Why did this game fail? I still like playing it but

Not enough publicity, oversaturated moba market

HotS didn’t and hasn’t failed. And making it into a LoL/DotA clone would just drive away the players like myself who hate those games and wanted something different. Making it into yet another MOBA with generic cute anime girls would drive me away. Last-hitting would drive me away. Individual XP and ‘carries’ would drive me away. Literally any of those things, if i wanted them, i could get from the other popular MOBA’s on the market.

Please stop trying to make HotS be dead/a failure. It’s not. Please stop trying to force this game to be LoL. LoL already exists, we don’t need another one.

Thanks, fam

i’m pretty sure it is dead but yeah keep on dreaming silly boy

It was late to the competition. I don’t know if anything else sealed its deal so simply as Blizzard’s slow release of HotS. Had it been out in 2009/2010 with the rest of the competitors…

I’m the same. If it became a clone of LOL I to would leave.
I would be interested to see if it would make a difference but highly doubt it.

Yes the game failed.

By your and Blizzard logic the developers decide lets see what maked LoL and DotA popular and we should do the opposite and then make people pay even more for the privilege of playing a Blizzard game? We’re Blizzard!” Hey moba fans fak your favourite mechanics and go play our game.

What is generic about LoL and Dota?

Yeah. Lets dont add things that the market wants cuz you know we do not want new players.

The game failed because no one wants to play it and people do not want to play it because the game do not appeal to them.

I can say with the utmost confidence, that hyper mobile characters are not a problem, even for characters they counter. Tracer does not kill me anymore than Illidan does, and I typically die to her when it’s my fault for overextending.

Tracer and Genji are toothpicks that have to pick their opportunities to go in very wisely. If you’re giving those opportunities often, you need to get better at the game.

You gonna make a coherent argument or nah? Because i play HotS daily and usually my friends and I have enough people for three or four 5-man groups, with more still trying to play, and our queue times are super short in all game modes while we rarely see the same opponents twice.

But yeah, i guess that’s a dead game.

You did not even try to refute any my arguments. Yeah. When I am playing HotS with friends I am still getting games. Same with Smite or Paladins.

fail becouse Blizzard is death and Activision-Bli$$ard more interested in money than gameplay

well, it hasn’t “failed” strictly speaking. The pro scene failed because blizzard tried to dominate the market by throwing a bunch of money at it, but for some reason they were in such a rush to do it that they forgot to perfect the game, first.

Like tower ammo was something they removed after several tournaments had already been played. To me, that says that all of those prior tournaments don’t really count because the game wasn’t ready. Every major patch had this message attached to it, in fact - prior iterations of the game were a mistake and here is the actual finished product.

Plus they kept adding new heroes that were either grossly overpowered and perma picked/banned in tournaments, or were never picked/banned in tournaments.

In so many words, the game was still changing too much when they tried to dominate the market. Indeed, I would say that it still needs improvement - from what I can tell, most games are determined by which team has the better level 16 talents. If a pro scene suddenly started up right now, that would again result in the same 15-20 heroes being picked/banned in every game. I guess there are a lot of boring/predictable elements in this game that make it hard to watch. Not sure if LoL has the same issue, because i don’t watch it…

wows you still get games but half of both teams are bots where you get a ban if you torp said bot because well bots are retarded and some times they love to run into ally torps.

by your logic that game which is very clearly dead because of stupid policy much like hots is not dead simply because you can find games.

half the teams are bots but hey. what does it matter that you can get bans because of retarded ai. none of that matters its alive and well.

people can say what they want but the chat ban bot killed the community and removed players who would likely still be playing but because toxic players with permanently hurt fefes and wah-wahs wanted them ban.

this will be a running theme going forward with games that lose there community. the butt hurts join it becomes toxic when it isn’t then the game loses its community and well youll see a lot of heroes of the storm in it.

2.0 only added a in-game shop with a in-game currency and lootbox.

2.0 release had little impact on how the game was being played. And that is probably the saddest part of 2.0.

The design shift with overwatch hypermobity and powercreep in the game started before 2.0.

Activision hates anything that is actually good.

Also phones

One reason people seem to have forgotten to mention: Blizzard devs don’t play their own games.

Just look at the post-Blizzcon interviews for any of their games, at times it’s like they are talking about a completely different version of the game, it’s almost disturbing really.

I myself have been playing since Closed Beta, and still enjoy the game to this day (although I don’t play it everyday like others).

The issue for me has always been that none (or at least not many) of my friends play the game. Their reasoning is either that they don’t like Mobas (understandable) or already have a moba they play when they feel like it, such as Dota or League.

I guess for a game like Hots… it’s hard to really enter a market that is so fiercely dominated by those two giants. It’s much more of a niche game, just like Smite is for example. There’s people who play it, and they may love it, but for many others it’s just not the game they are looking for due to how it diverges from the base formula that has made Mobas a big thing via Dota and LoL.

Pay//?
Who pays anything in HOTS/ lol

i can only think of the people that don’t want to bother farming gold to buy heroes so they just buy gems and purchase the heroes they want. same goes for the boosters and perhaps bundle skins etc.

It failed because

  1. They created a highly abused reporting system that yielded widespread automatic account actions. When people tried to appeal those actions, tickets always just got a cookie cutter response with immediate ticket closure. GM’s attitude on Heroes of the Storm account actions were always “if you accumulated enough reports to receive an account action, then you must have deserved it.”

  2. They severely neglected the community; and rarely chimed in on the official forums. So many great ideas and discussions, never to get anywhere.

HotS has always been a great game with a lot of potential… It died from bad politics.

I didn’t mind Overwatch heroes but them creating a hero that has the ability to one shot you in a combo with no real counterplay besides dodging chains killed my interest tbh
