I just played comp and it was so boring it ended in a draw…
The problem is game balance .So many hero in this game are blatently broken and others are useless .I thought role lock would fix the game but seems its made it worse .If your lucky enough to get a widow, genji or tracer main who is doing nothing and trash guarantee they dont switch for sure now .Im so done with this steaming pile of @##.
Agreed i played 4 games and im so done with it .Im playing apex as we speak .I thought role lock would make the game better but its god aweful now .
“if it doesn’t fix everything then it’s not worth pursuing” is a very common logical fallacy.
The only people claiming that “i was told 222 fixes everything” are anti-222.
If you have to criticize 222 at least criticize the thing that don’t work, not the things it was never supposed to fix in the first place.
Funnily enough Overwatch’s design in the setting where everyone plays as ideal as possible (i.e. pro play) will always be prone to devolve into a very strict meta with a very high chance of mirror matches. That’s just what happens when you can swap heroes indefinitely.
This design just doesn’t work for pro play… unless you want to see the same thing time after time that is. It actually works best as a casual game.
Hey Devs, I’m just chiming in to say that I’ve come back to OW because of 2-2-2 and Role Based SR. Good job.
OWL heroes being played now, or have gotten play time.
Reaper
Mei
McCree
Widow
Hanzo
Pharah
Sombra
Doomfist
Genji
DVA
Orissa
Hog
Wrecking Ball
Ana
Lucio
Mercy
Moira
Baptiste
All these Heroes have been played in OWL this stage.
Some more than others but still more diversity than goats.
Maybe a little more diversity in terms of heroes who are used on occasion? But watching the matches, every single game is still a mirror match, and it revolves around the same heroes: Hanzo, Widow, D.Va, Orisa, Doomfist, Mei, and a handful of others.
That the list is a little higher (and Sombra just got nerfed to make sure she was irrelevant again) in terms of count doesn’t change that every match is still a boring mirror match with the same exact comps and same strategies all the time. There’s no more variation to it than there was in GOATS.
And thats why the game is going down the toilet in the first place.
OWL and esports has done nothing but ruin this game.
Competetive wasn’t even added to the game until the masses wanted it.
Competitive was in the beta, it wasn’t some huge afterthought. Comp live came out only a month after the game release.
GOATS really only had two forms and it was Zen GOATS or Ana GOATS. You would see the occasional Mei for certain maps, but that was about it. We are seeing much more variation now. Sure we see Orisa mirrors, but we see either Hog or Dva in the off-tank. We see different support pairings in Ana/Zen, Ana/Bap, Ana/Mercy for more traditional bunker with Hanzo/Widow/McCree, we see Pharmercy, also see some Mei/Reaper comps with Moira/Lucio. We have even seen some Dive in the matches (although not always that sucessful). The comps are much more varied, the only thing that is static is Orisa, but that may change with the Orisa nerfs and with Sigma introduction.
We’re seeing like one hero different on each team per match. It’s really not that much more variation. It’s still mirror match. At least GOATS had a Sombra version. OWL is still homogenous as all get out. Every match it’s the same heroes on both teams, and generally from game to game. There’s a small subset of viable heroes in OWL, and both teams run them all every game.
