To be fair “Group Value” isn’t really true if it has no value to you. I could sell you a car for $10 on the condition you take this 2 tons of toxic waste with you…
You wouldn’t say that the car is a deal at $10 if you now had to pay millions to dispose of the waste.
It is also not unreasonable to have each pulled apart to individual games and priced accordingly as well as having it bundled, because i am not an idiot i am not gonna buy it for just 1 game. The could of even priced it where it was cheaper buying the bundle if you want everything and reasonably priced if you want one games items.
Apparently they want to pretend to be the cable company where everything is bundled, and Disney where it is egregiously overpriced for what is offered.
It’s will be free later if you read about it.
So yeah, some people will buy it and that’s their choice and some people will wait and that’s their choice.

Imagine if I sold you a 20$ apple that you really wanted and thought was fair for the price, BUT I will only sell you that apple if you also pay 80$ for two tons of literal trash. Normally companies research how much garbage they can tack on without receiving backlash for it. (Every single cable, streaming service, game pass service, a bunch of others are good examples.) But considering the backlash blizzard is getting for this, they just didn’t.
Blizzard got exactly this kind of backlash last year, too. It would seem that they benefit more from packaging it this way than they suffer from people freaking out on the forums / not buying the package.
Like or dislike the strategy as you please, but they definitely knew what they were getting into by doing it again.
You are being very unfair here. You are playing on one side of the fence while refusing to see the other side.
The complaint is that , lots of players only play 1-2 blizzard games max and do not care about the bundle garbage along with garbage lootboxes. Heck, I myself cant even use the lootboxes because I own everything in the game. So that is basically just what, some worthless gold?
People want the skin, or just the bike, or some other item for their game. Not all of it. But in order to get what you want, you have to buy the entire bundle.
Argue all you want about “its not just one item in the bundle”, but the fact is, they know that a lot of players dont want the bundle and only 1-2 things in the bundle.
I assume you yourself must be some hardcore blizzard game player and you play all of their games. But for some of us, we play 1-2 games and see the skin or another game’s mount as a $40 skin or mount. We get 0 value from the rest of the stuff in the bundle.
I see the other side easily. And yeah, being able to buy the stuff separately would be nice. … it’s probably not going to happen but it’d be nice.
I’m going to assume you’re putting this for clarification. I’m aware of the situation… yes.
Yes, but they also know a lot of blizzard fans either play multiple games or MIGHT if they had a reason to. So while you can throw around “a lot” , so can people who own several games. Which has more people? who knows? Apparently the group of people willing to buy the blizzcon packages is large enough that they’ve just been doing this since forever.
I played WoW for 6 years after it launched and then moved on. I played SC and SCII for the stories and moved on (never really got into comp). I played DIII only (never played 1 or 2) because my friends wanted to. Hearthstone is free but I don’t play. I played HoTS for the genji and DVA skins only. But it’s also free.
I play lots of games. I am a gamer.
I also currently play: FFXIV, Satisfactory, AION, ghost recon breakpoint, Void Terrarium, Minecraft, Black Desert Online, PSO2, Monster Hunter World.
And that’s only what I play regularly. I occasionally pick up any number of random games I own and I play games on my phone and my DS. I played Destiny 2, I played Anthem, I played The Division.
My perspective on 1 skin being available for 1 game is pretty detached. Making one game your LIFE is pretty … limiting.
Yup. However this does not mean the rest of the items have no value when considered as a whole. So saying the skin costs 40 dollars is untrue.
I probably wouldn’t even have touched any of these topics if people didn’t fluff with the misinformation. Heck I’d probably throw in my support if someone started a request for the OW stuff to be in it’s own sub-package without starting it with “BLAH BLAH SCAM!” “BLAH BLAH 40 DOLLAR SKIN”!
You know what I want to know? Once the “console” package comes out… how is it going to be kept from just being applied to a PC blizzard account? Will the codes only work for console copies?
Can we start a thread asking for that package to be made for single franchise PC players? Would be nice! I can support that as long as it’s based on wants and good logic instead of trying to create a moral outrage.
Probably not. I challenge you to start that thread and NOT have people start acting like we’re owed the chance or the option.
The position currently is that Blizzard KNOWS this thing will sell. They have years and years showing it’s profitable. The ecosystem of games supports what they’re doing as well. People accept paying for stuff for their games pretty much forever.
I personally feel that they’d sell “More” if they allowed targeted purchases, but have only heard this argument maybe twice. Most of the time it gets buried under outrage and misinformation.
Making Reinhardt turn into Jim Raynor is comically unfitting.
Jim Raynor is way more of a McCree, if anything McCree should have gotten a Raynor skin… such a wasted opportunity.
If they want my attention, they should make Tassadar Sigma! En Taro Adun!
If you think it will be free at some point later on then you are the one who need to read about it.
No Blizzcon skin was made available at a later date except the Demon Hunter Sombra, but in that case, the item had the description of being available later.
So if you are missing out on this, i just hope, that its not that big of a deal to you if you never get the skin.
That being said, i hope that you are right and at some point Blizzard grants us a chance to get old exclusive stuff again, cuz I missed out on blizzcon Bastion/ Winston and the Noire Widow. (I have every single exclusive except those)
But knowing Blizzards history about stuff like this, its highly unlikely.
