1080p with 75% or 50% render-scale means 810p or 540p - those settings are quite low so no surprise that you didn’t like them. 1440p 75% is better and the blur is less noticeable. I uploaded a few 1440p screenshots using 75% and 100% render-scale.
All of my monitors are hi-res (2K, 4K, 5K) because I like clarity. I don’t even have a 1080p display because it’s too low-res for text IMO. Blur obviously isn’t good but 1440p 75% is not half bad when a significant reduction in GPU requirements is needed.
LOL yeah go ahead and tell that to someone who is half blind atm and has no problem reading it…
U literally chose the wrong person to say that to I have astigmatism and really bad double vision and currently I have no glasses and have 1 eye closed (get my glasses on Tuesday) and I legitimately have no issue reading the text with double vision.
I never claimed that it’s impossible to read text on 1080p. It just doesn’t look as sharp on 1080p especially with smaller font sizes. On lower resolution displays text is more blurry because the font renderer has to apply anti-aliasing (or other tricks like the ClearType technology of Windows) to a high percentage of pixels that make up a rendered text.
I mean obviously that’s your opinion but I have used a 1080p 27" monitor for years and have never had an issue with reading text or it looking low-res or blurry.
I have good eyesight and my favourite desktop font size looks much sharper on 1440p than on 1080p. 4K or higher doesn’t improve it significantly. I read a lot so getting the right tool for the job is good investment.
4K or higher resolution is useful for desktop applications with multiple tool windows. Using one large display is more comfortable than a multi-monitor setup.
I feel this is true tbh, I have both a 144hz and 240 and it’s barely any difference so when people sit bragging about their 390hz monitors I’m just like… ok bruh
240 is still objectively better than 144 and therefore you will get that benefit. Of course there is such a thing as diminishing returns and whether you notice or not. Just like I don’t notice Moira’s 20 → 24hps self healing buff, but it’s still there. Here’s a video with Linus trying to see how much benefit there really is.
For a few yes, but its demonstrable that most players will not see a serious difference in accuracy, maybe a couple percent.
The comparison here was 1080p at 240hz vs 1440p at 144.
If you did it and are happy, you made the right choice for you. I have a 144hz 17" game laptop, and a 120hz ultrawide, but am thinking of investing in a 240hz 1080p 25" to use externally to the laptop. Maybe.
Why did you want to choose between 1440p and 240Hz instead of having both? Now that you have both which one would you pick if you could have only one of them?
Hah thats a tricky one!!
Probably the 1440 one , but thats like 60% for the s1440p and 40% for the 240 hz.
60% because aside the sharpness it also has HDR , and that looks amazing!
Also , i wanted to choose between the two because of the prices really…
