There are a lot of recolors and that can’t be denied. Dokiwatch is a good example really. Orisa and Mei, although they look decent and match the theme reasonably, are simply recolors. 5900 credits for a multipack that contains multiple recolors is a pretty big deterrent for me. Whales and genre specific collectors may shrug that off or not even notice but my friends and I notice it for sure and avoid the pack entirely, maybe opting to buy an individual skin via the Hero gallery instead if we have any coin from the battlepass.
Any skin that’s a recolor should automatically be downgraded to Epic at best. Legendary skins should be unique and not shameless color swatch resprays. I’m a LW main who will never ever buy the Magistrate/Regal skins at their current price point because they’re just color pallet swaps. Harbinger skin? Sure. Lifegaurd skin? Yep. Cleric? Had to. Swan? No, it’s just gross hah, but it rightfully qualifies as legendary because it’s unique.
Anyways, I’m fine with shop purchases being the primary method of fueling active development. Does the Team always get stuff right? No, but I am thankful that they do apply balance fixes and adjustments to at least try without waiting for a new season to do it. I also like that they try to communicate some of what they’re doing or working on instead of us just sitting in the dark. I don’t even care if it looks like the team is backtracking on something or if there’s a conflicting statement. Usually that means that there’s active discussion around it internally.
I’ll take the issues this team has any day over a dev team that just creates a product then tosses cosmetics out for idle income and does nothing else for months at a time.
