The Hero went from like B tier to F tier (46% WR) in normal games. The answer to shut him down was always to hard focus him, and now that opponents are properly encouraged to do so, he is a low threat most of the time.
I’m not opposed to a death loss, but the numbers need adjustment and I’m not seeing anything on the PTR.
A simple adjustment of -3 to -2 on death would probably work. However I feel like his outstanding ARAM performance is the main concern of whoever keeps changing him.
Here’s my suggestion:
Lose 3 stacks on death → Lose 5% of stacks on death.
This soft caps his scaling in feast matches without hurting as bad in famine matches. It will allow his lower stack builds to function again, and reward opponents handsomely for killing him when giga fed.
Sample numbers on death:
5 → 0 = -1 AD
34 → 29 = -1 AD
75 → 70 = -1 AD
100 → 95 = -1 AD
150 → 140 = -2 AD
200 → 190 = -2 AD
249 → 239 = -2 AD
250 → 235 = -3 AD (same as current penalty)
300 → 285 = -3 AD
400 → 380 = -4 AD
500 → 475 = -5 AD

Before avoid or shutting down would SLOW him down. He still MIGHT get stacked by late game.
Now the shut down makes it horrible to play him at all. And he wasn’t that oppressive to begin with.
They reallyeither need to reverse the minus stacks on death or make the double stacking talent baseline

I say: Revert the changes and nerf Recklessness a little bit.

Yeah Recklessness is the main reason he can get unreasonably fed sometimes. It mostly equates to 50-100% more stacking if played correctly, since activating Amani Rage from any health allows you to dip below the double stack threshold.
It’s difficult to reduce the stacking amount though since you can’t really give 0.5 extra autos. They would have to redo the logic in some way.
A simple enough change could be to lower the health threshold for extra stacks. 40% might be enough? Now activating Amani Rage only when already below 80% will give access to extra stacks. This makes it much harder to use the mechanic at the very start of fights.

The loss of stacks on death is such a stupid component for a hero that is supposed to play on the edge with health. If they wanted to nerf him they should make outside healing or shielding reduced with recklessness. Losing stacks is just typical Blizzard anti-attack carry. Someone on the balance team lost a game in silver I guess.

true, make risky hero → punish for risk
Agreed. The only hero I liked playing, but no more Hots for me until they fix that nonsense. No fun at all
Not to be negative. But if you play only one character in any game, you’re setting yourrself up to be dissapointed, because that character will change eventually.
Have you tried every hero?
He was one of my favorite characters and now is unplayable garbage. Very few characters lose stacks on death; why would this one be different

This hero is currently dumpstered in coordinated play. No reason to pick except very niche situations where Q build is strong. Valla does the same job better otherwise with less downsides and less risk.
