1.29 Known Issues List

Disclaimer: This is not a complete list of all currently tracked issues affecting this build of Overwatch, rather this is a targeted list of some known specific issues with this release.

Patch 1.29

Colorblind Options


  • Not all of the Capture the Flag UI has custom coloring implemented yet
  • The Tab Screen in Deathmatch does not have custom coloring applied to it
  • Junkenstein’s Revenge UI elements do not have color blind coloring
  • It is possible that while in Hero Select, player names may be missing from their player icons
  • The score screen between rounds of Control maps does not have color blind options applied for both teams
  • If a player has a self inflicted death, a small colored square will appear in the killfeed for their killer instead of a blank space

Hero Specific

  • When playing as Mercy, the Buff UI Icon on your screen is not receiving color blind color options
  • The warning Icon that appears for an incoming explosive blast (Tracer and D.Va’s Ultimates) does not receive custom coloring

Torbjorn Rework


Deploy Turret

  • If you throw your turret straight up and let it land on you, it will be built on top of you
  • If the turret is destroyed by cars on Oasis, the turret will explode multiple times
  • The tracking beam which follows the turrets target is jittery
  • You can place torb’s turret in unintended locations on several maps


  • The Torbjorn bot can waste a globule of slag from Molten Core if he is repairing his Turret when he activates his Ultimate
  • Torbjorn can get stuck trying to repair his turret if it is damaged and atop the payload or other locations he cannot reach
  • If Torbjorn is contesting a point, he will not stop to drop a new turret even if it is available for him to do so



  • Brigitte’s shield is in its compacted state during her “Shield Bash” Highlight Intro


  • D.Va’s nameplate appears misaligned during the “Pumpkin Selfie” victory pose


  • If Junkrat is stunned during his RIP-Tire animation, he goes back to his default idle animation for the remainder of the ultimate


  • Mercy’s left leg will twitch while she stands idle


  • The VFX for her barrier being destroyed does not play consistently


  • If Reinhardt charges into a short ledge/wall, SFX for the collision may not play


  • Hook does not destroy breakables when pulling back
  • There are some animation issues when firing your gun immediately after a successful hook



  • There is a soda can which defies the laws of physics when hit

Temple of Anubis

  • Small heroes are bouncing when standing near the Obelisks outside of point B

Volskaya Industries

  • The turbine just inside of the factory’s front entrance has slippery collision surrounding it


Hero Gallery

  • When filtering to view unlocks for Overwatch League, an incorrect unlock total is displayed for heroes
  • You are unable to rotate heroes and weapons while the UI is hidden with Alt+Z

Mystery Heroes

  • While in a skirmish waiting for players, the Mystery Heroes ruleset isn’t enforced and you can be who you want

Team Deathmatch

  • Once one team makes it to 25 kills, the “x kills remaining” VO will play each time the losing team gets a kill to catch up

Patch 1.28



  • AI Bots are able to get through the spawn room blockers that keep enemy players out


  • When looking towards MEKA Base, some rock walls are missing textures and can be seen through



  • If two Brigittes Shield Bash each other at the same time the results are inconsistent


  • Traps placed on top of your Cryo-freeze ice block it will fall through


  • If you fire your shotgun immediately after using the hello emote, you might not hear the blast SFX


  • If you teleport at the same time as you attempt to destroy your teleporter, the cooldown will briefly show a 2 second cooldown before correctly updating to 4 seconds
  • If you attempt to teleport while emoting, the teleporter will be destroyed, but you will not be moved to it
  • If your Translocator beacon is destroyed by a moving platform, you do not receive vfx or sfx notification it was destroyed


  • Turrets can sometimes be destroyed if teleported on to a moving platform


  • If your Venom Mine is destroyed by a moving platform, the UI indicator for its location will linger on screen for a few extra seconds
  • It is possible for Widowmaker to be pushed through a platform if she grapples the underside of it

Wrecking Ball

  • If you deploy your Minefield on top of Mei while she is in Cryo-Freeze, her ice cube will not detonate the mines
  • The aimed positioning of your reticle will vary between your mech and ball forms



