I do wish they’d remove it for titles. A snappy, one-word title is sometimes all you need, but instead you have to write something unwieldy to fill the quota.
Why did you hide a link?
Some people just have no imagination though, instead of writing “nerf tlv 20 characters” they could have just written “please nerf the lost vikings”. They didn’t even save time by using a shortcut.
Prefacing something with "What I think about " is more than enough to exceed the minimum character limit for thread titles and " is a problem" or " needs to be buffed" works even for Xul.
A thread with “character limit” or something similar in the title just makes the poster look like they’re too lazy to bother making a good argument for their case, whether their stance is reasonable or not.
This translates into.
“Get this forum full of spammed bot threads”
No.
To make people curious. I was thinking about making it a rickroll but eh.
You would already have seen bot threads anyway. A 20 character post shouldn’t deter any bot
There’s more than just that.
Yup.
Teach us how to do this sorcery
Also I agree
We really do not need 20 of these:

Aren’t Char from GW?
What is GW?
George Washington?
Guild Wars.
Char is actually a planet in StarCraft
cool.
I know them as the most evil a playable race in Guild Wars 2 haha, nice (now that you mention it I know some zerg skins are called Char)
You should take the time to read about Char
It is quite the place I’ll tell you
I never played any of the SC games haha, so I’m unfamiliar with the lore (I have to constantly bug Melke and Waterlong about it)
I’ll just paste a little bit of dialogue from that page here as a treat for you then:
“Char? You want me to tell you about Char? Oh man, I still wake up screaming from the nightmares I have about that pit. A thick layer of ash covers everything, and there’s this eerie red glow that comes from the magma that seeps up through the surface of the planet. One wrong step and you find yourself wading in a pool of hot lava. You ever hear the scream of a man as he is being burned alive by lava, Major? It’s not something you soon forget, let me tell you. And if the infernal planet doesn’t get you, there’s always the damned Zerg that’ll try and finish the job. Those devils were everywhere, and they killed a whole lot of my buddies in ways I don’t want to remember. Char was a hellhole, alright, and I rather have you kill me than send me back there again.”
Spoken by a dude who fought and survived on Char
That sounds suspiciously familiar to a land in a milieu I’m working on… >:(
