Are there level 20 upgrades that you never ever even consider?
That just seem worthless to you?
Is that because the alternative is just so amazing or fun, or because the ult upgrade or storm talent is garbage?
For me, a garbage level 20 would be Genji’s “Sharpened Stars” - Shurikens now pierce all targets.
When would this ever be good or necessary and be able to outshine either ult upgrades or super deflect?
Meanwhile on Ragnaros so have I never taken Flames of Sulfuron for Ragnaros, the upgrade to his Sulfuras Smash.
But that’s mainly because his Heroic Difficulty talent (upgrade to his D-trait) is super fun and also very strong.
And because the ult upgrade seems kinda lackluster. Sure, an added slow or stronger stun seems useful, but when I use my ult and hit with it properly, people die anyway. Adding a stronger stun to a corpse doesn’t help much.
But I’m interested in what you guys think. Because to one person, one talent could be a garbage talent, but to another person, that’s their main go to super talent, because they play differently or know how to make good use out of it or just really enjoy it.
And I’m also curious whether there are level 20 talents that people would agree could use an update or change.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever ever ever seen anyone take Genji’s Sharpened Stars talent. According to HP, it has a 3.35% popularity… This talent definitely seems like it could use an update. Maybe double the capacity for shurikens, I dunno.
I find it kinda weird and fun that Butcher and Illidan still have Bolt of the Storm at 20; couldn’t they get a custom blink?
Like Butcher could get a blink that resets his charge CD and Illidan could get a blink that automatically activates Evasion or something.
The Medivac lv20 upgrade. It always felt so… Meh. It was horrible when all it did was heal up the passengers inside, but even now when it gives Protected & lowers the cooldown, it just doesn’t feel worth a Storm Talent for Lt. Morales.
For some reason I read “The Medivh lv20 upgrade” and confused myself.
It certainly isnt a very useful talent when using medivac the traditional way of simply traveling from a to b.
But I have had like one fun use out of it when I used it to land my team right top of the enemy in an ARAM.
Although I usually end up taking either the safeguard talent or the grenade talent at her 20’ties as well…
It might be a fun talent when using it with a coordinated team so you can quickly do a surprise attack on top of the enemy with your entire team and become incredibly stupid if you set it up but no one goes in so you just end up flying into your own death cuz your team wasnt paying attention or are cowards.
Just any hero who still have Nexus Blade.
Pure Power on Li-Ming is mostly just a meme talent that roots you but people love to spam it casue its long range.
Anub only have one talent and that is Rewind. You dont take one you pass away huge power spike on him.
KT only good lvl 20 is longer range on flamestrike. No one pick ult upgrade or infinity living bomb spreads casue people wont be stacked long enough to value of it. (maybe in wood league it might)
Garrosh Inner rage or just the whole concept of Body Check is not good enough would be the pick for least picked talent here. Titanic might is just too good to pass away and who pick ult upgrades on him anyway ?
And for Varian. When have someone ever seen a Varain pick Demo Shout that reduse dmg done by enemies inteed of talking Glory to the Alliance that gives him a perma flag with hp regen
And Leo Shroud talent that grant him protected for 3 sec. No one ever pick that over Entomb upgrade or Burning Despair.
Cryptweave on Anub’arak. Setting aside the fact that Rewind is busted on him, Cryptweave is just sort of meh. Anub is supposed to be played as a hit and run tank, so locking him down to a confined area goes against his entire design, and makes him more vulnerable to being blown up. The damage is OKish if you Cocoon a squishy, but does nothing if you have to take their tank out of the fight. Having a variable duration on the Cocoon can also mess with the timing of people following up on it.
If Rewind were deleted from the game, I would probably still never take Cryptweave, as Traitor King would likely have more of an impact in the late game.
I love when people pick it though, cuz it always ends up in that silly situation where they cocoon someone and then stand around the cocoon for another 6 seconds waiting cuz of the extension.
Samuro: Blademaster’s Pursuit, because I prefer either heroic upgrades or Wind Strider. I kinda dislike all his trait talents lol.
Tracer: Composition B
The Butcher, Fires of Hell.
Gazlowe, Mecha-Lord
3 and 4 is kinda the same, because I wouldn’t pick the heroic over the other option most of the time, but at least Gaz’s upgrade can be useful, but Fires of Hell is just crap to me. Maybe only good in ARAM with tons of CC?
Although it’s a short CD, it’s too much during a lvl 20 team fight.
I wish his trait would work with it, having CDR from hitting abilities, but increasing the base CD as a compensation.
It would be interesting for great mechanical players.
Big Tuna Kahuna, obviously. It’s a talent that does nothing beneficial. Murky does not need the extra health, and it just hurts you if you die. I would hate Big Tuna even if it weren’t competing with Making Inky.
But like seriously, Making Inky is his only level 20. It literally doubles the DPS of his main damage skill at no cost. Endless Murlocs can be fun for cheese, but you’re just gimping yourself if you don’t take Making Inky.
I’d also like to nominate Blaze’s Burn Notice. Nexus Blades is a pretty lame 20 in most cases to be begin with, but it makes no sense on his kit and this is probably the weakest version of it in the game.
pretty much all but the standard level 20 viking talent are useless or inefficient, occasionally I think about taking the ult upgrade but if you do that your reducing the experience lead you were fighting tooth and nail for for 90% of the first part of the game.
