I recall seeing a … documentary? I guess you could it that. About an australian 13 year old boy who wanted to become a girl.

But in Australia it is illegal to administer hormone treatment to people under 18.
But they just found a loophole or a different doctor who didn’t care and then got the boy – now girl I suppose - the hormone treatments he wanted.

After 2 years on hormone treatments, the child decided that he wasn’t actually a girl after all, but a boy, and went off the drugs.
But was nonetheless on hormone treatment for 2 years.

This is a problem I dislike about this movement – people are so quick to fight for the ‘freedom of choice’ that they can’t recognize that children can be confused and don’t know what they’re doing.

I don’t mind if an adult suddenly changes his mind and alters himself. That is their business, if that’s what makes them happy.

But don’t try to convince me that they are wholly changed. Chromosones determine actual gender. Who they truly are inside.

Afterall, a man who went through a sex change operation can’t get pregnant.
And a woman who does to same to become a man wont be able to get a girl pregnant, I would assume.

All this reminds me of a talkshow-thingy with… what’s his name… Ben Sapiro? Where he’s against the notion of all of this and the transgender woman goes “You’ll stop right now or you’ll go home in an ambulance.”

That’s not something a lady would ever say.

It also reminds me of a personal experience from like 10 years ago when I was working at a gas station.

There was this person who me and a co-worker were really sure was a trans woman.

This person came in and simply asked both my co-worker and me for a kiss while we were working, on seperate occassions.

On a different occasion, this person came in with a guy in tow and asked for if she could take a bunch of napkins so she could take a piss outside.

This is something I would never imagine an actual woman would say or do.

I typically avoid EXTREME positions, but I’d make an exception for this one. Giving a child hormone treatment to change their gender should be against the law and punishable with a severe fine or jailtime.

We have consent laws for a reason. Children don’t know enough about the world to make life decisions. If a 6 year old boy wants to be a girl instead and the parents go along with him and say “Alright lets get you some surgery!” then that parent should lose custody and be imprisoned in my opinion.

Hate on me all you want, but its my opinion.

If you’re an adult, do whatever you want with your body. I couldn’t care less. Just leave children out of it.

Have you seen the newer thing ?
“Trans-able” or something to that effect .
People who identifies as handicaped while in a functional body, so they will purposely injure themselves permenantly in order to truly become handicapped.
There a women who identifies as a blind women , so she poured bleach into her eyes rendering her permanently blind.
A man identified as an amputee so he did chop chop with one of his legs.
Theres actually more of there and is somehow getting popular .

That need for people nowdays to feel special is just going put of control lol.
Then again is it just natural selection ?

Which i found dumb for 2 reasons.
That person just threaded someone on national tv and internet AND has forgotten the fact that ambulance brings you to hospitals not home lol

IIRC, it was not actually revealed, but there was some speculation.

Any of ya’ll from the OW forums remember that “DOES SOLDIER IS GAY? THE RUMOR COME OUT!” thread? Threads like that started popping here and there after that comic, but nothing concrete. It was a while later before Blizzard came out and was like, “Huh? Oh, oh yeah, definitely those ‘fan-theories’ are totally right! Smile and wave, boys, smile and wave.”

I don’t have a problem with S:76 being gay itself, in fact I’ve met people who match his stereotype who are gay, beefy, broody, and too serious. There are a ton of gay people who act completely straight, so it doesn’t feel like he can’t be gay as a character.
It just feels like he was made to be gay first and foremost for the PR, which leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

Those cases are an extreme minority even among the already small minority of the transgender community.

And we can’t even tell if someone is a “completely normal” male or female or not until they start expressing those abnormalities.

  1. How do you know they were completely normal? Have you sequenced their DNA or done exhaustive research on their hormone balance? If not, you may have never noticed the abnormality if it was not outwardly obvious.
  2. Just because someone functioned in society fine for 30 years doesn’t mean it was their preference. Society changes, and 30 years ago being trans was far more taboo than it is today. There’s literally a term for this kind of thing: “coming out of the closet.” They didn’t just up and decide all of a sudden, they just started outwardly expressing their desire, either because they’d reached a breaking point, because they thought it was finally safe enough, or both.

Just chiming in to say yes, S:76 being gay was 100% a virtue grab by Blizzard and 100% a scummy move to railroad attention onto how totally super progressive they are about all this and definitely not just trying to appease demographics to drum up rep and sales.

I think that’s what irks me the most. It stops being about what representation is and means, and starts being about broadly applying labels as a means to an end. Which, if I’m not mistaken, is pretty much what most social movements surrounding gender and sexuality fight against… But what do I know!

What came to mind after reading this, is that if anyone wanted info on the heroes’ backstory, read the novels connected with Blizzard lore. If that’s all there is to say about the characters, then that is what players have to work with.

Of course the opening post is a flame/troll thread, but to play for reals for a moment, a video game such as this one shouldn’t delve into sexuality or biological backstory. And as a reference, sexuality is not a reference to gender, at least in the way I’m using it.
