I’m predicting the hero to be released during Archives. Since we wont have a new story mission, an origin story could make up for that. And similarly to summer games, I think they may release the Archives event much sooner. They’ve always said how they wanted to make a bigger gap between Archives and anniversary. This is a perfect opportunity.

I hope so at least. Haha

They already said nothing new is coming for Archives.

They said there would be no new mission for Archives. They didn’t rule out the possibility of other lore/content.

Honestly I feel like Blizzard is OBLIGED to release Echo as Hero 32. lemme remind y’all she was teased on McCree’s “Reunion” short as the hero 32, but “they liked Ashe so much they made her hero 32 instead”, which I begrudgingly accept as not only she is a fun hero, I can understand when you work on something and a small detail of it sparks a brainstorm off your head. BUT, we still got a new hero teased one entire year before OW2 was announced, and they delayed her under the excuse “she is very important”, and so far, her two other appearances, OW2 trailer and OW2 released gameplay had… absolutely NOTHING! She flew by and greeted winstom (hey, McCree did tell her to say “hi” to winstom, thats a nice callback xD) and she piloted a ship. Literaly both her scene could be replaced with any other hero, if there is something important for her, Blizzard didn’t even bother to hint it so far on OW2, which means she can’t be part of the OW2 big hero package, she MUST be hero 32, for the sake of blizzard not insulting its playerbase.

Yeah, as DoctorSix said, Blizz has only said there’s no new mission for the event itself. But this isn’t pertaining to the event. This is for the base game and only taking place during the same time. Just like summer games when Sigma was announced during it.

I’m not expecting any new content (maps, heroes) until OW2.
Which is predictably after blizzcon. If OW2 is free? Is only the campaign $40/$60? Will the new heroes be locked with a paywall?

Didn’t they tease the next hero at blizzcon? Another sniper?

They’ve said they are releasing " at LEAST 1 new hero " (quote from Blizz themselves) before OW2. Which is why there is a lot of speculation regarding hero 32, because they are releasing one we just don’t know when.

A lot of people must have not heard that, because I’ve seen several people say the same thing

You’ll have to pay for the story mode most likely. However, they did say that the new heroes and maps will be free to those who already have overwatch.

I’m not sure about the sniper tease. I haven’t heard about that

It’s thought that the project A beta will start next month in March.
Gotta find a new game during the dry spell.
It’s kinda sad and very telling that the game itself can’t be exciting without a new unbalanced hero coming out every 3 months

Setting yourself up for disappointment.

They release when they release. But you do you just expect to receive criticism/consequences for spamming the forums.
