Blinds, stuns, knockbacks, not being able to AA stuff.
It’s not permanent and really hard to make it look like that.
(Edit: I also rarely pick it, because I find the other lvl 20s stronger especially since Archon doesn’t recharge shields and I dislike not being able to mount.)
The shield does not need to refresh. For Tassadar who did not take the level 1 talent for bouncing auto attack it gives him high end splash auto attack damage while enabling high end stutter step with potentially unlimited duration.
Outside of internal talent combos, which there are many with Archon, the main reason to go for it is the -20% spell armor on targets as long as he keeps attacking. If your team is spell damage heavy and the enemy team has good spell armor this can be considerably more powerful than buffing spell damage alone and does not force your team to cluster in a way some enemy heroes can exploit.
Yea i mean people say “it doesn’t generate fully” and all that nonsense. He generates shield period just by picking up the lvl 4 talent. it’s enough to negate AA’s and cause his allies to utterly destroy your attempt to break throu it.
It’s there… discuss that, instead of saying “no he doesnt regenerate” when he clearly can/does.
Basically anyone with more than 50 base damage per second can outdamage the shield which I’m pretty sure near-everyone in the roster.
Most heroes do 1.2 attacks per second and generally they have 40-70 damage per attack.
Calling that shield a significant boost against auto-attacks is almost a joke.
It’s not only that. Op is taking about team fights here. I’m certain that almost any stray ability would completely destroy the shield and damage him. Plus, you have more potential ranges in such a fight that can AA Tassadar, so the shield won’t hold.
While well designed level 20 talents are designed to give big power boosts in some fashion, it sounds like either the enemy team was already ahead the whole time, you guys simply played like garbage during the last tribute or the enemy team happened to make some good plays during the last tribute (all of which are common ways for teams to suddenly lose last second). Neither of those really mean Tass’ level 20 is overtuned.
I find the other level 13 options to be superior. I never take shift. The 30 spell armor + health regen is quite nice - you become much harder to kill, and it “automatically triggers” if you are stunned/rooted.
It’s much better than the short-lived 25 armor + pseudo invisibility.
Whether he can mount or not has literally nothing to do with this thread, You don’t need mount during a team fight. Just speaks for itself.
Try to remember that it is a team based game, there’s too many people that just forgets that it’s not a 1v1 fight. You even confirmed that i was talking about team fights.
He has a shield around 2k at lvl 20. That’s well over any heroes single burst… That combo will barely break throu the shield. During your cooldown he will recover about 1/3rd of that shield cuz of fully charged with talent 4. This is only a 1v1 scenario. put this in a team fight setup. you’ll die before you get to bring him down if you even can considering that he can position himself where you wont be able to trade without losing your life.
I don’t know man, i simply don’t like it when a kit rewards the player instead of the player getting rewarded for his skills, the tassadar basically missed half his shots throuout the whole match and walled like a blind man.
This was huge, i haven’t touched Tass since the rework but without lifesteal on the shield i feel archon would suck. It was the only thing that would let my archon live more than 2 seconds because the lifesteal would give back over a quarter of his health per attack and gave him the ability to actually dish out some damage in a big fight.
Without the life steal i imagine popping archon and maybe getting 2 basic attacks and then running for your life because you have no sustain.
Actually the lack of ability to mount is relevant.
When Archon is popped, just walk away. Since you will be faster than him (because you can mount) his Archon will go away. Then it is on a long cooldown and you can reengage.
lol somebody got really pwned by archon. when tass pops archon, you either disengage or all focus fire him to bring him down. he’s easily focus fired nowadays.
Didin’t i just say that this game ain’t about 1v1? If i “walk away” it’s 4v5. As soon as i “walk away” that Archon duration is increased on someone else.
Mount is not relevant to a team fight unless you have an instant mount up hero like Yrel or Hanzo trait and that’s also too specific to be relevant.
What are you on about? Do you speak as if every single player in the game is in grand master or something? Good luck with finding a team that does that. Diamond - Silver is probably where the bulk of the player base is. You wont see such a team in these leagues. Maybe top Diamond but low Diamond and below is where the player base is… I’ve never seen any team back out to wait for the full Archon to run out. Besides why the hell would a hero be designed to promote such a playstyle anyway?
