Not sure what I think of this. Doesn’t really… seem entirely like a dreadlord hero? But the dreadlord was one of the weirdest WC3 heroes. A strength hero mage who sustains his army through lifesteal with crowd control.
So I don’t know that he had a really clear role ultimately. Warrior with lifesteal seems about right I suppose. Not having Infernal is weird, though. Maybe they’re saving it for an Eredar hero (Malchezzar or Jaraxxus or something). I guess technically Mal’ganis didn’t actually have Infernal in WC3. Actually, none of the dreadlord heroes discussed did. (Tichondrius had Rain of Chaos, Varimathras had Doom)
I’m ready for wtf moments when Malganis is going to kill himself with dark conversion because he has to use his last available button on a dying target XD
Really cool to see that Mal’ganis was turned into a Warrior. In the old system I would’ve expected him to be a specialist but seeing as they are going away with it I was leaning towards assassin but the Wc3 Dreadlord was a terrible melee fighter for the most part. Mostly just brought for sleep/vamp aura so I was curious if he’d become like a primary ranged with a melee finisher or Maiev level of durability.
However as a Warrior with a more life leech type of gameplay it looks pretty neat. I’m just afraid that, just like most other life leech heroes, he might become obsolete after a few nerfs. This type of design always gets nerfed unfortunatly because it has such a feast or famine flaw.
I hope it won’t though. Even though his W is a very mediocre ability the rest of his kit is really cool to me.
Also Dark Conversion is gonna be bonkers. It does have a short delay so it can be CC’d but the spotlight does not show it’s max range. It looks like it has a 2-3 range level but it’s difficult to tell for sure. I can already picture myself a Mal’ganis running into towers/tagging a boss and get down to 30-50% HP and proceed to a zooning enemy tank and just swap HP just before an objective.
I’ll have to try him the moment he’s released. I really hope he doesn’t have a Yrel-style talent tree because I really want a new, appealing Warrior to play that isn’t Arthas. Yrel’s talent tree was just so dull. Hopefully Mal’ganis brings better customization for me to play around with.
I can see it now, He goes to swap health from a target but then his team bursts down that target right as he begins to channel his ability LMAO (#QM problems).
I wonder what its level 20 upgrade because right now since I tend to mostly play QM I might just go with his other heroic because it can serve as an escape and it will be much easier to get value out of against any team and on any map.
Not sure if anyone else had said this, but: quite a few flashbacks to Riven here, although with probably a WAY less annoying passive. That being said, he looks really fun, and blind as a bat looks nutty as hell, RIP my Q key. Dark conversion seems like its gonna have some rage moments, but we’ll have to see how it turns out. Will probably buy him, since i need a new tank to play.
I wish they would implement the Fear mechanic into more heroes. It needs a single target version, as well as a “roar” version, which makes enemies run away from you.
EDIT: Also, maybe a version where you fear yourself and start running towards the direction you were facing, but gain something like 50-75 armor for its duration
His level 20 upgrade for the hp swap is SOOO getting nerfed.
Also it has no real channel(edit: .75 sec channel), only the swarm of bats have a 1 sec channel time and since they both have a 80 sec cooldown I will say the HP swap is by far the superior heroic.
I mean at level 20 it hits all nearby heroes with 75% of the damage done with the heroic so its OP, just use it only the enemy tank and you pretty much kill everyone near him within 3 secs.
I wouldn’t mind seeing them replace the upgrade mechanic all together, making 25% of the heal/damage instant, and applying the rest of the heal/damage over 1,5 sec instead of 3 (or 2,25).
This hero will be like Garrosh before his combo was changed.
In draft games either first pick or perma ban.
Tho there are counters like Ana or Deckard but other than that, not much imo.
although its OP I guess Bliz gave it a small area of effect (think living bomb) to its level 20 heroic but thats still dealing 75% of that damage to everyone so in additional to being a tank buster it ends up being a team buster if they are close enough to their tank.
