2080ti rendering device lost

i have a 2080ti in my system and usually wile playing competitive i have been sent a “rendering device lost” error code toward the end of a match, this is heartbreaking to me and so many members of this community, ive read all the forum posts with no avail, now im on an 8 hour suspension because of hardware that should be more than capable of running this. i am willing to do anything to fix this problem at this point. temps on gpu at 63 Celsius current drivers and a fresh install of graphics drivers and install of game. i see a lot of people in these forums having the same problem with these cards with no real solutions

It’s a long (but good) read, but one of the methods in this thread might work for you.

Solutions range from:

  • Turning off overclocking (OCing isn’t supported by Blizz games)
  • Increasing the delay allowed for the GPU to respond to the game (from 2 seconds to 10 seconds)
  • Renaming the Overwatch.exe file.
  • Making configuration setting changes in the nVidia Control Panel.

… and many others. Take a look and hopefully something will help.

i was blocked for some reason so i made a new account but ive tried these things idk if this will help but its the diagnostic from dxdiag

All I can tell from this report is that your video card is taking too long to respond to game, so it crashes. Blizzard staff has asked that anyone with these cards post in the thread I mentioned above, so they can keep all information and troubleshooting consolidated to one place.

Blizzard isn’t really asking for people to post their DXDiag in that thread. They have asked people to mail it but they no longer need said information as they have a vague idea of what is causing the issue. And right now, they are working with NVidia to try and resolve the issue.

The OP should first try renaming Overwatch.exe into something like OverwatchTest. If that doesn’t work, Blizzard actually advised to create a new thread to get to the bottom of what is then a different issue causing the same generic error code.

I have the exact same issues.
Specs: Ryzen 7 2700x and RTX 2080.
Other Games never crash, at all.

Try renaming Overwatch.exe to something like OverwatchTest.exe. If this works for you, you will have to rename the executable every new patch. What renaming does is bypass NVidia’s profile for Overwatch. For some of us this has worked and we have had no crashes ever since.
