Troubleshooting steps

TROUBLESHOOTING WITH EARNING OWL TOKENS

IMPORTANT The season has now ended, and this troubleshooting guide is no longer effective to resolve any lost token drops or bonus rewards. A new guide will be posted for the 2021 season once details are posted.

Perform the following steps in order to see if you can correct any possible errors. Try testing when you complete one more or of these steps. Remember to document how many tokens between matches you have by checking the balance directly in the Overwatch Game Client.

  1. Please verify that you are eligible to earn OWL token drops. Only users from certain eligible countries can earn OWL token drops. Please note any non-Overwatch League drop is not restricted by country.
  1. If you are using Youtube.com or the Youtube mobile app, please switch to the OverwatchLeague.com or the Overwatch League mobile app.
  2. Verify that you are signed in to your Blizzard BattleNet account on OverwatchLeague.com or the Overwatch Leauge Mobile App.
  3. Check on your Blizzard Account Connections Page to see if you have all three permissions enabled for the Overwatch League page. If any are missing, revoke the access, then return to OverwatchLeague.com and sign back in, and grant all three permissions.

  1. If you are a console player, verify that your BattleNet account is linked with your Console Account.
  2. Try clearing out your web browser cookies or other cache files (remember to sign back into OverwatchLeague.com on the web browser).
  3. If you use any Ad blocking pluggins or software, please disable it entirely for the duration of the broadcast (don’t just provide an exemption to the site).
  4. Make sure that OverwatchLeague.com is not muted in Google Chrome. Open a tab and navigate to OverwatchLeague.com , then right click the tab of the site on the title bar of the window, in the pop-up menu, if it says “Unmute Site” click it to unmute the site.
  5. Make sure that OverwatchLeague.com is not blocked for notifications in Google Chrome. (Check Settings > Content > Notifications).
  6. Try watching the stream on a different web browser. The most recommended option is Google Chrome. Firefox is reported to work I am currently investigating issues with the older version of Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Internet Explorer (this is a legacy web browser recommended for viewing out-of-date websites) will not work. Other web browsers, including Opera, Apple Safari, and the new Microsoft Edge, are currently untested. (Desktop Microsoft Edge is only available for Windows 10 systems. Apple Safari is only available for MacOS systems.)
  7. If watching on a smart device (phone or tablet), try switching to a different device (preferably a computer with a web browser).
  8. If watching on Google Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, or any other TV casting device, turn off that casting and watch directly from your smart device or computer. Casting devices will NOT work with earning tokens.

If nothing here works and…

…you are still having issues with earning OWL tokens. Please post details about how you are watching the Overwatch League stream, and be sure to include:

  • Your hardware platform (Personal Computer, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Android Device, Apple Device, etc.)
  • Your platform’s Operating System or firmware version (Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, MacOS 10.13 High Sierra, Xbox One version 10.0.16299.5101, PlayStation 4 version 5.53, Android Oreo 8.1, iOS 11, etc.)
  • Your App or Web Browser and current version (Overwatch League App on Android, Google Chrome 65.0.3325.181, etc)
  • Your Country of Residence (USA, Canada, Great Britain, Etc.)
  • A VERY DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF STEPS YOU HAVE TRIED

Hey everyone! Because the Overwatch League schedule has not been getting posted with enough advance notice, I have stopped trying to repost the schedule here. You can find the Overwatch League schedule listed in your local time zone if you visit their official schedule page on OverwatchLeague.com, there you can also find match scores and the YouTube VODs for all past matches as well. Thank you for your understanding!

Thank you for this post, very helpful.

With no rewards for watching, I doubt it will have high numbers.
Maybe now we are gonna see the true numbers of the loyal viewers who are gonna move with the platform change.
It really is “make it or break it” as they said.

As I noted in the starting post… “There are no streaming rewards at this time.” It sounds like they are working on it based on the Tweet from the Overwatch League Commissioner, but this will take time to get set up and running.

I think it’s really bad move of them, prematurely moving to another platform right before the season starts without preparing everything for smooth move.

Yeah I do agree with that. Especially with a skin like the GOAT Brig skin which can only be purchased for a limited time. I am lucky that I still have enough Tokens from last season to get it.

This is possibly one of the worst decisions they’ve made. I know a lot of people that watched it on ESPN. And also Twitch.

Got my popcorn ready boys n girls. Have you got yours?

I’m sure there are many … ahem … free options to avoiding adverts too.

No streaming rewards atm? Alright, I’m grabbing my popcorn.

I really don’t know about that Myst.

YouTube already has a drop system and OWL had MONTHS to prepare…

It really rubs me the wrong way, makes me think they did it on purpose to get people to buy the skin etc.

Another great post :+1: thanks for the info!

Well this sucks. Imma miss the shock match…

I know they are gonna win, but still, it’s gonna suck not being able to watch it.

Thank you for posting this!
Also I’m curious as to what the numbers of viewing will be with no watching rewards vs watching rewards if they do implement it and how it will compare to their twitch numbers :face_with_monocle:
(Personally I will likely not watch)

This skin is the GOAT (pun intended)

I dont know if Premium removes commercial breaks but pop ups and ads can be removed by Adblockers.

Do you think that the Shock and Sinatraa MVP skins will have the new colors as well?

No idea. We will find out in time.

Am I reading the schedule incorrectly, or are they doing games in both Dallas and New York both days this weekend?

Do they send half the casters to Dallas, and the other half to New York or something??

Will the Command Center be available like last year, or did they do away with that?

You are reading it correctly. There are two matches per day at each site.

The command center was Twitch’s little brainchild. Do not expect it to return. You should still be able to access replays and point of views through the replay client if you own Overwatch for PC.
