all, given that it is sufficiently popular that the mode was brought back after a 6 month-ish hiatus because of the high demand

many players, myself included, prefer role-less queue greatly over the excessive wait times, absence of flex play, unnecessary restrictions, and other serious problems that 222/122 adds to the game

Gee, why is there extensive wait times?!

because of the bottlenecks that 222/122 creates

bottlenecks that do not occur in role-less queue mode

Maybe you’re in Oceana or something, but I get a game in under a minute in role-queue regardless of what role I queue for.

In OW1, however, Tank was instant while DPS was like 6 minutes.

such bottlenecks dont occur in role-less queue mode

that said, I understand that some players do seem to prefer excessive queue times, absence of flex play, and excessive restrictions
which is why I dont ask for 222/122 to be removed, for their sake

Again, role queue in OW2 is rather quick (at least in N/A). So I dunno what bottlenecks you’re referring to. Role queue was more of an issue in OW1.

its funny cause when people say they hated 6v6 they’re basically saying they hated the game until 2 came out. which is interesting

except it isnt in my experience, and many others have many times indicated that they continue to experience excessive wait times in 122, sometimes even worse than what was experienced in 222; and generally for more than 1 role, while 222 only had excessive wait times for 1 role.

as such, 122 seems to have a bigger problem with excessive wait times than 222 did

and this is in addition to the absence of flexing and unnecessary restrictions that are true for both 122 and 222

Might be a problem with your region then. Either that, or you don’t play role-queue enough to know that it’s quick most of the time.

I play in the US eastern time zone. Excessive wait times with 122 remain a huge problem here, and were almost always a problem in 222 as well

I check 122 (and previously checked 222) plenty of times to know what the waits were like, even with bribes available; and with that said, plenty of other players have spoken to excessive queue times all over the world with 122

I feel like you’re exaggerating. We don’t even see complaints about queue times on this forums, and people here don’t hesitate to complain about things here. People complained about queue times in OW1.
