Dear Blizzard Team,
I recently noticed that Heroes of the Storm received a small update, which inspired me to download the game again.
I’m a player from Southeast Asia, and I’ve loved Heroes of the Storm ever since it was first released. Back in the day, my friends and I would gather at internet cafés as a full team of five just to play HotS together. We even convinced many of our Dota-playing friends to give the game a try because we genuinely believed it was something special.
Coming back to the game after all these years, I was excited to relive those memories.
Unfortunately, my very first Quick Match was incredibly discouraging.
As a solo player, I was matched against what appeared to be a coordinated 4–5 player party. My team wasn’t even given a healer, while the opposing team completely dominated us with coordination. I wasn’t expecting an easy win—I simply wanted a fair, competitive match where both sides had a chance.
Instead, it felt hopeless from the beginning.
This matchmaking issue has been affecting Southeast Asian players for years, and it’s still happening today.
If Blizzard truly wants to revive Heroes of the Storm and encourage former players to return, I sincerely hope you’ll consider improving the matchmaking experience—especially for solo players. Constantly placing solo players against full premade groups is one of the fastest ways to drive them away again.
Heroes of the Storm has always been one of my favorite MOBAs. Its unique gameplay, shared experience system, and objective-focused maps are still unlike anything else on the market. That’s exactly why it’s painful to see new and returning players greeted with such an unfair first experience.
Please don’t let one of Blizzard’s best games fade away because of a matchmaking system that discourages the very people trying to come back.
A loyal Heroes of the Storm fan from Southeast Asia
