I really enjoyed playing 321 as a main tank. My healers are not over stressed, and i’m less inclined to play passively since I know I can get healed easy but it does put alot of pressure on not dying since you are the only tank. Being the only tank makes it so that if you die, your team dies as well.
A bad note, I’ve noticed that Hog feels a bit week compared to the other tanks. I would recommend either giving him a new ability to help his team or increase his health pool. He is the only tank on his team and killing him doesn’t feel any different from before.
Also, if 3-2-1 touaght me anything is that DPS suck at the low plat and below levels. There are 3 of you on a team and you can’t kill a phara? theres a problem there.
I’ve made a new post about this subject. I actually played 12 hours of this mode and got a deeper feeling of how it badly affects the game. I spend more hours on support, dps, and tank. Click here to join
Which tank/s are you playing, and what DPS are the enemy team picking?
Because in my experience, unless you’re playing Rein you’re having a pretty bad time. Sigma feels absolutely shocking since his buff was so small and he was already pretty awful to begin with, and Orisa and Hammond don’t feel much better.
I really want the games of the tanks who are enjoying this mode, the only tank i can enjoy is Zarya, with every other tank i’m eating CC like no tomorrow and get melted anyways with Hanzo and Widow. With Hog i just feel like an ult battery for the other team unless i start to flank and forget about any tanking.
It’s good only for Rein, and that up until someone from the enemy team changes to Mei/Sombra. Rest of the tanks feel so awful while Sigma and Hog are totally useless.
I can play all tanks very well. But I prefer Main tanks, esp Rein. Rein can’t do much to a phara in the sky. That’s something the 3 dps should take care of. Other then that, it was fun to play it. Played 321 all day
I’ve been having real frustration with comps like sniper/sniper/Sombra or sniper/sniper/Mei because against that every tank in the game becomes a throw pick because you’re either getting permahacked/permafrozen around your barrier or your team is getting picked apart by snipers because you cannot dive them both at once any more
Not really, Winston is a beast in this mode too. Its like trying to kill an endless pool of health and he can get away in 4 sec. And have you even tried Orisa? She is almost the best tank in the 321 card and this is coming from a Rein main. The only one that I think needs work is Sigma, he feels like an off tank solo tanking still.
I have mixed feelings about 1-3-2. I find both good and bad things about it.
I feel like I can have more impact as tank, and I usually get more heals than in 2-2-2.
I like that theoretically with this system there could be better balance changes for tanks, as synergies like double barrier wouldnt have to be taken into account. So theoretically it could be possible to make all tanks viable.
Some tanks need more buffs, esp Sigma and Hog, but this is the case on live too.
Tank Q times have increased significantly. It is now the longest Q, 3-4 mins. Even dmg now has lootbox reward sometimes. Support seems to have insta Qs now.
Did you pay attention to the patch notes? His new passive attached to Take A Breather - on top of the personal damage reduction he already gets - grants both 25hps and 25% damage mitigation for everyone in the area of effect (which is about the same size as a biotic field). That’s the utility he has now, and - if he has one or both healers focused on him at the same time - he can basically face-tank almost any non-Ultimate / boosted damage for 30 seconds or more, as well as providing healing / damage negation for nearby team-mates. His hook cooldown is also 25% faster than before (was 8secs, now 6 secs).
The trade-off is that his damage has been nerfed a fair bit (max 125 damage from a bodyshot at point-blank range, down from 150). Old damage + AoE heals + shorter-cooldown hook would be horrendously OP.
Regardless, the presence of Hog actually has a negative effect in that it’s very easy - in brawl-oriented games - for Hog to outheal one or both of his Supports, which can make them feel like they’re not contributing much to the outcome of the match.
I completely disagree with the OP, as 3/2/1 is absolutely terrible from every aspect if you’re playing Tank and just a tad bit better if you’re playing Support…
Hope this change doesn’t go through and it thankfully won’t, as long as devs act logically and realize that it’s not worth it ruining the experience of so many Tank and even Support players (as if they already weren’t in a bad enough state already) and sacrificing the arguably great overall state Overwatch has been at for the past weeks for the sake of catering to the same old DPS players, due to the behaviors of many of which, systems such as role - lock had to be implemented in the first place so many months ago…
