🏓 Why are people posting about Hong Kong? [Explanation]

it is 6 in English but 8 in their language.

Elaborate.

Player said 8 words but before he said so, the casters said say your 8 words. Showing that they knew what was coming, is that not what you are talking about?

I hadn’t even registered the casters are taiwanese.

Blizz must be exceptionally popular there right now as well after firing 2 taiwanese citizens to appease mainland China.

Yes he did according to the people who translated and are supporting him on twitter.

Yeah. They’ve banned his personal Overwatch account now too.

as in, 6 words were definitely said but you’re passing it of as 8. Can you give a citation or explain it more thoroughly?

I watched his stream. (Pretty sad) either way, what was their reasoning?

Okay. Well I don’t know Chinese so if takes extra words in that language, I believe ya.

Still doesn’t change anything because that’s a popular slogan. If I showed up to an interview dressed like Colin Kaepernick and was kneeling, it wouldn’t be hard for you to guess that I might say “Black Lives Matter”

Many of the HK protesters have been saying those exact words. It’s a catchphrase.

They acknowledge that they had a hunch because of his gas mask.

He hasn’t explained their reasoning to my knowledge.

That’s a huge stretch in logic. It’s possible but you’re going to have to give far better reasoning than that. Also, there was a director since Virtual explicitly refers to his director. Unless you think he is lying. But then Blizzard executive or anyone working there can easily show that he is lying by showing that they do not in fact employ a director.

Languages are different, one word in one language may require two words in another to express the same meaning.

what you see of what he said is the translation of what he said. But if you learnt his language and counter the words in his language they would be 8.

Here

Claiming to know more about the events than the caster who was there is beyond belief anyway.

People don’t just hide during interviews. And their explanation is consistent with what is shown on tape.

The caster’s behavior is consistent with that of those who are nervous or scared.

To prove your point you need to compare the English translation to the original language and count the words. If you can’t do that, you’re just making assumptions based on something you don’t know about.

What does “let” mean?

I cannot read the original. I can only go by the translators. They have no reason to lie especially because they support the casters.

The translators never said that the player said 6 words. That’s what we concluded from the English translation. Again, you need to compare the two translations to prove your point or you’re just making an assumption based on nothing. Likelihood is, they translated both of the statements into English, including the number of letters to make it more accurate.

Claiming to know more about the events than Blizzard who hired all the staff there and conducted the investigation is beyond belief anyway.
