Trick to add players you played with before

say you played with someone in a match, but for whatever reason forgot or was unable to add them as a friend. there is a way to find this person’s battle tag.

search through your replays until you find the player in question. open the replay, and seek to the end. yes, that is time consuming and annoying, but it it will get you to a score screen as if you just played the match. you can then click on the cog and add the player as a friend and view their profile.

if there is some easier way to do this, someone please tell me. but so far i have not found any other way.

i get asked how to do this sometimes in general chat, so maybe someone here will look for the answer one day and it it will help them.

This is way better than hard searching ut through notepad, bumped for clarity.

  1. extract replays in question w 7zip or the like
  2. open all extracted files in notepad++ (or similar)
  3. search all opened files for hero name
  4. enjoy a short list of occurences you can skip to via doubleclick
  5. pattern is Battletag (stuff) - hero (more stuff) - hero name, possibly using multiple lines but it’s the only clear text anyways
