Sick to Death of Overtuned Specialists

Why is it that every specialist, which is a glorified term for “siege hero” have an obnoxious amount of both hero and non-hero damage?

Why is it that Naz, Xul, and Azmo deal enough damage to outstrip most assassins in both burst and sustained? Why are they so damn safe? Why doesn’t Naz’s trait have a cap? Why does Naz have ice block when he already has both a root and good peel embedded in his kit? Why can Ravenous Spirit outrun a hero with several movement speed bonuses? Why can Azmo just sit his fat self a mile behind the front line and nuke your entire team during every fight? Why does Azmo have as much health as a tank? Why does Xul have a root and a shield? Why does he have so much health? Why does he do so much damage? Why does someone always have to babysit that insufferable murloc every single game? It’s boring. It’s a chore. What is so impossibly difficult about giving specialists a bonus to only non-heroic targets instead of making them gods at everything? I’m tired of it. I’m tired of this game.

they don’t? In terms of burst damage?

Globes burst damage is very overrated until you get lots of stacks and take black pool. And is telegraphed…
Naz has spiders which requires a skillshot and can be dodged.
Xul, uh. What burst damage Does Xul have?

If you’re playing Nazeebo very safe either:

  1. enemy team is pushing wave towards your tower and letting you get safe stacks easily
  2. you’re playing poorly.

If Azmodan is safe, well. This one depends a lot on the other team also. If they clump up and let him land orbs he can farm stacks very easily.

Xul, is uh. He has a root to help him escape, and a shield also? I don’t play him much so cannot comment as much here. But given how his trait works, if you’re playing safe you’re probably not taking advantage of his trait to push.

So playing safe is negating your power in lane for 2/3 or 3/3 of these characters…

Because it is not damage.
It is simply HP and mana. The latter is typically not important later in the game for Nazeebo. And as for HP, Nazeebo has no escapes, and even at level 20 cannot talent an escape.

Uh. A root? A peel?
Are you calling Zombie Wall a root? A telegraphed wall… is a root?

As for peel, you mean spiders/toads? Because i mean, sure. But if you want to call those peel, why does Jaina have peel?

As for ice block, if you have a better fit for Nazeebo that boosts his survive-ability at level 13 (the tier is all about giving Nazeebo help surviving),

I’m pretty sure it cannot until level 20, if someone has got movement speed buffs… And if you’re complaining that a level 20 talent that roots the caster can chase an enemy down, er. Okay…

I mean, if you want to deal garbage dps as Azmodan, sure?

If you’re only hitting two heroes per globe, you’re throwing away over half your DPS by not having demon warriors/auto-attacks/lazer.

So yeah, if you wanta throw away most of your DPS you can do that.

Azmodan has no way to escape, so he is given lots of HP to counter act that.
He can gain a pseudo escape at level 20 with Trample.

It was designed as part of his kit…?

He does not? His health is lower than most tanks, even tanks that are specialized like Anub’arak. Who has low HP for a tank in return for his CC, his beetles able to block some skillshots/do tanking and his short cooldown shield.

He doesn’t? I never recall seeing a Xul do crazy damage in any games I’ve played.
But given you’ve put forth zero evidence or even explanations of what “so much damage” is… I think I can just say that he does not, and you are wrong. These opinions are supported be equal evidence.

He doesn’t? Like, this sounds like personal variance and “bad luck” in that.

What is? Is this related to your last question? Presumably, but who knows given how poorly formatted this post was.

Well, one they’re losing the specialist tag!
Two, you’ve not even attempted to prove that these specialists you’ve mentioned are such gods.

If you want to put forth some evidence and critical discussion perhaps you could made an argument that could actually change peoples opinions.

If you’re tired of the game, put it down. Play something else.

In a week, or two, or a month. If you want to play it again, pick it back up!

This was Dabiri’s vision of the game and he wanted the specialists out from. what i understand.

Naz and Azmodan are assassins or they will be on tuesday. Xul is going to be a bruiser so having fair hero damage makes sense.

Two of those are ranged assassins. Xul is a melee character and only really has good self sustain if people bunch up.

Because it gives him a higher skill ceiling. Good Nazeebos balance getting lots of stacks of their trait and being present for team fights.

Doing that limits him to one of his abilities on a 6 second cooldown that is massively telegraphed

Because he’s a bruiser so that level of healthy, peel, and self sustain makes sense

Why aren’t you winning 5 v 4 team fights that murky isn’t showing up to?

Azmodan is safe?

How?

This, my dear students, is a grave case of l2p. I prescribe a higher dosage of game knowledge.

Why can Genji deflect High Explosives, Lava Waves, Photon Energy Beams, Fire, Holy Energy, Demonic Energy, Nuclear Explosions just by flailing a sword.

Why does Holy Magic heal demons and undead?

Why are Holy Heroes attacking the Angel Lieutenant in BoE?

Why can’t Kerrigan and Abathur use Zagaras Nydus?

Why did Nazeebos Sprint get removed but they kept ice block when witch doctor had no frost abilities and he had a Sprint ability which was part of spirit walk?

Just wanted to contribute since we are asking questions about things in a Blizzard game as if it were supposed to make sense.

And as a wise person once said.

“Abathur is the cutest thing I have ever seen”

Cyber Ninja.

(If he was just Ninja, it would still work, but cyber ninjas hit people while they block stuff.)

Well, you didn’t even try to justify your position, you just stated it as fact.

That kinda makes it hard to make serious replies.

Some things to take note:

  1. Specialists are not necessarily siege heroes, but rather heroes with weird mechanics or did not quite fit other categories.

  2. Over the years, blizzard has been removing many siege related perks of specialist (ammo in towers, things like sylv perma pve lockdown). They even stopped making specialists since probius, and the upcoming role reclassification removes the tag and puts most specialists into assassin/bruiser roles.

  3. Many non specialists also have good siege damage along with their hero damage.

Actually, ignorant noobs are part of the reason this game dies. People who never learn. People who cry OP and throw games the moment they die. People who report others for pointing out mistakes. People who want nerfs for heroes which are totally fine, but got roflstompped by a good player.

A good player: something you will never be, unless you stop complaining. All of us started somewhere, all of us felt some totally fine heroes were OP, but instead of crying out on the forum we just took the dose of l2p and figured out their weaknesses.

Next time you cry OP, remember you are not on the level of play where balance will actually affect you in any way.

Pot calling the kettle black.

With his 3.5% popularity, Xul is clearly one of the most broken OP heroes in this game that everyone either picks or bans at first opportunity.

OP really should have at least left Xul out of a troll post like that …

Well, at least you wont have to worry about overtuned specialists after tomorrow…

Frankly with how artanis MG and TB varian scare bottom ranks they would be terrorized at Cursed strike Xul.

On one hand, Specialists have had disproportionately higher winrates ever since the 2017-2018 laning changes, with usually no fewer than 5 in sitting above a 52% winrate.

On the other, that difference has dropped significantly since the 2018-2019 laning changes, and now there’s only 1 Specialist over 52% (Gazlowe at 53.5%).

Magic fire.

Who says anyone can pop it? It’s not actually made of water.

It’s Nexus powered.

Choice.

By getting killed. The aspects of an angels are not static states. As shown by Malthael going from being Wisdom to death.

It’s the nexus. They didn’t have a choice.

Because Blizzard is reworking specialists to be other roles.

Nazeebo is now a mage, Xul is a bruiser, et cetera.

Overtuned? Hammer, Abathur(?)…

Undertuned. the rest
