Unusable middle mouse wheel camera movement mechanic

I would like to report a gameplay mechanic flaw/bug within Heroes of the Storm.

Moving the camera by pressing in on the mousewheel and dragging the mouse is an option featured in similar MOBAS such as League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth.

However, within HotS, there is a major flaw with this gameplay mechanic.

When the player presses in on the middle mouse wheel and drags their mouse to move the camera, the cursor stays in the same place on the screen once the mousewheel is released.

To be specific - it’s essential that the cursor moves WITH the mouse, as otherwise this makes the mechanic completely unusable.

The idea that the cursor would stay in a locked position would imply that you are clicking in on your middle mouse, dragging your mouse to move the camera, then returning your mouse to the original position before releasing the mousewheel. Completely unrealistic and unusable.

Again, please note the way this mechanic works withing competitors HoN and LoL. (I believe it’s also the same in DOTA?)

Please fix this, or at least make it an option to change the setting.

As an additional note, I would say it’s equally important to SHOW the mouse cursor during this camera movement - do not hide the cursor.

As a game where you are exclusively using your mouse to move your hero, cast your abilities, etc, you can see how essential and game breaking this is for a player such as myself, who mainly utilizes this mechanic to move the camera.

Ill be honest, I move my camera like this so infrequently that I forgot it was even a feature.

I have those useless right and left middle mouse buttons, so I cannot hit the middle one without hitting one of the others. Because of that, I don’t use the middle mouse button for anything.

I wonder what the pros do? I’m guessing they don’t use the middle mouse button either—or they do, and this is the better way to have it implemented?

Some use mouse but mostly I’ve seen people use the default keyboard with the only exception is swapping H (Hold) and S (Stop) so it’s easier to reach (and usually stop is not as useful as Hold).

Outside of this, Quick Cast A (Attack) is a must, everything else isn’t important.

I don’t really think about how I move the screen. I’m pretty sure I just flick my mouse to the edge of the screen for an instant. That comes form the multitude of other RTS games I’ve played that have the same screen movement system.

I’ve been trying to get better at using space bar to center when I need it.
