And CS2 did so by basically stealing OW2’s playbook knowing people would give it free pass when Valve does it.
Please keep in mind, that many players like me never connected their blizz account to steam account. There is a chance, that a large chunk of active players didn’t bother with it as well, just so they can post negative review.
Steam charts don’t take those into account.
i have 5 battlenet acounts conected to steam, and all those acounts to a single email, with so many layers verification . you whould drown in it, been investing 50,- or more on euch, every single season for rainy day. a chinese hacker got my email once, 2 hours later the poor peep was locked out, never got a log in atemt sich, you know hotmail aliases? you need a gmail to log into my hotmail, but that gmail i cant even aces. its a one never used, so no site can know about it. its caled a alias. if it gets login atemts il just nuke it and make a new one, reinstal pc, no sweat, let the chinese come, i stone them to dead. just like i did with my modem, alto that was mistake… geting new one in 2 days. on nabour why fi now;)

You are comparing the #1 best drain wallet Valve game theres is since 2012 (CS2 is just CS:GO update), apart from Dota/TF2, to a Blizzard first P2P then F2P game.

And that game hasn’t received any major update since 2016!
I do wonder what % of OW’s population plays it via steam…and where it would e been if it had released there initially

CS2 did not change the monetization, did not removed more than it added (if it removed anything at all), it was never marketed as something it wasn´t. it brougth actual Innovation for the game (Subtick-Servers, new Smoke physics, better graphics etc) etc.
OW2 is just a cheap chash grab and brought no improvement for the game (and the players in particular).
Valve does not get a free pass. Valve never lied and delivered what they said and didn’t rip off the players unlike Blizzard
You do realize that Steam numbers are a drop in the ocean, right? The vast majority of OW playerbase did not switch launchers and still use Bnet. And that’s just the PC players, not counting the console portion of the playerbase.
We don´t know that. Steam could be the majority of the players but since we don´t have any data from other platforms we don´t know the distribution.
No one knows for sure, but I’m willing to bet that it’s less than 1%. It doesn’t take into account console players or most existing PC players. I don’t personally know anyone who accesses it through steam and I’ve only seen a handful of people on the forums or Reddit say that they do.
Surely the most hated game on Steam has a lot of players anywhere else xDDDDD
Don’t forget that Valve never punish anyone for using voice chat & text chat (except F2P in TF2 not able to use those features as a result of bot problem) unlike OW2 where you can get suspended / silenced just because you defended yourself against toxic player (and said toxic player abuses the report system).
It kinda baffles me how someone could look at that number, and genuinely think to themselves; “Yup, that sure looks like a dead game to me”.
Say what you want about OW but if I were the devs and people were comparing my game to something like CS:GO I honestly wouldn’t gaf.

For a game that is supposed to be in the same league as fortnite, apex etc, those numbers are pretty pathetic.
It barely has twice as many players as Paladins on PC. That is sad.
