My personal Gazlowe Rework

(WARNING: WALL OF TEXT AHEAD)
Gazlowe is pretty much forgotten at this point. He has been left with nothing but one “viable” build. On top of that, old Gazlowe players probably remember the rework he received all those years ago, and most will probably agree that it made the Boss of Ratchet less exciting to play.

However, this concept is not going to just revert Gazlowe to his old “cool” self. That version also had a lot of problems, which is why the main goal of this rework is to try and combine the “old” and “new” Gazlowe into a single, hopefully better design. Here we go.

BASEKIT

Stats

  • Health increased from 2275 to 2304.
  • Health Regen increased from 4.74 to 4.8.
  • Stats now properly scale by 4% per level, reaching (rounded) 5048 Health, 11 Health Regen, and 219 Attack Damage at Level 20.

(NEW) Salvager [Trait (D)]

  • Generate 1 Scrap automatically every 10 seconds. Basic Attacks against non-Minions also generate 1 Scrap.
  • Enemy Structures drop a Bolt upon being destroyed, which lasts for up to 30 seconds, and can be collected by Gazlowe to generate 5 Scrap. Enemy Core drops 5 Bolts.
  • Maximum of 20 Scrap. Every 5 Scrap generated heals Gazlowe for 60.
  • Activate to destroy a target Rock-It! Turret. (Cast Range: 6)

Creator Comment: Behold! This new Ability combines the current Trait and its “predecessor” into one!

Rock-It! Turret [Q]

  • Cost increased from 4 to 5 Scrap.
  • Damage decreased from 43 to 30.
  • Health decreased from 601 to 450.
  • Health scaling decreased from 5% to 4% per level.
  • Duration decreased from 20 to 15 seconds.
  • No longer loses Health over time.
  • No longer drops Scrap upon being destroyed.
Tooltip updated.

Create a Turret with 450 Health at the target location that attacks a nearby enemy for 30 damage every second, prioritizing the nearest enemy Hero when first created. Lasts 15 seconds.

Creator Comment: While some may disagree, making Summons lose HP over time was unwise. However, with this change reverted and Scrap becoming much easier to obtain, Rock-It! Turret had to be greatly weakened.

Deth Lazor [W]

  • Cast time increased from 0.65 to 0.75 seconds.
  • Damage increased from 175 to 200.
  • Healing removed.
  • Cast direction now slowly changes with the mouse cursor position.
Tooltip updated.

After 0.75 seconds, deal 200 damage to enemies in a line in front of Gazlowe.

While channeling, the direction slowly changes with your mouse cursor position.

Creator Comment: Another case of combining the old and the new. Also, healing by zapping things never felt right, which is why it had to go.

Xplodium Charge [E]

  • Damage increased from 142 to 150.
  • Radius increased from 2.85 to 3.
  • Explosion delay increased from 1.25 to 3 seconds.
  • Can now be reactivated 1 second after the cast to reduce the explosion delay to 0.25 seconds.
  • Cannot be reactivated 0.25 seconds before detonation.
Tooltip updated.

Launch a bomb at the target location that detonates after 3 seconds, dealing 150 damage to nearby enemies and Stunning them for 1 second.

After 1 second, this Ability can be reactivated to reduce the remaining time before detonation to 0.25 seconds.

Creator Comment: After some tinkering, Gazlowe managed to make Xplodium Charge work with a remote detonator, allowing it to regain its former zoning potential. Unfortunately, the signal is slightly delayed, so he gotta think twice before using it.

Focus Turrets! [Active]

  • Cooldown removed.
  • Added to the Collection menu.

(REWORK) Robo-Goblin [R1]

  • Activate to gain 60 Armor and Unstoppable for 2 seconds. (Cooldown: 60 seconds)
  • Passive: Basic Attacks deal 100% bonus damage to Heroes.

Creator Comment: Robo-Goblin is one of the most underwhelming Abilities in the game. This new version allows Gazlowe to pack a punch and withstand one for a bit.

Grav-O-Bomb 3000 [R2]

  • Damage decreased from 220 to 180.
  • No longer empowers Basic Abilities.
  • Now reduces the Spell Armor of Heroes hit by 30 for 3 seconds.
Tooltip updated.

Launch a bomb at the target location that detonates after 1.5 seconds, pulling nearby enemies towards its center, dealing 180 damage, and Stunning them for 0.5 seconds. Heroes hit also lose 30 Spell Armor for 3 seconds.

Creator Comment: Grav-O-Bomb 3000 empowering Basic Abilities never made sense. Making it lower Spell Armor instead adds utility and flavor.

  • Attack Range bonus decreased from 30% to 25%.
  • Secondary damage increased from 60% to 75%.

CONCLUSION

That is all. Hope this was worth the read.

Booyaw! We need this unusable display added for sure. At the very least, the Gazwole player will feel slightly slighted that he can never grab it, but also slightly rewarded for the core making the hollow appearance of giving so much scrap!

I remember I would always start the old laser pointed away from where I wanted it to hit, then turn it around right before it fired. I had better success this way, but probably hit about the same rate as the new locked direction way.

I’m no good at gauging how it would preform by numbers alone. I like the focus on sustained fighting having the potential to heal more than now. Honestly, I’m willing to try it because after all this time, I don’t feel like I’ve mastered him to the level I had before.
