What mechanics do you want to see in hots?

A hero who specialises in using his enemy’s ultimate against him/her. The hero ultimate should allow the hero to steal an enemy ult and use it for himself a single time (then getting to steal and ult again and so fouth). I dont mean stealing in the litteral sense of the word the enemy who had his ult “stolen” can still use his/her ult if it was not on cooldown. This mechanic would be awesome and unique imo :grinning:

This would be a ton of work and probably never be done but I’d like to see a hero that functions kinda like how Rogue in Marvel Heroes. For those that don’t know that game was kinda like Diablo but with a huge roster of Marvel characters. The way rogue worked in that is for each hero and villain in the game she can steal a predetermined ability from them and incorporate it into her overall build.

The way I’d see this done in HotS is each character has one predetermined ability that this character can copy. You can copy from both enemies and allies so in any given match you have up to 9 choices of non-heroic abilities. You do this via point and click abilities initially on each hotkey. For the heroes that rely on resources other than mana notably Morales and Auriel try to select abilities that aren’t reliant upon consuming that resource so grenade for Morales or Detainment Strike for Auriel (as examples). For heroic abilities copying a chosen ability would be too strong I think but maybe choose between getting a random ally or specific enemy’s heroic ability. Id set it up that way so that you can’t deliberately set your team up to have 2 of a really strong heroic ability with the ally ability and choosing a specific enemy comes with the downside of needing your opponent to be at 10 so you have to wait until you lose that advantage or already be behind and the opponents can pick abilities that don’t synergize well with your team.

Talents would be hard to determine and neither option I can think of is great. Either it would need to be pretty generic ones like “increase the duration of your stuns and slows by 0.5 seconds” which isn’t terribly exciting and making a lot of these would be tough. The alternative would be taking talents for the abilities you’ve chosen from each of the heroes whos abilities you’ve taken which would have a crazy amount of work that needs to be done to on the fly as you pick abilities which the engine might not be able to handle which sorta brings us to the nail in the coffin for this idea.

The amount of work that this hero alone would need is insane. A ton of animations would need to be done to make this hero not look like a mess. Balancing would be an absolute nightmare as every new hero potentially provides a massive power increase to this character and all the possible combos need to be factored into balancing it. Then you need to figure out what to classify this hero as since the variance on it would be huge. You could end up being a huge CC machine that is miserable to be up against if the choices aren’t well thought out (imagine diablo’s charge into garrosh’s throw in murky’s octograb or butcher’s lamb) that can be done now but require pretty significant coordination that few teams would have and this could accidentally all be on one hero.

Never gonna happen but Id be super hyped if it ever did
