15$ all star skins

Because Fortnite sells skins for around 20$ each like crazy, so there’s still much room left for Blizzard to catch up with.

I don’t play Genji or Tracer so I’m okay with it. but if this happens to Sombra imma riot :japanese_goblin:

You do realize that these skins have no actual effect on your gameplay. They are fun, and help fund the OWL. I’m sure if you could see the massive amount of money that went into putting together that production not to mention the prize pool. $15 to support the continuation of the league (plus you get a skin) isn’t a bad deal. And while I dont plan on purchasing them, I do purchase the warchest for SC2. For the low low price of $10 i can support the SC2 WCS and purchase a skin theme for my favorite race. BUT its worth mentioning I have to play the game to even unlock those skins. Here they are giving them to you immediately.

At the end of the day, skins are fun and a way for you to support the pro scene and the ongoing maintenance that is required for the ever elongating life of top tier video games. Just because a skin is only available for purchase doesn’t mean the company is a money grabber, it is simply a way for you to support your favorite game and get something in return.

Because crap like this sets a precident. If we don’t object to this, and show that as a community we don’t want to tolerate these sorts of business practices, they’ll only do it more and more. I’ve been part of games where there’s been a slippery slope into this stuff. You don’t see it coming or you just brush it off as “eh it’s not so bad” and then before you know it, the game is just another trashy AAA riddled with microtransactions, and no new player will ever want to play past their first few prestiges. I’m not buying this stuff. Doesn’t mean I can’t have objections to it.

And before you say “talking about this stuff won’t work”. Fun fact: When they first announced Overwatch, they intended to make it so if you wanted any heroes that came out after launch, you’d have to purchase them. So that means Ana, Sombra, Doomfist, Orisa, Moira, Brigitte, and Wrecking Ball, you would have had to pay for alongside the main game to be able to play. Reason they didn’t go through with it? Community outcry.

But these are cosmetics that no one is forcing you to buy. They don’t grant you any sort of advantage. You’re taking it way too seriously for something that dosen’t affect gameplay. We get skins from events that are free, and we get 2 that cost and everyone starts crying? They are League related so it would make sense for people to have to buy them.

I had 885 tokens at the end of the season after buying three skins. I don’t think I even watched half of the games. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about this $15 dollar “price tag” but, they did just give league tokens away.

“meh” is high praise to me…I think they look like garbage.

To each their own. People who are willing to spend money will. People who aren’t, won’t.

Don’t be amazed, this is just the beginning

They didn’t give to every country. My country, for example, is one of them

I don’t know why people care about skins at all. There’s absolutely no prestige in owning them. There’s nothing that can’t be obtained by everyone, regardless of playtime, skill, or anything else except golden guns. As for those, anyone who maintained rank of diamond or above for a few seasons have so many golden guns that there’s nothing special about them. They’re only special to low ranks who can’t afford them.

Actual skins though, the only sort-of rare ones were back when stuff like summer games were lootbox-only and not buyable with coins. That changed when these events had repeats and skins became buyable with coins. Nothing is rare, nothing is hard to get, nothing takes any work to achieve. Skins in overwatch are completely pointless, so idk why anyone cares. Nobody else cares what your hero looks like, and you dont see your hero except in emotes and PotG replays.

Oh, and it’s not greedy making these skins expensive. Players that love playing dressup more than the actual game will pay for them. The rest don’t care, so the cost need to be higher to maximise profits off those that do. Thanks for keeping OW free btw. The rest of us appreciate you spending your money on cosmetics to keep things free for those who don’t. That’s a positive at least.

Someone probably already said this but if you really dislike the fact that they are £15 then vote with your wallet and don’t buy them, show that selling overpriced skins is not acceptable.

If they sold the skins for £5 - £10 then I bet TONS more people would buy them including me and probably make a bigger profit but £15 is pushing it too far and a lot less people will consider buying the skins.

As OP said the pink mercy was about the same price as the all star skins, but that’s the only exception to a lot of people because the money went to a very good cause.

Yeah, I watched the OWL all the time, but guess what, I live in a country where OWL token drops are not enabled. That’s pretty fair.

My question is how many types of micro transactions do we need? Currently we have Loot boxes, OWL currency, and access passes. Many companies in the games as a service space would love to have this many transaction types. And these are just the transactions that Activision/Blizzard have, if you are in the OWL Twitter world you have all the transactions that come from the Twitter side as well.

Times like these i think “At least theyre not doing this with Characters or Stages”.

Btw the people who are saying that “u just don’t have to pay for it” and “it is just a cosmetic”. People will definitely pay for it cuz they know how much people love maining heroes and getting all of their stuff. The whales will just keep on buying it and we will get more and more of these type of skins. Another problem was that we weren’t told that we will ever get legendary owl skins that will be purchasable by owl tokens. Never. Just on an ugly day they announce this after everybody had already spent their tokens…

Skins would have to be 5$ for me to invest some money into getting a few. They’re missing out on a huge market- the non rich people. Guess what its only 20% of the population that can’t afford to throw away 15$ every day. So we’re all wrong. People who want the skins will buy them. 20% of people who want the skins will just have to suffer until the world regulates some sort of income based price scaling feature into the world. And that will never happen.

Wow there isn’t single positive comment in this whole thread. Blizzard must be doing something right! Keep it up guys! The ultimate trolls of the gaming world. They just want an excuse to ban you all so you’ll buy a new account. That’s why they ban accounts for CHAT VIOLATIONS rather than just muting your chat. $$$ it’s all they care about. They literally don’t care if you enjoy the game or not. They have employees they can keep busy they don’t care if you spend extra money or not. They’re after sponsors and they also feed off gaming addicts. People with no jobs and inheritance who can just sit around all day snortin coke or some other stimulant. Hey why do you think they made the game so intensely fast paced? They must all be on crack.

They’ve reduced the price of these from 300 tokens each to 200.

You’re missing the point entirely. I take objection to content, even merely cosmetic content, being locked behind a paywall for a game I’ve already paid full price for (if you count my alt account, copies I’ve given as gifts, and any lootboxes I’ve purchased I’ve actually paid for the game several times over, but I digress).

Why is it so wrong for me to expect that once I’ve paid full price for a game, to not HAVE to spend anymore money in order to get all of the content in said game? When I was a kid and I bought a game, that was it. I had all the content in the game. We didn’t really have updates back then, but on the off chance there was an update, we got it for free, because we bought the game.

Then there’s TF2, which switched to a completely free to play model. You’re not required to spend a cent on that game to enjoy it’s contents. You can very reliably unlock all the weapons and get the cosmetics you want through random drops/trading (which you don’t even have to invest money in trading). And TF2 is over a decade old with 7 years on a F2P model going strong.

If you think games work like that, then you are very wrong. The majority of games have in-game purchases. And I see no reason to whine over a cosmetic item that a) dosen’t even look good and b) dosen’t effect gameplay. The majority of skins in OW you are able to recieve through loot boxes that do not cost. There’s nothing wrong with a game having 2 skins that do cost. Especially when there are so many other options.

Thankfully the skins are very ugly and not many will buy them.
