There are so many players with substantially higher than 50% winrate that the matchmaker must be very bad at forcing it. Even if you play with a full premade, this concept of an evil matchmaker could still make you all lose if it wanted to by placing you against a much better team. It doesn’t do that because what it’s actually doing is trying to give each game a 50/50 outcome individually. That is not at all the same as artificially forcing each player to a 50% winrate.
Exactly this!
Also, playing as a 6 stack mean you are actually more likely to get an imbalanced game.
It will try to find another 6 stack of similar average SR, and if it can’t do that in a set time, it starts looking for 2,3,4 stacks to put with each other.
No, players being better than you is perfectly normal.
What’s abnormal is being thrown on a team of individuals with sub 40% WRs within the same role.
That is handicapping. Or rigging. The terms are synonymous.
the game grabs 12 people based on SR.
the game sorts those teams based on MMR, to get as close to a theoretical 50/50 match.
so the best players have to be seperated, they have to have lower mmr players put on teams in a way to make the match as close to a theoretical 50/50 as possible.
it gives you worst team mates if you do well. how can it achieve a 50/50 match if it puts the good players together?
typically what is being asked by people who make these threads is:
have the game grab 12 players based on SR such as it does now. assign them to teams randomly.
the reason why is, this more often makes the higher skill players win, because they are no longer forced to be separated. which means the worse players can no longer be carried, and over time the matches start to naturally be even
You forgot the part that the matchmaker gets more “flexible” based on the time passed. To avoid folks being on the queue for hours without finding a match.
But, yeah. Often the team it’s composed with similar MMR. But it is well know that folks can trick the system by onetricking their way through the game until reach a wall. That wall makes the player underpeform until reaches their own place.
Most likely he got placed with players in that particular situation or alt accounts who didn’t had enough matches to have proper MMR.
While virtually SR tries to follow MMR, one tricking and maining a hero makes those two having a really great gap from reality. Pair comp system tied to SR and then, paired with MMR will create situations that you can’t find you MMR match in that particular SR range.
It’s entirely player’s fault, they have entire statistics in their own account. They don’t need to alt to play a single hero. It’s their choice to mess with the system that’s based on role based performance on comp while gauges individual performance per hero basis. Their argument it’s because they don’t want to mess with their rank, but if they deserve their current rank it’s based on roles not in a particular hero.
The fact of that they use a new account instead their current one already messes with any metrics or reliability of that experiment. Because one system has metrics on role which are MMR, SR accounts your individual score in that match but it is based on MMR. Comp favors SR to MMR because focus in a particular SR range before considering MMR.
If you alt or one trick your way through you effectively are feeding your MMR with non reliable data and you start to have discrepancy on SR and MMR. Making your matches even less balanced.
That’s why often folks reach around 80-100% winning or lose values. Until the entropy plays on the equation and the player learn that doesn’t exist only one hero in that particular role.
While in reality folks should be about 40-60% range effectively proving that they had balanced matches and their MMR are correctly calculated. Winning percentile it’s a consequency of how well tuned your MMR are and how far it is from your SR.
So, if you want balanced matches you should play your role with the best pick for each situation. Doing so, your winning rate would be eventually shift towards 40-60 range. Otherwise you didn’t had enough matches or are putting too much noise on the system.
You can test it in a very simple way. Challenge yourself to play with and only with that friend for about 10000 matches, both folks don’t play alone. Your MMR will eventually reach those numbers and place you where you belong. If you alternate group and solo your performance would be all over the place and would take way more games to gauge the deviation of it.
You can do it about 3000 games, following the same suggestion but doing solo. If you’re not onetricking or maining any hero you should start to get more balanced matches in about 1k games, in about 2k the majority would be balanced and in about 3k only a few will not. Ending your account being at the 40-60% range. The more you play doing that the more your account would go for that entropy.
It’s way easier to gauge your MMR alone than in a group, because, each game your group it’s matched based on the average of you guys. So in the end the average of you guys will find your own balance. If you toy with more members or solo, those values eventually will become closer but would take way more time to do so.
Folks have bad matches because doesn’t play the game as supposed to be played. While groups and solo has discrepancy and generate noise, most of the time it’s one tricking, maining hero or poor teamwork.
Which the system doesn’t account it, while could have some stats of the teamwork based on endorse. Maining hero it’s unreliable because it’s based on time played and you can play several heroes in one match. Same could be said to onetricking, the system doesn’t know that you’re one trick or not.
While system can be fed with some patterns, most players don’t have enough hours invested in the game to make that value reliable enough.
System gets better over time, but needs to be fed properly. Which often players don’t do. Then, they would blame the system and try to trick their own way to gauge by themselves and complaint about the system. While in reality eventually will be landed in the same place within a small error margin that eventually will be sorted out if everybody does the same.
Idk I’ve held a 64% win rate as d.va since the game released and I have no problem keeping it 60+
Did you expect to win every game? Of course you were bound to lose one it’s not rigged
Not it isn’t. Not even remotely.
Wouldn’t say rigging but it does put you in very hard matches especially winning many games. Where you have to pull a Tom Brady type game to win these very obtuse games.
You mean you win games. Climb and meet better players…
That isn’t rigging, or anything artificial. That is just you climbing, but not improving. Eventually you are going to get slapped.
