This is grossly misleading. Attack and defense have always been DPS characters. Splitting them up was just the devs suggesting which heroes they recommend using ok offense or defense.
I also think the reason they split the defense/offense on dps is because there were so many dps, they didnât want to (at the time) draw attention to the imbalance of how many options they keep giving dps players. And that was BEFORE role queue.
Itâd look pretty stupid to have twice as many dps options to the other roles, right? I mean, it âŚdoes look stupid or at least like poor planning. Especially when they go a year without releasing a new character and then release a dps character.
Oh, Jeff. What a kidder.
I KNOW!!! I saw Echo years back and thought she looked like the perfect computerized Shield support unit! I was so excited to see her finally come out, to become another flying type damage with zero defense and a gimmick Ultimate. If I wanted to be Roadhog I would be Roadhog; I donât want to wait for him to respawn so I can copy him with my ult and hope I can hit someone for his ult.
They broke Brig to uselessness; even if she was in need of a tweak at release, LOOK at her now! Half health, 1/3 shield⌠whatâs she supposed to do?! She has to fight <5ft range to heal! Yet she canât defend herself anymore. Sad.
Yes. Because thatâs still twice as many characters DPS players get to use. Assuming youâre playing comp with the offense/defense, tank and support players still only have 7-8 heroes to choose from, and not all of them viable. DPS have that many for each mode. Sure, not all of them are viable all the time either, but theyâre still starting with twice as many characters.
i remember the reaction with both ashe and echo, people are not happy with more dps
I love both of those characters, Iâm just disappointed theyâre really hard to play, especially Echo. Iâm one of those console peasants who canât afford a computer so I like the no-aim heroes, but it happens that my favorites (Sym, Mercy, Brig, D.Va) require little to no aim anyway. Ashe is awesome, sheâs my new go-to damage type, trying to get better.
It would be Echo but screw that airborne nonsense, Iâm so sick of not being able to jump/boost and aim at the same time. I could bind jump to L3 but only a psychopath uses the stick to jump. Thatâs also why I canât play Genji.
Nah, I think they wanted the game to play differently. Like Defense characters would be played on the Defense side and the Offensive characters would be played on the Attacking side. Generally why every mode had an attacking team and defending team and the maps also reflected this with the Defense side having stupid amounts of high ground, chokepoints and snipers nests.
Then players figured out that Offensive characters were better on both Defense and Attack so eventually they relented and put both the sides together because it honestly didnât matter anymore.
I would rework Hog into dps, rework Mei into tank and add at least one or two new supports. I stopped to play support since this nerf insanity started and almost everything except Ana is considered a throw pick lately.
Its even worse. Do you remember when they laughed at supports faces making echo another dps? It was like spiting us.
" What does her design says to you?" They asked on blizzcon. And then they made her a dps. Is it just, ridiculous i have no words for this.
its almost like at the core of the game its an fps
There is a few more characters from the DPS roster that you can work into other roles with changes.
I am not sure how much excited would players be, about recycling their favourite mains into a different roles. I picked two heroes, that already have kits fit better into another roles, but I am not much fan of drastic reworks. There is still lot of heroes in OW lore and it seems that this game has nothing new to offer, except some cosmetics here and there, so why not something new?
Well if we want to get anywhere DPS wonât have anything new for quite some time. If they donât want to share their toys and at the same time demand as much as everyone else then I donât know what to suggest.
DPS is getting all the love and spoils. They are getting buffs, while other roles get nerfed. They also got another hero, they have so much to choose from, I am sure, they can survive a year or two without new hero. They don´t really need more, while tanks and supports are in really bad state. There is nothing to choose from and even that nothing is getting nerfed with every patch. I switched from support role to dps, cause I was tired of playing the same all the time, but I would love to see a new support hero finaly.
Eh, at the rate Blizzard pumps out heroes itâs going to take more then a year or two. If they pumped out an additional hero a year it would be a little over 4 and a half years.
Also you are talking about the biggest pool of players, that means the biggest pool of customers. They get just as many whales from DPS as Supports and Tanks combined.
Echo was supposed to be a support. Also I guess that âbiggest pool of playersâ want also shorter Q time, and get healed and tanked their games. Recently many support and tank players switched to dps role, me included, cause we are fed up by this treatment.
I want 7 more dps before any new support or tank, just to see how long can be the queues
did you know both tanks and supports have guns or are you just stupid?
sombra was supposed to be a support and said support was supposed to come from hacked helthpack, hacked enemy heroes (back then hack lowered an enemy damage by a fixed %) and she had a wall that made any ally behind it invisible to the enemy.
Doomfist was supposed to be a melee tank like rein and had a move that involved throwing a rock (sounds familiar?), but they realized that having two melee main tanks meant one was always going to be âthe bestâ and overall they had trouble with the balancing because they couldnât really fit the punch all that well in the kit
Did Ana have an ARG? All I remember is waiting weeks and weeks for Sombra. I was super excited at the beginning and by the end of it I just did not care at all I was so drained. The problem with the Sombra one is everyone had already guessed pretty much everything about her, but the ARG kept acting like everyone didnât already know because the community is ridiculous at guessing and doing detective work. So youâd go in thinking Blizzard would take this into account, but instead theyâd just slowly release what we already knew. It was the definition of blue-balling. Definitely a teething issue that theyâve got better about.
Ah, I donât remember that. It wasnât something that was only revealed after they were released was it?