  • The stair case directly outside the first attackers spawn room has a small gap in its collision which can cause placed objects to fall through

King’s Row

  • It is possible for Zenyatta to get caught in the branches of the trees outside the attacker’s first forward spawn room

Lijiang Tower

  • It is possible to get stuck between the space suits on Control Center

Route 66

  • One of the I-beams in the train wreck debris has collision extending outside of its model
  • Wrecking Ball is able to get himself stuck behind the counter of the Panorama Diner and can only get out via grappling hook


Hero Gallery

  • Promotional items tied to celebrations are counted towards the default unlock count at the landing page

Older Known Issues



  • Heroes hit by Sleep Dart may have animation issues when hit by other abilities
  • Shooting an ally that’s at full health counts as a miss


  • Rocket Punch does not knock back D.va’s mech as it is self-destructing
  • Doomfist’s Rocket Punch doesn’t damage Junkrat’s Concussion Mine.


  • Sonic Arrow model disappears when it destroys some breakables


  • Some of his bombs spin in his vest holster when viewing certain skins


  • The handle on top of Snowball’s head doesn’t react to physics properly in the Hero Gallery


  • Biotic Grasp can still briefly do damage after Moira is killed
  • Biotic Orb does not correctly bounce off of moving platforms
  • Biotic Orb will travel directly through Mei’s Cryo-Freeze instead of bouncing off
  • Biotic Orb will continue attempting to heal D.Va’s mech when it reaches zero health and is animating being destroyed
  • Healing tendrils will attach directly to invisible heroes like stealthed Sombra and a recalling Tracer


  • The “DETECTED” notification can trigger even though she has not been detected by enemies


  • Symmetra can place her Teleporter off the edge of the map in Practice Range, causing her to die instantly when ported
  • If you’re too close to a certain wall near the Numbani payload, it will cause Symmetra’s Turrets to attach to it even though you are aiming across the way

Wrecking Ball

  • When viewing in 3rd person, if Wrecking Ball aims straight up into the air, the camera becomes obscured inside his body



  • Candelabras lose texture and lighting when hit
  • Players can wedge themselves on a rooftop overlooking a spawn room
  • Sometimes Defender AI bots in an Eichenwalde Custom Game will attempt to go through an inaccessible door


  • There is no bell sound that rings when the first point is captured


  • There is a building in the skyline which is not receiving lighting and appears pitch black


  • Reinhardt’s Earthshatter does not effect targets standing on the moving turbine blade near the final point

Nepal (Capture the Flag)

  • Several health packs on the map are slightly out of place


  • D.Va’s Self Destruct can destroy the breakable floor through walls


  • Shorter heroes can interact with the mannequins in the Caresini shop



  • If a player is invited to a game that has all player and spectating slots full, they do not receive an error that they cannot join the game
  • The green arrows indicating you performed above you career average do not display correctly when performing better or worse than your average
  • Certain Ultra graphics video settings causes stuttering


  • Sometimes Defender AI bots in an Eichenwalde Custom Game will attempt to go through an inaccessible door

Custom Game

  • The Game Browser does not provide any indication that AI Bots will not function in Elimination and CTF game modes
  • Disabling Primary fire for D.Va turns off the mechs Fusion Cannons, and her Pistol
  • The ammo counter displayed on some hero weapons may not function correctly if the Ammunition Clip Size Scalar is modified
  • Ultimates will re-enable weapons that have their primary fire disabled for the duration of the Ultimate


  • When viewing recorded highlights using the in game video player, footage has current video settings applied over video settings at time of recording (causing footage to appear twice as dark or bright)

Sound & V.O.

  • Dolby Atmos can sometimes cut off sounds coming from below the player
  • Explosions sometimes play in the rear speakers for surround sound systems
  • Announcer VO for taking and losing the lead in Team Deathmatch doesn’t play if the shift happens due to self inflicted death
  • When taking damage and healing at the same time, it’s possible to trigger the “near death” gasping sound effect repeatedly
